I did but unfortunately it's not helping. It's old but I checked the expiration and it's good till January 2025. Maybe I didn't take it soon enough?  I'm not sure what the problem is.

If you can get to Guest Services, they'll give you some. I get it bad even when the seas are smooth so I know that feeling. I hope you feel better in the morning.  Is your mom ok?

No way I would book at those prices -- for a ship with 7,000 passengers.

    For fun, I did price out the Ultimate Family Townhouse for our group of 8;

    August 9, 2025 = $116,000

    December 27, 2025 = $140,000

I'm surprised that people who can spend that for a week would even want to be on a cruise ship with 7k people. That's the kind of money where you can plan a very personalized vacation that doesn't include bumping elbows with people trying to get around a ship.

Thanks, but I thought you could do it some way when booking on line.  I know you used to be able to do that but can't remember how anymore or perhaps you can't ...... 😨

Anyone else have any ideas....the thought of sitting on hold on the phone while waiting for someone at Royal to answer is not very appealing at all.

Hold times have not been long at all lately.

Ok. Mine only goes until 3pm day 2, 12pm day 3, 2pm day 4. Maybe I need to wait until closer to sailing, which is in November? Which stinks because I'm a planner and it would be nice to know if I need to purchase anything now.

I'll keep a lookout on the app. Thanks for the tip!

Pick another sailing. Click the person icon on the top right of the app ‐--> select a different cruise ---> browse our ships --> Indy of the seas, pick the latest sailing. The attire should be the same for your cruise.

  5. My mother-in-law gives us those AmEx prepaid cards for Xmas and birthdays. I was using them towards a 2020 cruise that I booked in 2018. Well, even after lift and shift, my husband wasn't comfortable going so we canceled. They refunded everything to the original cards...including the AmEx cards. When I didn't see the full amount in my account, I remembered. Talked to Royal and was told nothing could be done as money is refunded to the original form of payment and to contact AmEx. Of course, I no longer had the cards as this is now like 3 years after booking the cruise. Lesson learned. I'll never use prepaid cards to pay for a cruise again.

That shouldn’t be a possibility anyway, if a stop doesn’t include any of the ABC islands. Would be a violation of the PVSA (Passenger Vessel Service Act)

Sure hope this cruise isn't during hurricane season.

I booked the nonstop to Newark that gets in at 9:44 day of cruise.  It's the first flight of the day out of Sarasota on that aircraft so hoping no issues.

IF there are issues and we miss the boat, can we contact Royal and get ourselves to the first port (Port Canaveral) and board there?

So then you'd have to get 5 people to PC? My nerves would be shot dealing with the airline people, renting a car or going back home to get your car and the drive to PC. Sounds worse than just getting a hotel room!

  8. Love the aft! This Thanksgiving will be our 2nd time in 1400 on Deck 10 (Indy). As far as the long walk, I need all of the steps I can get so I treat the longer walk like exercise. And I have terrible motion sickness. Even in calm seas, it can be bad. I have never been less sick in any specific part of the ship. I say keep it especially for 3 nights!

Who used the word required? Most people want a sped up process of boarding so since the 3rd passenger was never a reality in the first place I would think they wouldn't want to be held up at check in.

It's just not as much of a hassle as you make it sound. We all still have to stop and show identification anyway. You check in as individuals so it's not like they're asking you anything about the "3rd person." That person not being there does not hold anything up.

No that's not what I mean, in order the be cleared for boarding there is a lot of pre-boarding docs that must be completed.  I for one wouldn't want to show up at my sailing with nothing completed beforehand because of a phantom passenger.

But I don't think you're required to fill out anything on the app beforehand. You can do everything at the port if you so choose.

My thoughts will be controversial, but, that's on me.

My first thought is that the post starts out bolding implying that somebody stole something. Thats a very strong and personalized opinion. Not a proven fact.

Maybe something like, I had some jewelry come up lost, misplaced, or stolen, what are my options would have set better with me.

I filed a claim a few years back with Carnival and worded as such. After they denied finding said object, I was disappointed but placed the blame on myself for not keeping better track of my belongings. A couple of months later, I found my lost object in my shaving kit. I did all this without blindly accusing someone of being a thief with no proof.

Maybe these items were stolen. Who knows, but that's why you have insurance. Whether it be travel insurance, homeowners' insurance, or if very valuable, a separate insurance policy.

If I come outside and my car is not in the driveway, I will say that someone stole it. I don't need to retrace my steps or think that I misplaced it. Someone stole it. If she had jewelry in her suitcase and it's now gone, she can speculate that someone stole it. It's a known fact that we live amongst thieves. I appreciate her reminder to not put things of value in checked luggage at any time.

Sorry about that! I have several posts written but haven’t posted yet. Someone was really unkind about my grammar and it just put me off from sharing more.
My dad and I live in two different cities so needed two taxis! We really loved the Spirit and I would sail on her again

Tell us who so we can hope all their future cruise food is lukewarm at best! 😅 I'm excited for this cruise but still looking forward to a final wrap up of the last one. Hope your dad is well. We'll miss him!

Wait....are we really blaming NCL for not returning items that passengers lost? I'm all for blaming NCL, but for lost and found items? Come on!

When I was director of a charter school, we just threw out the crap kids lost. I'm guessing that's what NCL does too. Maybe direct the blame at those who lost the items....oh wait, that would require self-awareness.

Our school at least keeps stuff longer than a few weeks! We donate right before Xmas break and of course, at year's end. There should be a 30-day holding period.

  14. First, I enjoyed every bit of your review and I hope you do a report for your next cruise as well. Second, this ending was riveting and completely awful. I cannot believe all you went thru to get home and you never even mentioned that you cried! Lol I don't think I could have handled it. Your wife being military probably handles herself in emergencies very well. Me, not so much! You holding on to the bars of the closed security gate while your wife hands you a book thru the TSA agent as you slowly slid to the floor (that's what I pictured!) was a scene from a movie. You have an amazing attitude and you are surely raising resilient children. Hats off to you and your wife for the way you handled that absolutely terrible debacle. Hope the rest of your summer is as great as the cruise itself!

We were escorted to Choir of Man and all I can say is “don’t miss it”. It was amazing. The energy, the music, the voices….it was a treat.

My sister waited with my mom to try and be escorted out at stage level (how we came in) rather than climbing all the stairs. I was at the Haven restaurant about 8:30 and again a wait. I was hoping the wait wouldn’t be the 40 minutes like last night and I was rewarded. It was only a couple of minutes. However, our waiter last night said we could ask for him and I forgot to until I was walking in the restaurant and I swear the hostess was mad at me. It was probably because it made it unbalanced for the servers but oh well. We really enjoy our waiter (Nelson) and I think he enjoys serving us.

I had the onion consommé tonight and it was amazing. It’s so simple yet the broth was so rich and flavorful.

It arrives with just the Pearl onions in the bowl and the consommé poured over at the table. I will definitely order again.

For dinner I tried the prime rib again and I think the chefs idea of prime rib and mine vary. It wasn’t bad, just not what I would call prime rib. I tried the kale salad tonight and it was fine. Not outstanding, but fine. I love the baked potatoes….they’re small but you can add cheese, bacon and chives (you can also add sour cream but I don’t like sour cream). I don’t love the Havens dessert menu, so I tried the lemon sorbet and it was a nice light dessert.

I’m talking with Nelson, he shared I could arrange to have Indian food one night, such as butter chicken and some kind of curry. So that will be nice as I love Indian food. I also hope to try lunch in the Haven tomorrow. I also tried the NCL red blend and it was an improvement over the Cabernet in the basic drink package. Yes there was an up charge but I’ll pay an up charge for a better glass.

Dinner ended after 10. My mom and sister decided to go to the shops. I made my way to the Haven bar where my arm was twisted to have a double amaretto rather than a single pour. The older I get (I’m 61 now) I enjoy a little down time and I was happy to have some alone time before they returned to the room.

On deck for tomorrow: a meet and greet at 11, a champagne meet and greet with the captain at 7 in the Haven and 7:30 dining reservations at Le Bistro.

Kind of impressed by your mom "headed out to the shops" at 10pm! At 50, I'm long gone by 10 most nights! Sounds like this cruise is off to a great start for you girls and I hope it gets even better!
