  1. We have 87 cruises under our belts. Probably 45 are Royal, 25 Celebrity and the rest spread out among other companies.

In the last six years we only took Royal and Celebrity but that is changing. We agree with others posting on this thread that RC is going down hill and getting much higher in price.

This year we have five cruises booked and only two on Royal. Last month we went on Carnival Venezia. We like the Royal ships layout much better but the Food on Carnival was much better in both selection and quality.

We are going on Princess and Cunard later this year and hopefully they will fill in the gap of the lapses of Royal.

The medallions are slightly smaller than air tag. (medallions will fit in air tag/air tags will not fit in Princess holders).

Yes, you can use an air tag holder for medallions.

So although the Princess Medallion is slightly smaller than the air tag it won't fall out of watchband designed for the air tag?

Discussed at length in various places in this "master thread" for the new App:

Are you using old App or new App?  Are you using latest version?  The latest release of the new App appears to have corrected the forced entry of a CC for shoreside spending.  Several members have posted this on the most recent pages of the new App thread.

Not sure if I downloaded the new version. I did it about ten days ago.

  4. I am completing my  and they want me to fill out "Shipboard" and "Shoreside". I put in my credit card information for Shipboard but it doesn't let me complete the payment part of the boarding process registration. Is it mandatory to put the credit card information in the Shoreside segment? I prefer not to give them the credit card.

14.99 one time fee, order from TV or the app, if you use the phone to order ,another $5

So the $14.99 allows me to order room service or food delivered to me seated by the pool or wherever?

Is there a specific menu to choose from?

Do I purchase prior to the cruise?

If this is all you need, then check your phone plan. With our T-Mobile, we have included international service and on port days, check our messages and if necessary, make calls.

Given today's technology, unless someone owns a business and needs to stay in touch constantly, Princess's WiFi prices are absurd.  Don't forget to go to airplane mode when re-boarding!

Thank you for your great information, it is very helpful.

    This is still free.

    Delivery Choices:

OceanNow: one-time $14.95 fee and you can get food delivered anywhere on the ship *including* your cabin. It has it's own menu that is different from the Room service menu.
Room Service: Using the phone to order from the Room service menu is a $5 charge each time.
Breakfast Door Hanger: Free. Writing in other items sometimes works and sometimes does not.

So, to get clarification from the Knowledgeable people on cruise critic. If I want to get food sent to my room at 4pm, what are my options and costs?

Someone posted a set lunch menu that doesn’t change. It looks great with a lot of great choices. My favorite menu on Princess is the embarkation lunch, shrimp and avacado, lemon butter dill salmon and orange soufflé. Will they still serve that on embarkation???

We haven't been on Princess for a few years. Is the embarkation lunch available for all passengers? Is there a long wait to be seated?

Here is a small, but positive medallion story.  On a recent Princess cruise, I left our cabin, walked around the ship, went to a lecture and did not make use of my medallion.  I returned to my cabin and realized that I didn't have my medallion.  Did I lose it on my walk? Did I drop it at the lecture? Was it in my cabin?  Thankfully, my steward was able to use his device to show that, indeed, it was still in my cabin.  If I had a key card, I would have had no choice but to retrace my steps or go Guest Services to request a new card.  Love the Medallion!

In the past if I lost my card I would go to the desk and get another card.

What happens if  you lose your flying saucer? Is there a charge?

There are no rental car agencies within walking distance of Red Hook.  There is a downtown Brooklyn Enterprise location we have used, but this is not our preferred rental car agency.  We have used (several times) Budget and dropped at their Marriott Brooklyn Bridge location (inside the hotel's parking garage) and there is also a Hertz location on Atlantic Ave.  Our norm is to use Uber to get to or from the rental car.

    Thank you for the advice.

If you don't have Plus or Premier fare booking a call to room service on the phone is $5 per call. Using the morning room service breakfast hang tag does not incur a charge. You can also get service to your cabin by paying the one time fee of $14.95 to activate Ocean Now delivery and use the app to order food or drinks delivered to the cabin.

Thank you for the good information. I would like to hear more about "Ocean Now". What exactly is it? What do you get for the $14.95?

    Thank you
