  1. My father in law is 91 and although he might pass away, it would be more likely he might become seriously ill. And we would not want to go, other members of the family would start a unstoppable feud, if we appeared to be living it up on his death bed.

When we booked it didn't seem like almost 2 years later this would be an issue (if you know what I mean).

Since my original post, I have really dug Into things.

And although I feel like we have no preexisting conditions. We are late 50's. Meaning I have gerd and take a rx ..... my point is

Although  I think we have no preexisting conditions,  what would an insurance claim dept say, lol.

So I believe I have settled on this, (unless you advise different).

Our cruise was priced oddly meaning my fare was 3 times higher than DH (dh only 700ish)

Going to go with geoblue for both of us and celebrity ins. JUST for me

So we're covered completely on medical and evac thru geoblue and most of our cruise fare covered thru my celebrity insurance. We will simply eat the remaining cruise fare and land portion.

    Ty for any advice

  2. My question is sooooo very specific, I am hoping you might know the answer.

I MUST purchase celebrity (aon) insurance (must have cfar, put deposit jan 2023, cruise nov 2024, Not medicare age yet, so 25k medical should be enough)

I would normally wait until til the day before final payment to add the insurance. But as we age and I read about preexisting conditions (we have none NOW) and the look back time-frame is 60 days. I am considering adding insurance Now; 4 months before final payment just in case some medial thing arises.

My question is this.... usually travel insurance is nonrefundable (hence the usual, buy the day before final payment) if I add celebrity's travel insurance and decide to cancel the cruise before final payment.....would the insurance be deducted from my deposit refund???

I know others will say.... ask celebrity or aon BUT they have reason to tell me what I want to hear

    Thank you for your time.

  3. For the most part, we do just the standard. There are always some workers who deserve more and some that deserve zero. So we like the standard daily gratitude that use to be included (which you actually paid in higher Rates, but we now pay onboard)and so they can figure it out themselves.

  4. Hopefully this will help you.

In January we had the complete opposite experience. We are both rather tall i am almost 5' 10" and my dh is taller. We booked a precruise hotel with Marriott. Bed was soooo low to the ground bc it was a thin mattress on a platform. We left hotel went 20 minutes away (we had our car, cruise was in galveston) to a different brand but still a Marriott, checked in and 😡 platform bed AGAIN.

didn't leave as this was second time we'd paid, 1st refused to refund money.

    >>> 2nd Marriott said.... ALL Marriott now have low platform  beds

So Marriott is a never again for us.

  5. We just did a royal cruise with the non alcoholic package, we don't drink soda (just Bottled water, coffee and juice) and in order to make the math work we had to have 13 drinks between the 2 of us a day.(which wasn't a problem because of the following)

One huge bright spot was the spa cafe, we often had late afternoon smoothies and grabbed a bottle of minute maid apple juice for me to enjoy in the room later. BUT...

I see apex's spa cafe is only open 7-10am and noon-2pm

    > question 1, does celebrity (apex) have bottled juice?

    > question 2, where can I get it other than spa cafe?

    >>> my intention is to Not have to run get a juice before 2pm or store just a glass of juice in my fridge

    > question 3, can you simply order a strawberry banana smoothie from the spa cafe or only there menu smoothies?

Thank you for any replies and advice.

  6. If you are comparing uber prices to something, I found it helpful to get the uber estimate at the same time of day and day of the week we are actually there.

Example flight lands at 4pm Miami time on a Friday...

I did estimate on a Friday 3pm my time because, it will vary and make a big difference.

I'll assume the MIA flights off set the pricing instead of flying into FLL. This is something that always varies for us.

Actually it's bc we can fly nonstop AA from New Orleans to mia at much better times ...than our other 2 nonstop options into/out of FLL (southwest and jetblue)

  8. I am flying into mia and sailing from port everglades later this year. I did a bit of research and landed on this....

The different plans for arrival then departure...

We will arrive mid day and want to get to ft Lauderdale hotel quickly so surprisingly we are going with larrys limo they are the same price as uber xl and a SET price no surge pricing etc.

When we disembark we have a late afternoon flight and are in no big hurry, so we will get uber to trirail station, it is FAR more involved... uber, waiting at train station, lugging bags on to train, at mia transfer to people mover to the actual airport, I watched a youtube.com video and decided it was TOO much hubbub for before we cruise...

The savings from the post cruise will more than pay for thestep up to Larry limo vs small uber PRE cruise

I think once I saw a 15% but that was long time ago and was for like 3 days only.  10% is what it is, easiest is just book it and if a better price comes along cxl and rebook, done that many times on different things with celebrity.  Excursions, drink upgrades etc.  The refund if OBC is usually instantaneous, and cc was always within 2-3 business days.

Sounds like what I will be doing,  ty for your reply 🙂

I haven't seen anything higher on my cruise.  I did the math on what I anticipated spending on my 7 night cruise in Alaska and since it is port intensive even with a discount I would spend more on a beverage package than I would use so I am going to risk it and go without.

Ty for reply , if you've never been.... Alaska is the best, better than I thought it would be

  11. I know the beverage package prices can be different on all ships and itineraries

But my planner has shown the zero proof package at 10% off since I booked Jan last year.

ANYONE have experience with a bigger discount than that??

Just wondering if I should even bother to hope

Too much for you I guess. "Drama" after laying out $3k in total for our worst cruise ever, where dining should've been our most enjoyable aspect. I don't feel the tinest bit guilty.

I for one totally understand your point OP. Sorry that some only take the time to post negative comments. Like all social media, you get people that can't add any real feedback and choose to be snippy.

The cruise planner for eclass is very confusing when it comes to dining. Part of the intrigue was to move away from traditional assigned dining times/tables/venues. Instead, they created 4 MDR’s, each with their own theme and signature dishes..in addition to the other items offered in each dining room. Recently, they added the ability to order any of the dishes unique to a particular venue, regardless of where you happen to be dining. The other unique characteristic of eclass dining is that there is no assigned time… despite what it says in the planner. One simply shows up at a MDR of their time and choosing. IMO this is a fabulous concept and change to cruise ship dining. The problem lies in Celebrity’s failure to communicate this to passengers who are venturing into E class for the first time.

TL;DR:  ignore what is says in your cruise planner and show up when/where you want.

Ty for your detailed reply,  I appreciate it 🙂

  14. I am so confused when I booked long long ago, I simply clicked anytime dining, even though, we HATE anytime bc I was told that was the ONLY mdr seating.

Recently I read on another thread,  someone mentioned early seating, and when I ck'ed my planner it gets even more confusing

It shows I can book cypress, tuscan and Normandie  but NOT cosmo

My anytime can now NOT be changed to early it is full......wt_

Did I miss celebrity's announcement that they were going back to early and late plus anytime.... and celebrity totally _____ me.

  15. Well I went for it, booked via VT

Normally booking 8 months away and before cruises' final payment are not my jam.

But the savings were way too good to pass up.

Plus if I read correctly, room is able to be canceled up to 48hrs before arrive 🙂

Thank you ALL for the advice 🙂

Exactly, nothing to worry about. You will get an email. some times it takes a while. You can always just check with the hotel for conformation. We have used V.T. 6-7 times over the past 10 or so years. Never had a problem. You are not charged until you stay. We have May 18,19 pre cruise, and May 31 , June 1, booked with them for our 10 day Princess cruise.

Ty for your reply, I appreciate it
