I had read many people saying their 'better' irons didn't work, so I purchased a cheap one and brought it and my better one on our first Mardi Gras trip (the cheap one worked despite it saying it was ceramic and my better one did not).  The cheap one is shown below.  It has now worked on the Mardi Gras (twice), the Sunrise and the Conquest.  My better one is a HotTools one that cost about $100 (sorry I don't recall the model on that one).

Hello!  Interestingly enough, I brought that same cheap curling iron and it didn’t work for me on the Mardi Gras.  So the next time I’m Mardi Gras, I brought a different cheap travel iron and it did work. What did you have the Conair one plugged into? Just the outlet? Or into an adapter?

    Thanks:)

  2. I have 25 Carnival cruises under my belt. I’ve never had a problem with curling iron on any ship other than the Mardi Gras.
Based on other’s experiences, I brought an older model non-ceramic  curling iron on my next Mardi Gras cruise and it worked.  Hope this helps.

Black and White bread pudding excellent.

What we didn’t care for about Rudi was the ambiance. It was noisy and crowded and the tables were all too close together. The venue size did not support the amount of diners and it just didn’t leave us feeling like it was specialty dining. The free dining venues of Chibang and Cucina were more enjoyable and felt more special. Weird.

I agree. The tables for two are smashed together so tightly that you have to turn sideways to move between them. Took away all the ambience for us. Couldn’t relax and enjoy the food when we were worried about bumping elbows with the strangers at the next table!

  4. Thought Rudi’s was very good for the price. Food was very good although my fish was over cooked and I only ate about one third of it. That was disappointing.

Service was good. Don’t expect to be catered to, but courses arrived with good timing and wine glasses were refilled.

I will likely go again if I could choose outdoor seating. Our table for two was uncomfortably close to the two tables next to it. Had to turn sideways and shimmy past people next to us while leaving. Heard every word of the conversations next to us as well. One couple next to us was apparently in the midst of an argument- made it awkward and unpleasant  for me.

Expect very good food for the price paid. To avoid disappointment,  don’t expect phenomenal food or outstanding service. The staffing shortage does extend to the specialty restaurants as well.

  5. Yes. The cost is pretty low.  Sea day activities get boring and repetitive after many cruises.  I feel like it will be better to spend time doing this than playing BINGO for example. I wish Carnival would expand on the options.  Maybe some enrichment activities.

  6. Booked the last remaining cove available on a Mardi Gras sailing.  Unfortunately it was a connecting cabin.  Concerned about the differences vs a non-connecting. Does the door between cabins cause a loss of space?  Does the door cut into the wall? Jut out from the wall?  Is noise an issue?  In all of my cruises I have avoided adjoining cabins. Just hope I can get info on what to expect. Thank You in advance for any info:)

Did you tell them when to use the free drinks OR was it the first 2 drinks you ordered after boarding?

In our case the credits were applied automatically. By the Alchemy bartender for myself and for my daughter, a credit was applied to the brewery tour she had booked.
