  1. What walk at Clearwater? The best beaches on the east end of Bermuda for someone with mobility issues would be Clearwater or Tobacco Bay. Tobacco has no surf and Clearwater has minimal surf. Both have chair rentals, John Smiths does not have chairs. There can be some surf. It is on the south shore. Crystal Caves is about 88 somewhat steep steps down and up so the person who had leg surgery might not want to do that. There is a nice outside waiting area. They could wait there the 20 minutes the rest of the group goes in the cave.
  2. I almost always carry water even on travel when not going to a beach. Cold and cool weather trips to Iceland and Yellowstone I had my refillable water bottle in my day pack.
  3. Have you been to Tobacco Bay? Another beach that has not been mentioned that I like is John Smith's Bay. There are lifeguards there and a porta potty. Maybe Thursday, Friday, Saturday there is a food truck. The buses are not difficult to figure out but as has been mentioned they have become unreliable so I have become a taxi user as I don't need to be a budget traveler but when I took the buses I found that the pass may have been convienant I spent lees using single tokens. If you decide to go to Warwick Long Bay the drivers of the $7 minibus shuttles to Horseshoe might drop you off there for $8. That is how i got to Warwick in 2019. Oh, and bring water........LOL
  4. I will add to your good summery that it has been reported that someone is doing a small concession lately at Warwick sometimes. I would I go not expecting it but if they are set up being pleasantly surprised. One thing I don't like about Warwick is the deep drop off, In found it hard getting out when there was heavy surf but since Jobson's is close by people can easily move there. A short walk. It is actually not far to walk to Horseshoe. I often start at Warwick and walk the mile or so to end up at Horseshoe. Blue Hole has no facilities. It is not really a beach but here might be a small beach area.. There are caves and a lagoon you are not supposed to swim in but people do anyway. Jumping in is a thing. It is pretty much at the same bus stop as Crystal Caves, Swizzle inn. It was a very long time ago (about 15 years) that I was there so my memory is a little hazy.
  5. I always bring water from the ship. Have to bring water as I often gone to beaches other than Horseshoe that don't have a concession. And since I don't drink that much and cruise mostly on Celebrity I get some waters every day from my Elite Plus perk instead of alchohol beverages. I also have a collapsable water bottle I fill. Usually never buy at the concession but I do recall water at the concession used to be less than buying onboard. I guess they might have raised the price. I would not be surprised if they tossed those old beach chairs. They were in bad shape, They were using them in 2000 and maybe before.
  6. The previous concession replaced old worn out beach chairs they used to have about five years ago with the really comfortable lounge chairs that are in the photo. They did keep a few of those old chairs for those who wanted them. I don’t know if the new concession still keeps any of the old chairs around. It’s probably not something most people will notice.
  7. Chase Saphire Reserve included rental car insurance is primary. That said I would never consider the Chase Reserve included insurance sufficent for a cruise. I use it for air travel but when I cruise I buy a cruise policy.
  8. I have found over the years that I can't count on anything as far as the internet on cruise ships. Even the same ship a year later. With VPNs one year they work, the next year they don't, then they do again. Also ship location , the farther north the worse the internet quality.
  9. From the title I would guess it was off topic. But in any case they don't have to tell you anything.
  10. When I took my first cruise to Bermuda many years ago I saw passengers with slings. I asked what happened. A lot the bike slid and they didn't know why. That was when I became aware of the danger. Every cruise after to Bermuda I noticed slings and road rash injuries. That is why like you I discourage the scooter rentals. There was a serious accident on Wednesday that sent a visitor from the US to the ICU with serious head injuries. https://www.royalgazette.com/news/transport/article/20220701/female-us-visitor-in-icu-with-head-and-leg-injuries-after-being-thrown-over-wall-following-crash/
  11. Bermuda gets a passenger manifest.
  12. If you have insurance you are not screwed. Did you buy travel insurance?
  13. Yep. If someone passes away in their cabin and no one notices questions will be asked and the attendent will be in trouble. This has happened!
  14. I think they have to be Bermuda boats. For sure whoever operates them has to be licensed in Bermuda and they have union rules. There are reefs, the channel there is narrow. Passengers are always going to be inconvienced
  15. I don't think they can change that. The muster stations are designated for safe evacuation when the ship is designed and they never get changed.
  16. Tendering and it’s problems is Carnival’s fault. They scheduled the ship that way for your sailing and for the July 20 sailing. That you were tendering has been on the port schedule for months. They should have informed passengers. Carnival really did a disservice to their passengers scheduling the ship on dates when they could not dock.
  17. Not strange at all. Since it was not being used much that made it a good space to repurpose.
  18. Tendering always seems to be a mess when it happens there. Probably because it is rare.
  19. If the second cruise of the back to back was to Bermuda like the first they would have needed a test. I didn’t know about the unvaccinated children but that would explain it.
  20. No one needed a Covid test to return to the US by cruise. It was not required. There may have been passengers flying home to countries that required a test or taking a back to back cruise.
  21. We can't have a discussion on that per Cruise Critic rules but I am only stating the Bermuda requirements. None would have been allowed to board 12 or over if unvaccinated. Our opinion does not matter to Bermuda. Also Bermuda also does not accept a certificate of recovery period. Does not matter what the cruise lines accept. Their country their rules.
  22. Three ships is unusual. I believe that it happens once more this season. July 20/21.
  23. Thanks. There is no tax in Bermuda. $55 is not bad as it includes entertainment.
  24. You can not be on a Bermuda cruise unvaccinated unless under 12 years old. No exceptions. No exemptions!
