One idea would be to take a Brita water bottle onboard.   We do that whenever the water is fine to drink but might taste bad.   Ship water is heavily filtered and then chlorine is added.   So you just need something to remove the Cl.

If you flew in and wanted to stick more to flavored water you have a brita pitcher delivered to an Amazon locker nearby,

Going off topic a bit. Have you ever sent an Amazon package to a European city locker? How did it work out?

  2. My wife was just diagnosed to need a hip replacement. The surgeon told us that there is a three month backlog for the surgery. Our cruise on Summit is early June so it won't be done prior to the cruise.

We are concerned getting her on the ship on embarking on disembarking. We won't get off the ship in Bermuda.

What is the procedure of getting someone to push a wheelchair onto the ship in Bayonne? Do we contact Special needs in advance or just tell tell them at the pier? Do they have wheelchairs to use for embarking and disembarking? We aren't sure she will need it while onboard during the week.

    Thanks for your assistance.

It's totally plausible that Celebrity's purveyors can't meet demand. Or the cost to meet the demand is not sustainable. The cattle industry will struggle with supply all through 2023 due to a number of factors so I wouldn't expect to see filet and prime rib flowing free anytime soon.

Why is it that Royal has prime rib?

I was on Allure across the pier from Odyssey and took this picture of Odyssey from the jogging track.  I think I have identified 6222 properly based on the hump and cabins counting forward from the hump.

I was on Freedom across the slip from Odyssey in Nassau.  As Odyssey pulled out I tried to grab a series of photos looking straight on for each section.  Here is what I think is 6622 if I have counted properly from the hump going forward.

Here is another report and another opinion from the Enchantment.

Don't kid yourself that the new menus have anything to do with speeding up the dinner process.  It's a budget move by Royal Caribbean.  The choices are fewer, the quality lower, the presentation less appealing.

Someone mentioned that everything was great, except the steak was thin.  Yes. It is about 1/3 of an inch.  There is no way for this to be tender, and it's not.

Food comes out lukewarm at best.  You have to escalate to the headwaiter to get hot food.

And when the food comes out, it is 100% obvious that it was prepped loooong ago and left out to be served whenever.  Toppings are hardened, garnishes are dried out.

If you want two entrees, they are not allowed to bring them out together.  You must finish one, then they can go get the other.  And if you are a consecutive cruiser, you know exactly what you are getting with each entree, and know darn well that you want another, and don't need to be treated like a miscreant child who may be wasting food.

About the "maryland-style crab cakes".  I have always laughed that they have brass balls to put this on the menu on a cruise that departs out of Baltimore.  At least fake the name, because you are faking the food.  There is not one jot of crab in that cake.  It is surimi.  (DallasGuy described it; it's called surimi)  Gooey breadcrumbs and surimi.  No thank you.

IMO, it is very important that people use the end-of-cruise survey to be clear with their comments/complaints.  It is the only thing that will (possibly) move Royal Caribbean.

For those of you who like a little "positive" with the negative:

Wait staff are wonderful, as always, and try their darnedest to please.  The beef carpaccio is delicious.  Caesar salad is acceptable.  Lamb rogan josh is delicious, but sometimes has enough sauce and sometimes doesn't.  It is important that there be enough sauce, because the rice has been left to dry out.  Wedge salad is excellent, and I was able to get extra bacon.

    Now, back to the negative:

Windjammer offerings are GREATLY reduced.  GREATLY.  The signage is almost nonexistent.  You often can't tell by looking at something what it is, and there is no sign to tell you.  Things marked gluten free ARE NOT.  Staff is reduced.  Far fewer walking around with beverages; replacing empty trays of cups/glasses. Salad bar has disappeared the last two days; now there are just some prepared bowls of greens.

This is so on target. Where this ends up, who knows. Some of these things that you wrote are not difficult to change.

    Hello, artvlay,

We were on Rotterdam in December 2021. We were in Cabin 1146 on the Main deck. Because of its orientation there seemed to be more space than most inside cabins. We are Inside cabin fans for a lot of reasons, price being foremost.

    Jim

    Thanks Jim

  7. We eat at early seating on cruises due to wife's digestive issues. We are very experienced cruisers but we always have a set dining table. When we booked a cruise for Summit the early seating was full. Agent gave us anytime dining and instructed me to book reservations online. I followed instructions and got 6pm or 6:15 each night.

So here is the question: When we go to dining room will there be a long line to wait for a table? Will I be able to get the same table each night?

We are Elite members and I don't know if I should contact Captain's Club to request early seating.

    Thank you for your help.

  8. We don't understand. Don't the people at corporate taste these desserts? They serve exactly the same things day after day, week after week with slight modifications. Like the MASH episode, "I've eaten a river of liver and an ocean of fish".

Just got off Anthem on Saturday and asked the Restaurant Manager why the cookies are hard like hockey pucks. I told her to compare them to the chocolate chip cookies at Coco Cay

  9. Haven't booked an interior Cabin on Holland and would like direction from experienced people.

We want to book the largest interior class on Rotterdam. Is "I" the largest?

What is the Spa Interior cabin? How does it differ from regular cabins ?

    Thank you
