The refundable deposit is a kind of insurance, for which you pay more. Should you need to cancel up to 90 days before the cruise, you get your whole deposit back. Then the "rules of cancellation" kick in, no matter which kind of deposit you had. We always booked refundable for the peace of mind, even if we were 100% sure we'd take the cruise.

Eden has been sold out for months for our cruise week. Wouldn't dare to cancel... That's what's worries me -- should they cancel, the whole reservation will be cancelled and we'll be out of luck. We're celebrating our golden wedding anniversary, and I didn't see my cousin for the last 3.5 years of Covid. Of course health comes first and I feel terrible that we'll cruise without them.

A few months ago I've made a linked res for this highly thought after restaurant (my cousin and her DH, coming from Germany and us, coming from Israel). I've paid with my OBC. Sadly, during an annual check up, a "spot" was found in one of my cousin's lungs, unknown origin, and 99% that she'll have to be operated upon next week, thus cancelling her cruise (Sept. 2nd). In this worst scenario, how do I cancel her reservation, while keeping ours? I've tried to find a "modify" option in my cruise planer, no luck... Thanks for any ideas, Dani

I'm more of a "face to face" person. No phone chats... The only exception is my cousin in Germany, we're conversing via WhatsApp, with her and me looking for the right words in Romanian... When "in trouble", we switch to English 😉 She's the only person I still speak to in Romanian. She is having much more "practice", many Romanians found themselves in Germany. I was so looking forward to cruising with her in less than 2 weeks. Incidentally, while doing her annual check up, a "spot" was found in one of her lungs. A CT was performed, but it was inconclusive.... Waiting for the results of a bronchoscopy tomorrow. I have my fingers crossed that she'd not be forced to cancel the cruise 😢

I have the feeling that in the last year, the "regulars" on this thread feel much more at ease to share their daily life and I'm so happy to see this. Following on this "tread", after more than 5 months, our group of HS friends got together again, and the conversation flowed like it was yesterday we last spoke 😁 @Sea Dog Greg, glad you're feeling better. Pls. eat those bananas, they're full of important vitamins and taste great to boot.
