  1. Normally it's advertised with signs. However, the weather was definitely going to be bad on our sailing, so I didn't see any notice. In the past, the break even point was ~4 cocktails or 5 beers. That's hard to do if you are there from 8-2. If you have a long day there, it's a decent value - but only if you are committed to drinking on the beach. I honestly don't think we got the HMC beverages in close to 20 years. We're good for a drink or two on the island, but that's about it.
  2. Usually you can. We missed HMC in December, so I can't be sure if they're still doing it. They always have done it in the past.
  3. It's a system hack to show the meal values in the booking system. I asked. You can ignore it. None of that shows in our copy, but it does in the back end.
  4. The cabana guys on the Nieuw Statendam in mid December were still getting food from the Lido. Breakfast was either from the room service menu or from NY Pizza & Deli. Lunch was from Dive-In, NY Pizza & Deli or the Lido. They had all 3 menus available. The drinks menu was from the Crow's Nest.
  5. I don't know, as we weren't on prior to drydock. We never had trouble getting a seat.
  6. I'd go with the taxi. We live in Fort Lauderdale and the taxi from ship to the airport or vice versa is simplest way to go.
  7. Just hold a booking and finalize it when you can talk to someone on Monday.
  8. All of our sailings, dating back to 1994, have had a priest on board. We have our first ever Easter cruise coming up in late March. We're not Catholic, but delighted that we'll have a member of the clergy.
  9. About $300 on average. The last we were in Santa Barbara for the day, we spent $1,800 on wine, and approx $600 on dining. Our spend varies by port. It could be zero. It could be thousands.
  10. I most definitely can. I have been using a travel router for more than a decade. One needs some networking skills, but it's totally do-able. Our normal load is 6 devices. A laptop, two tablets, two phones, and a Kindle. We've gone as high as 23 downstream clients. If you don't want to mess with the roll your own network stuff, buy the 4 device plan.
  11. MAC address. If you have one logged on, and then try to log in a second one, the system will kick off the first.
  12. Please note that Lisa's husband, Tom - shown in photo #1 - is not standard equipment in aft Neptune Suites. 😁
  13. The "sister" ships are: R-Class: Volendam and Zaandam Vista Class: Zuiderdam, Oosterdam, Noordam & Westerdam Signature Class: Eurodam & Nieuw Amsterdam Pinnacle Class: Koningsdam, Nieuw Statendam & Rotterdam For the most part, the sister ships will have the same stateroom layouts & numbering schemes. The decor differs and there are some other differences, like the bathrooms on the KDAM I mentioned or the fact that not all the R Class ships got the Lanai treatment.
  14. Ask your HAL rep to tell you the square footage of the interior & balcony on your room and the ones you see in the photos. Their booking system has the data for the Pinnacle Class ships. (I think it's total sf only on the older ships. They should be the same across all the Pinnacles. The NS & RTDM have different bathroom layouts, with shower only. The KDAM still has a tub.
  15. Since the purchaser a dollar for 90 cents, and the AARP makes money off the gift card program, I would expect that HAL is "eating" 12 - 13 cents on every dollar. The AARP isn't an altruistic organization, dedicated to paying for geezers' vacations. Their gift card programs are a money maker for them.
  16. There are quite a few photos of Koningsdam aft Neptunes on HALfacts.
  17. That's brutal! You make a right on SE 17th Street and a right on Eisenhower Blvd. There are giant signs once you get into the port.
  18. Still there, but not nearly as nice as the one on the Rotterdam. They held both whiskey and wine tastings there in December.
  19. I know they have diet Coke & Sprite. Is there sugar free tonic or ginger ale?
  20. We ran into something similar with my father in law. He was upper 70s and we wanted to go to Stingray City in Cayman. We simply booked with a private company. Don't risk booking something you know you cannot do. HAL has everyone's date of birth.
  21. If you have trouble making a dining reservation in the app, try the HAL website, or vice versa. I happened to spot the Morimoto pop up on the website, but it's never appeared on the app.
  22. If you have a site survey program or app, you should be able to get a pretty good idea of how close your are to an AP and where the best place to set up in your room is. I've found it's either closer to the door or the window in most cases. If I get lucky, the signal is strong by the desk. I use WiFiMan for Android on my phone, but there are apps and programs for most platforms. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ubnt.usurvey&hl=en_US&gl=US&pli=1
