  1. After 2 weeks on the Sunshine, we now have 3 extra tote bag thingies in their original packaging we have no use for. I've read comments from others who have caps they don't want but would like on of these bags - if that's you, let's see if we can swap a bag for a cap (or something else cool...).

If you respond to this thread, I wll give you an email contact so we can work out the details.

I would love to have one or more of those of bags have 2 tervis tumblers sitting here doing nothing. strous1@msn.com

  2. No chance u can re route and catch it at a port :) Sorry u are missing it that stinks. I know that was one of the worst storms we have had this year 6 inches plus of snow and then Ice , thought I was going to have a heart attack shoveling that crap it was like cement . That storm in the south and they would have shut down for weeks . Thank goodness we are equipped to handle it here.

  3. I am no fan of CD in 16 cruises only ran into 2 that considered really great that actually mingled freely amongst the crowd, and I thought made a difference in our cruise. Saying that not sure you could just do away with them and leave it to Joe Blow behind the scenes person to organize all of that stuff . They have a job to do some people really love them I like some don't go out of my way to even read the ship paper to even see who it even is. Don't really care. But like I said some were so good they were everywhere I met them and they made it fun. I have met some of their asst. that were fun as well.

  4. I completely agree! We were the same way with our first two cruises. We were confined to Carnival Excursions because we felt like we needed to do something big in every port and we missed out on so much by not just being leisurely and walking around.

This next cruise we are taking will be different. We are planning no excursions ahead. Just wander around port, maybe find a taxi and have a beach day/local lunch.

    Good advice, Frito.

That would the other thing don't forget that excursions on the islands are very safe and will get you back to the ship at much better price and usually a much smaller crowd . But we always make sure to have a very safe window as well. But I always do a LOT of research on the ports page and find those hidden gems.

  5. They can't fill the ships as it is now another reason for people to look elsewhere to spend their vacation dollars. I don't even smoke that much just an occasional cigar and yes I smoked them on the balcony never when anyone was around but its getting so ridiculous. Yell at me if you want but we have almost 20 cruises between Carnival and RCI I am sure there more people just like me that wont post this for fear of getting flamed, guess we will stick toward Carnival or book AI beach vacations.

  6. We will be going here in Jan. Do they supply beach towels?? When is lunch served?? Many thanks for any other info. We are on the Carnival Freedom (1/11/14). Looking forward to a nice time at the resort!! John & Priscilla :)

I just looked back at picture of our group and they did provide us towels either that or we all bought the same striped towels lol and they weren't ship towels . Lunch was noonish give or take and was very good. You wont regret booking this they were very nice.

  7. We went last April and thought is well worth the trip and the money, as I recall it was 10- 15 minutes . Don't remember the exact cost but it was very reasonable. There was 6 of us. Lunch was VERY good and plentiful. Drinks were okay Beer was draft and served in a plastic cup . Free flowing. My wife did want a Strawberry Daiquiri but no mix for it. She did make her a Coconut something that was YUMMY actually several of them. The place is just beautiful and we had blast. They do have free wi-fi if anyone cares you have to sit in one area. The pool is nice as well.

We all went to the beach and sat under a shaded area or the guys did and the women soaked up the sun . The bar was very close by so no a long walk to get more drinks. I would go back in a heartbeat . They treated us very nice just like we were guest of the hotel. :):)

There ended up being like 12 or so of us from our CC that went. Another group of 6 came out after we did and spent the day as well.

We also asked our cabbie to come back for us a set time and he was there . Well not the guy that brought us , but another guy was there and waiting.

  8. I don't think they will let you book independent anymore when Carnival is docked. I talked to Leo who works for the tour company and told me that no outside vendors were allowed in anymore when Carnival is in town . At least that's what he told me as we had booked a jeep tour there with him the first time we went and i said something like can we do the jeeps And he said no not anymore

  9. There must be an organization of scammers! In Memphis, an older woman with grand-son

in tow, asked for food money, then headed for liquor store! Kroger parking lot in

Cincinnati, man asked me for $20 for gas, wife & new baby need ride home, mother-in-law has broken leg, his car out of gas. Told him someone in Kroger would call agency to

help him. Became angry, walked away and went to another person.

Actually this is becoming a quite popular SCAM people need to be aware of. Its being used all over . It happened to my Brother here in Central Ohio as well . People are using a version of it the yada yada I ran out of gas , I need to get home could you spare X amount and then if you watch them they head across the parking the lot to someone else And away they go.

  10. Here's our experience last week: When we entered the terminal, a man approached us from the liquor store and told us there was a duty free liquor store we could shop in. My husband said, "Thanks, but we already have our two bottles to bring on board." The man said, "After you check in, you can come back down and buy more to bring with you."

So we checked in (including the table where they looked at and okayed our two bottles of wine) and brought our stuff on the ship. About an hour laters, my husband and another from our group walked back down to the duty free shop, each bought two more bottles of wine, had them checked at the same table by the same guys and brought them on board - no problems.

Not guaranteeing it will always work this way, but it did for us.

BTW, check in overall was very easy and very fast. We arrived at about 11:20 and were on board within 10-15 minutes!

Thanks it worked that way for us at the other pier when sailed Carnival , even hard Liquor was getting in, they didnt even care what it was as long and i will repeat wwhat they told us make sure every thing is out of your pockets and in your carry ons LOL they were more concerned with things like knives weapons or whatever not alcohol .

  11. ahhhhhhh... so good for the way home :D

But you get good prices at the airport as well and you are past securtiy , plus they box it for you . So you walk right on the plane with it. All you need is a boarding pass, so you cant buy it on the way in . :(

  12. My head is spinning trying to figure out what to do at our ports. We've been on many cruises, but a few new ones this time, and a few we haven't been to in a long time. Could I get some suggestions based on what we want to do at some ports?

We love the beach and being on the water. Hubby wants to go fishing at one of the ports. I know St Lucia and St Kitts offer that. Want to do some ziplining and also some touring. Any you would suggest?

Some places have must do's and don't want to miss that either.

Barbados- May want to do Harrison Cave and the beach?

    St Kitts-

    Antigua

    St Lucia

St Maarten- Been to many times. Always do the America's Cup. I might want to go to Maho Beach to watch the planes land. Anything else to do while we're there? Hubby wants to sail again. Depends on what I come up with.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

We did Royston a 2010 at St Kitts it was a lot of fun , he showed a lot of the island , an old fort , plus a beach stop , his price included lunch a cooler full of beer and sodas and water . He was such a nice guy and all for like $30 a pp I remember giving him a very nice tip.

Antigua we are doing Coconuts beach club on this cruise $45 pp AI drinks food , chairs pool everything they offer and tip looks great havent done it yet but gets great reviews from several people . $15 taxi ride each way .

  13. Do you work for Frito? That is where my husband works.

I did for 20 plus years as route driver , had an up and down the street route , had to retire in 09 due to cancer . But all is good . I am still on the right side of the grass. :):)
