  1. A few more pics -- Dutch cows "taking a break" 😎 Random "acquaitances" along the way Rembrandt statue -- Another "version" of the "thinking man" of Rodin
  2. Rotterdam -- interesting architecture, and, yes, people live in those "cubes" and we visited one.... It was the only place we got "senior rate". Surprised to find that there are no "senior rates" at any museum in Holland. Moreover, almost all the booking has to be made quite ahead (DS1 didn't find available tickets for Van Gogh or Rijksmuseum...), and cash is also not accepted at the ones where you can just "show up"... Den Haag -- The interior of Escher museum. and an interesting statue
  3. DH next "hurdle" will be on Oct 10th. He's slightly better and I'm optimistic, still think that the aspirin was the "mother of all the bad symptoms". Looking at some of our pics from Amsterdam -- I'm amazed at the sheer "quantity" of cyclers (huge "parking" lots allocated for them). And I admire them for that --- I really don't know how you can find yours... but, then, I remember the movie about the imperial penguins, how one is able to find his "wife" among thousands of them, so...may be this one is the answer 😉 Random pics --
  4. @Ozark_Kid John, wishing you and your party a very enjoyable cruise, without any more snafus... @A&L_Ont Andrew, I really hope your pain will be gone by now 🤞 @Jimbo Glad you had an amazing cruise to Greenland, sorry you've both got Covid. Hopefully, by now, "y'all" OK. @Lionesss Thinking of you, Sue. Take care 🌹 @BonTexasNY Bonnie, also hoping your continuing saga with the "broken" tooth is over 😘 @h20skibum Mark, your GD is very talented. Liked the cake, it seems so much fun for all around. Now, that we also have a son some 5 hours flight away, may I ask how many times a year do u get to met him and his family? @Keksie Karen, adorable kittens. I admire your love for those fur babies. @Husky1987 Larry, glad your "new" house is coming along nicely. Hope you'll get to move back ASAP with all the additional amenities. @sgmn Sue, we enjoyed Edge much more than Beyond, even given the circumstances. The food in OV was better, and so was the service. It also helped that we already "knew" our way around.... Glad you've enjoyed Serenade, and got to meet another member of the family @Sunshine3601 😘 @aussielozzie18 Aussie, thank you for continuing to share your beautiful surroundings, which are a feast to the eye, and thank your DS for those amazing Peggy Cove pictures. .... and.... start practicing your French-Canadian skills 😉 And, last but not least, Deb & Andy @Momof3gurlz So glad you've enjoyed my recommendation of Hotel Fontana. Your Damaso Rome hotel looks amazing too. Yes, you can't beat the easiness of Rome embarkation. Should you decide to "stray" to the OV for dinner, Felix at the "stir fry" station is amazing, and you can choose all the ingredients for your own dish. BTW, we also had from Ken, aka @Ourusualbeach the "All included" and the wifi was the most basic one. We took advantage of our 90 mins pp Elite wifi for accessing more than texts and emails. You can ask do use is gradually, mainly on sea day.
  5. Thank you for remembering. Olivia is doing baby steps, turns out it was quite a long surgery, with a huge cut on her back. She usually sleeps on her back, so now that's out of question. Pain meds. Grateful for all your prayers, which I relayed, and that it was caught "in the nick of the time".
  6. It seems that we should try to stay home... This is not our best year to travel abroad -- health wise. DH and I didn't thrive in Amsterdam... rain and cold are not for us. Suffering from back ache (again), DH took Aspirin Bayer, which is a "staple" in our family, every one of us using it without any side effects, until now... First thing after landing back in Israel, we went to ER, and DH was hospitalized for 3 days. We just came back home (it didn't help that the AC in our car broke down...) with a taxi, one major check up was good, and he has to do another test in the next days. I'll try to post more in a couple of days.
  7. Patti, @Coralc The neighboring cat came to visit... After seeing Bobby's pic, I think they're related. Today we started touring a bit of Amsterdam, using the very efficient public transport. On our way to the Hermitage museum (big disappointment -- the nice collection of impressionist paintings is no longer there), we came upon a memorial of all the Dutch Jews who perished in the Holocaust. The huge number of names was dauting, and DH had tears in his eyes.... Seeing so many names of babies .aged 2-3 months was heartbreaking. We looked for Anna Frank's name. The guide mentioned that her real name was Annelies. She died aged 15.
  8. My vote goes to Hawaii. Paradise on earth. Go for the carry on !!! You can do it !!! On another note -- we made it safely to Amsterdam. The little village our son lives is quaint and lovely. We don't like the house, but they didn't have much choice, and are very happy to find one quickly. The kitchen is made for tall Dutch people, and not for a short person like me.... The first day I've tried to peel potatoes at the sink, it was a huge effort. Today I've bought ready peeled potatoes.... 😉
  9. We've been. Beautiful place. I didn't want to leave. All those and the subsequent pics are amazing. Glad the young couple are enjoying nice weather.
  10. 90 minutes free wifi pp priority tendering separate lounge day of debarkation Elite reception with senior officers
  11. We had a complimentary shore excursion via Ken ( @Ourusualbeach). They took us first via bus to Lerici, and then, via ferry, to Porto Venere. From PV, back to La Spezia again by ferry. I'd advise against trying to do both -- La Spezia is an industrial port, meaning, a free shuttle takes you to the exit. That may take time, they like to "fill" the shuttle to the bream. Moreover, the ferry from Porto Venere to La Spezia is not frequent, and the ferry port is between 20-30 minutes walk to the LS port (and then the shuttle). The ferry ride itself is very nice, about 15 minutes. Too many unknowns for my comfort zone, if your all aboard is 5PM. The tour Ken got us in was advertised as ending at 4PM, but the guide said that it will end at 4.45PM !! I went and told the "in charge" that we don't feel comfortable with the timeline [and that was before finding out that the ferry station is so far away from the port, for sure we would have missed the ship !!!]. She told me: "they [the guides] are doing it all the time". I said: "sorry, when the 'all aboard' is 5PM, we aim to be back at 4PM". Luckily, the "in charge" listened to us, and announced that the guide changed the ferry back from PV to LS to the one at 3.15PM, allegedly putting us back on ship by 3.45PM. "Italian time". The security check is before boarding the shuttle back to ship, something to take into account when calculating times. Pls. let me know if I've explained myself clearly.
  12. Barcelona -- Catalunya Plaza from the El Corte Ingles restaurant (actually recommended for Madrid by Bob @bobmacliberty, but I've thought what goes in Madrid, should be good for Barcelona too 😉) Our hotel, H10 Catalunya Plaza, was right behind the trees, top right. Location, location, location. Hotel Jazz, another well located hotel ( @Momof3gurlz ) was fully booked for our stay. still in Barcelona, one of DH's favorite pic -- Last, but not least.... DH doesn't cease to be amazed by the similarity of "lines" -- one "high-tech" for Celebrity Edge (quite new ship class), one "low-tech" for a donkey (photoshopped) and another one for laundry....
  13. + 1 , and I have to agree with both of you 😉 @bobmacliberty Heartfelt congratulations, sorry to be a bit late 💐
  14. A very sad day .... 22 years 😢. Remembering as I was ironing my sons' army uniforms, and DH came to tell me that "a small plane had hit one of the towers... an accident for sure...".
