  1. Pouring another drink for the unpacker? Selfless and kind! 😀
  2. I have flown with Jet 2 for a couple of weekends away and could check in nearly a month before my flights which meant I could check in outward and inbound flights at the same time.
  3. Bit excessive and I doubt you'll get much out of talking to onboard staff. Why not wait and see how 'the situation' develops and then transfer your allegiances should you feel the need. We will still be booking with Cunard whatever the outcome.
  4. Looks like a CC party in the offing. Have one for all of us left behind! 😃
  5. Trends as in dining styles from other cruise lines have proven popular and although it's very true I'm used to it 'up in the Gods' as opposed to your 'below decks' 😄, a sample, and it is only very small I grant you, of comments on this board show it's welcomed by some. I have friends who book anytime dining and if the relatively new concept on Cunard, along with the existing dress advisories encourage newbies, then I'm sure the Carnival bean counters will be happy bunnies.
  6. I'm pretty sure DHS won't allow anyone to disembark any 'first' US port of call without being 'processed' which usually means 'everyone off'! To repeat a day or two later seems unlikely but if so, tedious in the extreme.
  7. First thing I do is switch the kettle on for coffee, wherever I am so onboard is no different and lounge coffee isn't available anyway. I wonder if I got an Italian phrase book, I'd be able to communicate with the Illy machine more efficiently rather than just utilising a fairly universal swearing technique.
  8. No, she's not but her guests come from all directions, including other cruise lines which do offer any time dining. Keeping up with the trends, and bear in mind open dining is popular with many guests, might mean Cunard will have more chance filling its ships in the future.
  9. The QGs have an Illy but I take my own Instant. I was told by a disgruntled guest her Nespresso pods didn't fit the Illy but that was a while ago.
  10. With President's Day and Veteran's Day sales in Floridian Outlet Malls and factor in BYGOFs as well and I have enough shoes to rival Imelda Marcos. However, as my packing has got more compact, the shoes stay at home. 🙂
  11. Either side of the bed and also above the sideboard in the sitting room from memory. Might be more. Enjoy
  12. DaisyUK and BigMac1953 , have a wonderful time on my favourite ship.
  13. I take two pairs of black evening shoes [with another non black whacky coloured pair] after seeing a fellow passenger break one of her evening shoe heels and didn't have a back up pair. Add a few daywear shoes and they are at a minimum, as are handbags. One very small evening bag does for me. Saves on luggage space. 🙂
  14. I know you were kind enough to be interested in my 1 and 2 comparisons, but just in case you booked a 1, don't forget that whilst deck 7s have a few USB points, the deck 6s don't have any.
  15. Right or wrong, my thoughts are it's to bring Cunard Dining more in line with other cruise lines which have an open dining option. I know folk who are delighted with it so as usual. can't please all the folk all the time. I had a chat with a senior member of staff before Covid and I asked if open dining would ever come to Cunard. The reply four years ago, was 'never say never' and maybe I'm reading too much into that but my thoughts are it's been in the pipeline for a while.
  16. Naomi McFerran Hotel General Manager mv Queen Victoria | Cunard edit This was in reply to an email I sent to her last year. I thought/presumed she was ship based. Is she land based?
  17. IS F.L. a first port of call in the US? We have visited F.L. on world cruise segments and had to 'zero' as it was the first port of call after a non US cruise port.
  18. I don't drink fine wines but I am particular in the wines I do drink. I'm also very particular with pre and post dinner drinks so I'm with Hattie. PAYG. 🙂
  19. Found the solution to clanking hangers. Throw a bath sheet over the rail, the bath sheet being heavier than a hand towel.
  20. Aft, forward and QG midships deck four cabins have a deeper balcony, part of it having no overhang from the deck above which means in sunny climates and tif he ship's position is favourable to your area of the ship, you have the choice of sitting in the shade or in the sun. The only draw back is those above looking down have a bird's eye view if you are by the edge of the balcony, probably wishing they too had the choice of sun or shade!, I know I have envied that position a few times. 🙂
  21. and standing in an emergency onboard etc. Asking for assistance and the use of a wheelchair to avoid possible standing for a while sounds a good idea if standing for a while is a problem. Informing the company of possible issues in the highly unlikely emergency scenario is also sensible. The issues are folk assuming their cabin will be fine for mobility scooters, foldable or other wise, without checking first, those who don’t inform the company prior to embarkation they need help and expect assistance to board, those who in an emergency would not be able to use stairs or would be very slow with their sticks etc…
  22. Golly, I hope not. We have a S'ton b2b booked and I'm hoping to do laundry!!! How exciting is that! 😀
  23. You might be able to take advantage of the cabin bidding system nearer the time if you booked direct with Cunard.
  24. Jeepers, that's one thing less for the 'fings are going down hill' lists.
