  1. We've had an obstructed balcony on Miracle (sister ship) You won't have an obstructed view looking out and standing at the railing you can see perfectly down to the water.

The life boats will either come to the floor of your balcony or to the rail of your balcony. So it depends on which room you end up in what your view sitting on your balcony will be.

I loved our room and was very happy with it. So to me, I would be okay with the chance of one of those to save a couple hundred

  2. I think you could leave the uppers pushed up, sleep the littlest in bed with mom and dad, and the other 2 sharing the rollaway. My 5 and 7 year old usually sleep together on the couch bed with ones head at each end of the bed, and it looks about the same size as the rollaway. You would just tell your steward to always leave the uppers put away. Good luck!

This is what I would suggest doing.

Another idea if your driving to port, you can purchase a portable cot for the toddlers to sleep on. Would take up less room than the trundle bed and can fold them out of the way during the day

  3. Watch out for opening the cabin door if someone is has the balcony door open. Learned that when DH & I went out for an adult night.

My mom (who was staying in the next room and we had the balcony partitions opened) decided to sit out on the balcony with the balcony door wedged so she could hear if the kid woke up. Holy wind tunnel!!

Nothing better than ordering room service coffee to have on your private veranda in the morning.

Late at night sitting out with a cocktail watching the lights on far off islands and passing ships in the distance.

  4. I see $50 PP deposit sales sometimes.

I hope there's another one soon. I couldn't convince DH to book now. He says we have to take our upcoming cruise first. 😡

I agree with $250pp is a lot for me to dish out at once, especially if I'm booking a year or more out, now that there's a kid to pay for too.

  5. i have a very small tote bag that I carry around the ship. I have my Card in a lanyard and tie it to the strap ( doesn't get lost and easy to pull out to swipe.) The tote also carries the other things that I "need" for the day: bottle of water, sunblock, Kindle, camera, etc.

I also have a wristlet for evenings, a cross body bag that I use for ports that I'll be walking around, and a waterproof bag that is wearable for water excursions.

  6. Get their booking number or link their booking to yours. I suggest doing that anyway if you have assigned dining and want to be seated together.

I was able to both upgrade my parents room to a balcony over the phone (with some OBC. Thanks ES price drop!) and I purchased FTTF for them on the website.

I think I just needed my dad's name, DOB and maybe phone number or email to link our reservation over the phone.

I've never sailed on Magic (hopefully next year 🙏) but looking at the deck plans, my guess would be here on deck 4 by the library. It just seems like a good place for it.

Where ever it ends up, that's where you'll find me. Loved it on the Miracle and stopped there almost every night

  8. Thank you ForwardCabin for posting those pictures. I was looking at booking the Magic for next year.

Thanks to your pictures, I know I would be one of those people that hates Cove Balconies. I felt trapped and panicked just seeing the pic with the lifeboat above.

Glad Carnival has a variety of cabin styles to suit different cruisers

  9. I did that cruise last April when my son was 19 months. He had a blast on the ship and enjoyed playing at the camp during the open play mornings.

We're going on the 4 day out of LB next month, I'm looking forward to see how he does now that he's old enough to stay in the camp

  10. Catalina is super close. You can see it pretty easily on a clear day from LB. A friend who took this cruise said they basically did a figure 8.

We're taking this cruise in a few weeks b/c we got an amazing deal and even though we live in Orange County, we've never been to Catalina. Hope we get lucky with the weather. Been colder this year than its been in a long time

  11. I'm not offended by the word training. I trained my dog to do lots of tricks using rewards and treats. My son learned to use the potty b/c that's what mom and dad do and he likes to copy. Would you say your kid is fork trained when they learn to use utensils?

But the terminology isn't really important. PTed / PLed. Either way my kid doesn't wear diapers and can tell us when he has to go to the bathroom.

If we can't use the kids club, that's fine. I'm not going to put him back into diapers just so he can go play.

  12. We're taking my 2 year old on his 2nd cruise next month. It'll be the first time he's old enough for CC, so we're going to try it out and see if he likes it. His great-grandma babysits him at home while mom & dad work, so he's never been in daycare/left with non-family, so not sure how he'll do.

Anyway, my question is about the bathroom procedures. Carnival's site says they'll change diapers for those not potty trained at this age, but will they help kids that are PLed?

My son is 100% PLed, but he can't pull his pants up/down or wipe for himself yet. I was considering NCL for Oct cruise and their site specifically says that they won't, so that lead me to try to search Carnival's site.

  13. I recall reading somewhere a while ago that Carnival was ending their contract with EA Sports, and that the EA Sports bars would be going away. This amenity is not one I am particularly interested in, so I didn't pay much attention to the chatter about it. Do Carnival ships still have the EA Sports Bar?

One of the upgrades on the Miracle's dry dock last year was a new sports bar. Non branded.

  14. Since it seems like you really don't want to carry on the pop, then dont. Order through Bon Voyage and have a couple cans in your room. You can always purchase more on board later if you need it. I believe you have until the 2nd day to purchase bottomless bubbles.

Also, if you're prone to motion sickness, start taking your dramamine a day or two before your cruise. My husband likes the wrist bands.
