  1. I did my online check in weeks ago and wasn't asked. I went to print out my docs today and they had added a fifth step. All the early times were no longer available. An email heads up would have been thoughtful for those of us who don't have a chance to read up on all the process improvements.

We did on-line check in on May 30th so I just headed back to MY NCL..........no fifth step for us!!

Guess we'll just arrive at check-in when we are ready and see what happens.

I agree with you about an e-mail heads up though....would have been useful.

  2. When are you asked to pick a designated arrival time? I have already checked in online for our cruise on Epic in October and wasn't asked.

I'd like to know this as well, please.

We've done on-line check-in for our August Epic cruise and we weren't asked either...........unless I completely missed something! :o

Edited to add that I've just checked our e-docs and it states *Boarding starts at 12 noon. Please do not arrive earlier than one hour prior to boarding time shown*

  3. ^Thanks for clearing that up! :)

Btw, can you please have a look at the question I posted above? Maybe you know something about it!

With regards to the DVD.......we bought a selection of photos last year on the Getaway and for an extra charge (which escapes me at the moment!) you can get THOSE pictures on a USB, but I didn't notice anything like you're mentioning. That's not to say it doesn't exist though. Sorry not to be of more help there!

  4. This didnt sound very convincing :( I've been before on Navigator of the Seas (RCI) and really liked it. Had the chance to visit (not travel) on Anthem of the Seas, which definitely made me get new standards for what I think it's good about cruise ships :P I know Epic is not on the same league of Anthem, but hope to really enjoy it!

Sorry, that would be my British sense of humour! :o

We haven't cruised any other line than NCL, so have nothing to compare it with. But after 4 cruises with them and the Epic booked again, it's safe to say that NCL is a good fit for us! :)

  5. Hi,

We will be cruising in 4 days for our first cruise. I have a few questions for previous getaway cruisers. Is the Illusionarium worth the extra money?

Most definitely worth the extra money! The show alone, without the food was worth the extra IMO :)

We are adventurous type people. What excursions are the best at each port? (we get $50 off an excursion at each port.)

We didn't do any excursions I'm afraid, so can't help you there.

What are must dos on board?

Teppanyaki for the interaction with the chefs, Legally Blonde and Burn the Floor and a night at Howl at the Moon. The Mojito bar.......especially if you are lucky enough....like we were......to go on a night when people were dancing to the salsa music......great fun to watch! People-watching in the Casino.....highs and lows! I could go on...and on...... have a great trip!! :)

Thank you so much for any advice! We want to make the most out of our trip!

    Danielle

    Enjoy! :D

  6. Hi all,

I know we can ask our room attendant to either separate or put twin beds together in order to have a kingsize bed but i was wondering if there is any way to have it all ready as we want in advance?

Are they always together and they only separate them if we ask?

Only cruised once and both beds were together.

    Thanks!

I'm sure someone with more experience than me will chip in about requesting the set-up in advance, but just to say that on our 4 cruises, the beds were always together. :)

  7. We are on the Epic western Med in August and when I check Explore and Plan on My NCL, 15 available excursions show for Cannes, including Monte Carlo and Monaco.

Is it maybe a website glitch? I believe NCL is notorious for them!

Whatever it is, I hope you get notification one way or another. :)

  8. Could anyone please tell me, is there a certain time you have to leave for the tenders from the ship or can you chose to leave the ship at any time for a DIY trip?

    Hi there,

If you are doing a DIY trip and have transportation booked, my suggestion would be to go to Guest Services and book a tender for a specific time. If my memory serves me correctly, the tenders for Santorini were particularly busy at around 2:00pm.........we arrived at about 1:30pm...and everyone seemed to want to get off at once! Hope that helps :)

  9. Can anyone tell me what the last tender back to the ship leaves Santorini?

    thanks

    Hi there,

Just checked our dailies and the last tender was 9:00pm. Bearing in mind this was 2 years ago, but pretty sure it will still be the same. I'm sure someone else will say if it's vastly different. Hope that helps. :)

  10. Congratulations on your forthcoming marriage and what a way to celebrate! :)

The Jade and the Greek Islands has been our favourite cruise so far.

The sail away from Venice is fabulous and Santorini and Mykonos in particular, we found breathtaking!

The crew on the Jade were second to none. As a previous poster said, they really seem to enjoy their jobs!

Have fun planning your cruise but most of all enjoy it! :)

  11. Thanks so much never cruised before and first time to Europe so thought I would ask those that have been recently. Would rather not haul those items if possible.

I just realized after looking again at several posts that they won't allow backpacks in the Vatican or colosseum. Thinking I could take one of those thin flat drawstring packs stick it in my pocket and when done use it for the pant legs and scarf.

    Thanks again!

    You're very welcome!

Yes, you're right about no backpacks in the Vatican. Your suggestion of a flat drawstring pack is very sensible.......good thinking!

I'm veering more towards wearing a maxi dress this time round so won't have the thing of the pant legs! Although DH is considering wearing them this time around. Last time I feel we got lucky.......he had shorts on, but they JUST covered his knees and no-one said a word! BUT I've heard of others who were dressed similarly and refused admittance, so we're taking no chances!

  12. Dumb question here but do they provide hangers in the cabins on the Epic?

Not a dumb question at all, if you're unsure.:) Yes, they DO provide hangers and if you don't have enough, you can always ask your room steward for some more. Also Hairdryers?

Again, yes and I find them perfectly adequate for my (admittedly very SHORT!) hair.;) Think I heard they provide robes as well is that correct? I believe in balcony cabins and above, but I'm sure someone else will chip in there. We've always had them in balcony cabins.

And one concerning touring the Vatican. I know you must cover your knees and cover your shoulders. Could you wear a sleeveless collared shirt or t and wrap a scarf around your shoulders and still get in? Going to be mid 90's while there and would prefer to dress for the temp if possible. Got the legs covered will wear convertible pants. Thanks!

That is EXACTLY what I did on our last visit and will do the same again this visit. I agree about the temperature and wanting to dress appropriately.

    Enjoy your Epic trip! :)
