  1. Must we nitpick about THAT, too? "Irritant" or "allergen", it's all the same. My wife becomes PHYSICALLY ILL when exposed to cigarette smoke. Migraines, vertigo, gasping for air, etc. Need I go on, or do you get my point???

Um, it is not the same at ALL and you are the one that posted your wife was "HIGHLY allergic". I was not nit picking, but making false statements just isn't right. Yes, I am in the medical field.

  2. I was told by three different crew members (including an officer) that we did indeed have 17' seas at one point. That's when they put the barf bags out by the elevators, and my son said there was vomit in the aft elevator. Deck 5 was flooded, deck 4 suffered water damage as a result. My neighboring cabin mates said their room phone never worked, and they were given three different remotes to try on their TV, and it never worked either. One fellow I spoke to down at guest services said his toilet wasn't working for two days and he was downstairs yet again to complain about low water pressure in his shower. I personally knew of people who were getting double billed for everything from bar services to getting charged $40 for a bottle of water. I paid $160 for the internet package, and had to visit guest services multiple times because even though I signed out, it was still eating up my minutes. And it was so painfully slow I couldn't even print off my boarding passes. One fellow got so frustrated with it, he smashed his fists down on the keyboard. There were empty soap dispensers in the public washrooms (even after "suggesting" they should be filled). The casino was way too smoky and they need to install ozone generators or air purifiers to rid the smell. The smoke reached as far back as the atrium bar at times and my wife is HIGHLY allergic to cigarette smoke. The crew did their best under the circumstances, but things certainly could have been handled better. Maybe in retrospect, this just wasn't this ship for us. I hope her upgrades do more for her reputation.

As you state above, your wife cannot be HIGHLY allergic to cigarette smoke. Cigarette smoke is an IRRITANT, not an ALLERGEN.

  3. We are going on our first Carnival cruise in March 2016. Our first cruise was in March 2014 on Royal Caribbean. We are in the older group (69 & 73). DW will be using a scooter going forward. I have found that there is a lot of negative postings on CC about both lines. I could let these postings scare me off cruising completely or just go with the intention of enjoying myself regardless of what other people say. We did that this year & I have now become addicted to cruising. I sailed again in October & I have 3 more booked including the 14 day on Pride in March 2016. I'm kind of excited trying another ship but also nervous about something new to me. Do many people post positive remarks about this ship?

Hi PTAngel. My expectations and excitement of sailing on the Pride were as high as they could possibly be. 20 something cruises and this is the first one that let us down. Aside from meeting tons of wonderful people, and the food being pretty good, I have nothing positive to say. I only hope, that they rectify all of the problems by the time the ship goes back to Baltimore. I will never, ever cruise out of Tampa again.

  4. I'm not trying to sound rude, but if you already knew the potential experience of a post dry dock cruise and sailed anyway, I just want to know why you would write off an entire cruise line?

I know you are not trying to be rude. Sorry if I made you feel that way. The way everything was done on the Pride, is unheard of. People screaming that they had flights to catch, but it did not matter to THEM. THREE hours late for disembark. So anyone that had a 2:00 or UNDER flight, missed it. I was not one of them. It really was not a problem for me as we rented a car for other destinations, BUT, all of the people that had flights and limos that were in my section, were hysterical.

It is advised by CARNIVAL itself, NOT to book flights before 12. All of those people missed their flights. Who pays for this? Carnival? Of course not.

  5. I am not excusing Carnival for poor service or a dirty ship, but that kind of stuff happens on all the big lines right after a dry dock. Read reviews on RCI and NCL boards for ships fresh out of dry dock. Unfortunately they are all too quick to put a ship back in service, before she is really ready.

Thank you, but I have been cruising for many, many years and know exactly how it works.

  6. why not just go to the buffet on those nights?

Sorry. To each their own. The buffet is for people that do not want to get out of their shorts, flip flops, wife beaters...etc.

I would much rather go to the experience of a restaurant than stand on line and SCOOP food out of a container.

  7. We are sailing with another couple and they wanted the early seating for dinner and we prefer the my time dining. It's one half of the couples first time cruising and his better half wanted him to have the full cruise experience of the assigned seating for dinner. We prefer to be flexible and told them to book whatever they wanted--it's their vacation.

My question is--if they decide on one or two nights not to go to early seating, are they able to do the my time dining??

I whole heartily agree with you. After trying it on NCL Breakaway, we were in awe. Not bogged down to a schedule and LOVED it.

Did it on the Pride (Yuck) last week and loved it as much. Hopefully they will change their minds.

  8. As I stated before. I had a broken leg...in a wheel chair.....waiting for 3 hours for us to be the LAST to disembark. Worst cruise EVER. I was THERE during this fiasco.....so unless any of you were there also...you have no idea the hell everyone went through.

I was there also and agree with you. I actually was waiting for a riot to break out. It was awful. I have never experienced anything like this in all of my cruises.

  9. Always put your important stuff in the carry-on. Especially if you NEED something since the shops on-board won't be open either until we're out to sea! Tylenol, meds, toothbrush, bathing suit (hot tub, pool), clothing change if you're coming from the airport....

    FOUR DAYS!!

Great advice. We are on the same cruise with you. See ya Sunday!!!!

  10. It's rare that I can finally attempt to repay the people here with info, as most of the time, I'm asking for info!! Happy to help!!!

Like Virginia said, you may want to request a wheelchair to assist your boarding thru Special Needs, too-- that way they know you are coming and you will need help and can keep a count of those that will need it-- and plan for staffing, too!!

    :):):) Thank You

  11. When I've cruised with my mom on a walker, someone has come around and pulled us out of the line and into a special area. Then they boarded her in a wheelchair and we took her walker while she put her carry-on on her lap. Pretty easy, although there may be some waiting for a wheelchair.

I recommend waiting, as those knee scooters can be pretty tiring, especially in a slow moving line. Just wait for the wheel chair so you have more energy to scoot around on board later!

Really? Wonderful. Kisses and thank you. As I said before, I never took notice of what they do for the HC....so great to know they are taken care of. :)

  12. Call special needs and let them know. They will take care of arrangements for you to get on the ship, and help you deal with the lines. They will also have you on the list for assistance if needed with muster drill and evacuation protocol.

I normally cruise with a friend that's in a wheelchair, and I use a cane, and we are normally in the first boarding group, or they let us board with Priority, depending on how many are disabled that are cruising at the same time.

Thank you Patti. This is great to know. I am glad they do assist with HC. I guess it is not until you are in the "same boat" (no pun intended) that you appreciate what a permanently HC person has to go through.
