  1. ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS book direct from the airline. There are all kinds of on line tools to help you search for flights (I agree with Google flights), but the potential savings of using a 3rd party can quickly get wiped out if there is a problem.
  2. Have you tried on an actual computer instead of a mobile device?
  3. I'd add to that idea... put a light on the timer. Red if the timer is running (chair is occupied) and green if the timer isn't (chair available). Then you can see what chairs are available (sort of like the lights I've seen at various parking garages... LOVE them!). That sure looks like the "water volleyball vs officers" event. I've thought for a while RCI (any cruise line) should put in cubbies. Enough room to keep a pair of flip flops/shoes, a towel, and a book. I understand not wanting to keep those things too near the pool (and risk them getting wet).
  4. I totally agree with the bolded. If I go to the pool and can't find a chair to put my stuff, I'll find somewhere else, OR go do something else. I'm not going to pay attention to whether stuff sitting in a chair has been messed with in 30 minutes.
  5. Is it possible that that's the one that's "active" in your app? So if you back out of that screen, the app shows information for the 7 night cruise? To test, on that page, click the 4 night, and see if it gets the "My reservation" banner.
  6. Agree with the others regarding hotels. If you're not getting a rental car, and staying at an AirBnB/VRBO, look into https://www.google.com/search?q=luggage+storage+miami&oq=luggage+storage+miam&aqs=chrome.0.0i512l2j69i57j0i512l6j0i390.5937j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8. We got off Mariner in July, our flight wasn't until the evening, we found a storage place at MCO, dropped our luggage, then went to Disney Springs to kill hours until we could check our luggage with the airline.
  7. Good point. My thought would be to make the reservation in *MY* name, then once on board, go to the restaurant, explain the situation and see how they suggest handling it. It might be as simple as them making a note on the reservation that while "Joe Blow" has made the reservation and paid for it, "John Smith" will actually be the one dining with them. If for some reason a satisfactory solution can't be made, you can always cancel it.
  8. Are your reservations linked? If so, I think you can reserve for just them.
  9. Ok. I'll try to remember you don't want anyone commenting on your comments. 🤔 It's a frickin discussion board. Just because you say "this isn't for an individual, I'm just making a comment" doesn't mean no one is allowed to comment on your comment.
  10. I couldn't care less how people decide to spend their money. You want to purchase a 6 hour stay in a cabana for $1500? Go for it. You want to purchase dinner(s) in a specialty restaurant, go for it. IMO, it's not logical to say "the individual dinners only cost us $38/meal/person, which is a good price" which is what I responded to.
  11. Pick a routine restaurant, let's say Texas Roadhouse. You purchase a $100 GC from them. But that GC can only be used between October 1 & October 8. That week, you choose to eat elsewhere. Your other meals lets say cost you $200. So, did you spend $200 or $300 on your meals?
  12. Except for the fact that you're also paying for the meals you're NOT eating in the MDR (or WJ).
  13. This might be RCI's way of controlling the crowds. I will also say when we were there in July, the lines for the slides greatly reduced after 12p.
  14. Not an Apple watch, but I was able to join my Garmin watch to GPS while on Mariner, and it definitely counted the ship speed. This was walking the outdoor track more as an experiment than anything (my phone was in the cabin).
  15. Aside from Cruise Critic? Try a simple google search "Where do cruise ships dock for <insert name of port"? Or, if you mean the actual dock number, once you know the marina/town, google their port schedule.
  16. What about the fish waste in the ocean? It magically disappears near beaches?
  17. When we embarked on Mariner in July (at Term 5), Oasis came in and docked at Terminal 6(?). I believe it was Harmony at Terminal 1. In fact, the poster you quoted even said "near terminal 5".
  18. And we've done multiple cruises WITHOUT an adult in a cabin (but adjacent). So it is NOT a requirement.
  19. Ask yourself why it matters the victim was a "Cruise Ship Passenger" or a "Harmony Passenger". If they had flown there would they say "Hotel guest" or "Delta Passenger"?
  20. Don't know. Tested positive on a Thursday. Had to stay away from work until Tuesday (no negative test required), then required to wear a mask at work for another 5 days. Never took another test.
  21. SOME do. Some think they have to (they're wrong). Others do it for other benefits (I've heard so they can take on four bottles of wine... between the two cabins). That seems a strange reason, but whatever. It is NOT a requirement to do so.
  22. Well first, I've been in grocery stores, restaurants, movie theaters, and various other businesses. Never caught Covid. Went on a ship, and four days after disembarking, tested positive. Now, that being said, I agree we need to learn to live with Covid. I knew there was a chance of catching it, and went on the cruise anyway. Had a great time! That being said, if you don't want to hear about people getting Covid after a cruise, why did you even open the thread? Seems pretty easy to skip it and then you don't have to hear about it.
  23. We've brought friends of our kids on the last two cruises. They stayed in the adjacent room. No issues. And they were <18yo at the time.
