I keep hearing news that we are getting the vaccine by the end of this year. As soon as the vaccine will be around, there wont be any limitations and this covid thing will be considered as just another type of flue that can be easily curred
And who are you hearing this from, that might be qualified to know?

Based on what public health officials and doctors involved in vaccine development say, I think the October-November approval of a vaccine is more aspirational than real. Once released, the logistics of getting people vaccinated would take a long time. It may be mid-2021 before it is readily available to the general public. In the meantime, the vaccine is not likely to be 100% effective, so we may still have to follow public health guidelines until the virus is well controlled.
As much as I miss cruising, I’m in no hurry to return to something so greatly altered that it is no longer the same experience.
I doubt very much that a vaccine will be available this year. The claims that it will are not coming from epidemiologists, or any one else in the health field, but rather from politicians, who do not know what they are talking about.
However, that aside, I dont think I would enjoy a vacation with all the potential restrictions. My last cruise was very different from my other two cruises, and not in a good way. Service was really lacking, food quality was way down from my previous cruises, and the poor servers in the dining room had so much more responsibility than on my previous cruise, I hesitated to ask for a second drink. At 76, I would be a high risk passenger, and would probably be safer with a beach vacation on land. Just my two cents.

I've had the same thought. The closer it gets, the less likely it seems like it will happen.
If the ports are closed, then NO. If they impose the guided ship tours only rule that's even harder.
Most of the Caribbean ports I've been to so many times that we just go to lunch or a bar for a drink and stroll around.
My question is if no cruise, then what to do in February?????
LOL, shovel snow???

Lighten up! Any cruise discussion is fine on any thread.
Very true, isnt that why we all joined this forum, for discussion of cruise related things?

Do you expect that the buffet will no longer exist, or that buffet meals will be served by staff (no longer serve yourself)?

Just a warning, these pillows do not claim to be down pillows, just feather pillows. A good down pillow is probably $100.00.

Only because we may have to or lose over $6000. But it would only be if they find a cure for the Covid 19 and if we live to take it. My son who is 32 believes it will all blow over since only the old and immunosuppressed will die, while most people under 60 won't have much of a problem, more like a cold for a few days.
Your son is wrong. There have been many under 60, uncompromised, and have gotten very ill and died of Covid 19, including children. And some over 90 have had the disease and lived. They do not yet know enough about the disease to make these blanket statements.

Dress codes are really not important, but the butter shortage? That was another story.

It will be a terrible shame if whole country is shutdown like Italy.
Maybe, but part of me thinks that shutting the whole country down now, for two weeks, might save a lot of lives and might be better in the long run.

It’s amazing how many people have blinders on.Not sure what you mean by this, could you please be more clear? The way this disease is spreading, I would not be surprised if no pleasure cruises are sailing in four weeks. Do you think that is unreasonable?

We are booked for an April cruise to San Francisco.
At this time, all the people around us seem to have cancelled. There is no on within 6 cabins of us on either side anymore.
We won't have to worry about social distancing, and if we are quarantined, we can probably have access to a whole section of cabins.
Also, getting a seat in the dining room should be easy. I will be able to run the Promenade during the day because there will be hardly anyone walking. Using the gym and the pool should be a breeze.
Best of all, I am looking forward to winning trivia and other games on a regular basis.
Just looking for the bright side of things.😉
I think if you are quarantined, that does not give you the flexibility to move around from cabin to cabin. They will quarantine you in your own cabin.

Could you just imagine being confined in an inside cabin for a week. 🤪
I love an inside cabin, but no, I definitely would not want to be confined to one for a week, with no opportunity to leave it. On the other hand, I would feel the same if I could not leave an outside cabin. At least those in a balcony cabin can sit out in the sun if they want to.

As of this morning, the CDC is advising citizens over 60, and those with compromised immune systems, heart or lung considerations, to stay home as much as possible. Avoid unnecessary travel, crowds, malls and stay home.

We had it on the Emerald in the Crown Grill last week. It was a great atmosphere, but as Brits we were a bit unimpressed with the fish in the fish and chips, and laughed at the chilled 'jam roly poly'
Have not heard of a jam roly poly. What is it?

I hope you have a wonderful cruise, and get to see all the ports you are hoping to see.

I didn't say that she was a liar; however, her writing style is dramatic to say the least.
I think the experience that everyone on that ship went through was dramatic. Not being accusatory towards Princess, or any passengers. I am very happy not to have lived that experience. Must have been horrible.

She's an author and she did what she does best: drew you in.😀
She was also a passenger on that ship, relating her experience to those who were not. The fact that she is a published author does not make her a liar looking to make you believe things that are untrue.

Quite honestly, I am quite happy not to have a cruise booked right now. We have been doing beach vacations the past few years, and that is something I really enjoy too. I love me a cozy inside cabin, but would not care to be locked up in one for a couple of weeks, unable to leave the cabin at will. I am not one to panic, but if I did have an upcoming cruise in the next few months, I would likely cancel it.

I would call immediately and ask to be moved back.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, I believe there is a charge for gelato.

As you can see "food" is my top priority. The promenade deck, show lounge & balcony size take backseat. 😉
It would be my priority too.

On our upcoming Regal Cruise all the club class mini-suites were booked. We settled for a "regular" mini-suite, but we will really miss the club class dining. Has anyone been able to purchase club class dining as an add-on to a regular mini-suite? We'll ask on board, but just wondering if anyone has been successful? We're Elite class, if that matters.
I dont believe there is an "add on" to a mini suite. You are either in a club class mini, or you are not. Why would it matter if you are elite?

Having a plan to roll things out when the vaccine becomes available means just that. Figuring out a plan to roll things out. Not quite the same as having a vaccine in hand ready to give to the public. I do not believe the public will see a vaccine for Covid 19 anytime in 2020.
