  1. Personally I don't consider it "lousy service". Yea, THAT will show Royal how upset you are! Book more cruises!
  2. The prime example is "coffee may be hot". BUT, once I found out the facts (see what I did there @MrMarc?) about that case (https://www.caoc.org/?pg=facts), I can side with the plaintiff. BUT, in that case, McDonalds had settled other lawsuits, basically acknowledging they knew their product was dangerous. I don't think that's the case with Royal. I've seen threads about this case obviously here, another message board I frequent, and YouTube. I've found ONE person saying Royal is at fault. My understanding in a civil trial, you don't need a unanimous decision from the jurors. I think it's going to be difficult for the family to get even 50% of jurors (can you have a hung jury in a civil suit?) to side with them. They MIGHT get one, and at most two. Just my opinion.
  3. I was talking in general, not in this case. Can a judge decide, based on what's been presented, that the Plaintiffs haven't met the burden of proof (whatever the "level" is)? If so, then they CAN decide on "facts", which you said they can't do. Have you seen the video yourself? Have you been on the ship (the class if not the actual ship)? Do YOU think there should have been warning signs and/or a net?
  4. No? So what's a "directed verdict"? Or is that only for criminal trials?
  5. So a Judge can't decide that the plaintiffs haven't proved their case and any reasonable jury would find for the defendants? Have I been reading too many novels and watching too much TV?
  6. What are you talking about now? I'm comparing people's complaints about cruise lines cutting service and increasing costs with hotels cutting service and not decreasing (not sure if they've increased or not) costs. I stay in hotels 5-6 nights for business trips. Because I stay in hotel rooms by myself that invalidates the point that hotels have cut room cleanings?
  7. But hotels HAVE cut down from daily service to every 'x' days. The hotel rates haven't gone down. So, cutting service, and not cutting prices. Please explain.
  8. I've stayed at Doubletrees and Hamptons and they all have had service every 5th day. I'm at a Home2Suites next week and I'll check again. It's just me and I eat most meals outside of the hotel, so I don't have a problem. I'm usually ready for fresh towels around day 4, but haven't bothered requesting yet.
  9. I agree it's not unusual to get different information from different CSRs, but I still don't understand calling back a second time OR the supervisor. Here's how I'm thinking the call SHOULD have gone: OP: <dials number given> CSR: "Hello, Royal Caribbean" OP: "Hello, I had a message to call this number regarding my upcoming Celebrity cruise." CSR: "Oh, you need to talk to Celebrity, here's their number... " OP: "OK thank you." <hangs up> OP: <Calls new number given> What it sounds like happened: OP: <dials number given> CSR: "Hello, Royal Caribbean" OP: "Hello, I had a message to call this number regarding my upcoming Celebrity cruise." CSR: "Oh, you need to talk to Celebrity, here's their number... " OP: "This was the number I was told to call. I want to talk to a supervisor." CSR: "You really need to talk to Celebrity, I can't help you." OP: "I demand to talk to your supervisor!" CSR: OK, let me transfer you." <gets disconnected> OP: <dials number given> CSR2: "Hello, Royal Caribbean" OP: "Hello, I had a message to call this number regarding my upcoming Celebrity cruise." CSR2: "Oh, you need to talk to Celebrity, here's their number... " OP: "This was the number I was told to call. I want to talk to a supervisor." CSR: OK, let me transfer you." <gets disconnected> OP: <upset and creates thread>
  10. If it's something they might want to try, look for dive training in your home area. They might offer a free (or reduced) "introductory" class (or classes). We did a free trial at an AI in Mexico 10 years ago. That was just in the resort pool. Then we signed up for training which included class work and an open water dive. It was interesting, but we never followed up on it.
  11. I consider a cruise ship a "floating hotel". I think it's one of the better analogies. Granted, the rooms are smaller, but it's a fair comparison.
  12. Sorry, I don't get it either. UNLESS the first CSR never gave the Celebrity number. My second call would have been "I was told to call this number, I know it's wrong, can you give me the correct number?". I don't understand asking for a supervisor for either call.
  13. You can look at your ATT bill (or the website) to see how much data you use in a "normal" month. That should give you a baseline. I don't generally stream on my phone, just use it for email, web browsing, messaging and the last four months I've had over 10Gb usage each month.
  14. Not really. It depends on how important the room service is to you. The way some people are reacting, it's the end of the world. And again I ask, why should the company change back if they're still able to sell the cabins?
  15. Don't forget to account for a drink package (included in the AI rate) and a larger room (unless you're in a suite on a cruise, which changes the math). While both are similar, there are differences. @KSprite01 did an EXCELLENT job comparing the two.
  16. Bottom line is MANY companies are cutting back services AND increasing charges. If you don't think the product offered (by any company) is worth the charge they're asking... DON'T BUY THE PRODUCT. ETA: Why should a company offer more value if they're able to sell the "lessor" value?
  17. Many hotels chains (Hilton is definitely one) have gone to only servicing your room every five days. So, if you want service every day, make sure you pick a brand that has that. Likewise, if you want twice a day service on a cruise, make sure you pick a line that has that. "I don't like the way this company does business, but I'm going to keep giving them my money." is a great way to let folks know you really DON'T have a problem.
  18. IMO, smart people fly in the day before. Assuming Noon arrival, say off the plane and get luggage by 1230, get to shuttle and transport to the pier, 130 at the earliest. All aboard is 330? So, as long as you don't have flight delays, don't have luggage delays, don't have transportation delays, or any combination, you're fine!
  19. Are 10 pictures worth getting a package for? I don't know what the cost of the individual pics (preferably digital versions) are vs the package, but it would be worth comparing.
  20. Have you tried rebooting your device?
  21. Doesn't matter what's in the cloud if you can't access it.
