  1. Need a little advise folks.

Leaving Sunday for a cruise. I broke my ankle about 6 weeks ago. (badly) Have been in a wheel chair because I am total NON weight bearing.

Just went to the Doctor and I am now on a rolling walker. (partial weight bearing)

When I get to the ship, do they let situations go in front of the line?

I have been on dozens of cruises and have never taken notice of this procedure.

I already have arrangements with the airline, so no problem there.

I don't want to be one of those people that abuses the system, but I know in 5 days, I am not going to stand or walk for long intervals.

  2. For those recently on Pride out of Tampa, what time were you able to leave the ship? Trying to book our car service for the airport. Thanks in advance!

Over on the "Port" section, there are a few people that live in Tampa that answer questions with expertise all the time. They are great. Post your question over there...I know the Tampa port has a "fog" problem and sometimes the ships are delayed. Here is the link:

  3. Does anyone remember if they have applesause on the salad bar on the fantasy.? Need it for the lil one to take medicine......if not will bring travel size cups. Thanks:)

I do not recall EVER seeing applesauce. (doesn't mean they don't have it), just never saw it. If this is the only way for your child to take meds, I would not even chance it. I would just bring my own.

  4. I remember on one cruise, this very LARGE man got in one of the hot tubs (with much hardship), bucket of beer on the side. Hubby and I were nearby for the whole sea day.

He never ONCE got out of the hot tub to go to the mens room. Really? We never go in the hot tubs or pools.

  5. no has nothing to do with the $2 tip i can assure you that. I'd rather have it on a tray all covered and left for me so when i wake up its there.

Not buying it. How are they supposed to know when you wake up? You still have not answered any of us. Why don't you want them knocking on your door. Again, there are no carts. The tray would be on the floor for anyone to kick, touch, pick at. How do you tip the delivery steward if he does not knock on your door???????

  6. I have to say, I am a little baffled by this question. Why would one not want someone to knock on the door? You would rather that the steward leave your food on the floor and you keep checking to see if it is there? Mmmmm. Perhaps this saves you a $2 tip?

  7. I read that your original 4J is a HC (handicap cabin). MayI assume that one of you needs a handicap cabin? If not, most of us would not book it as someone with a handicap might need it. Also there is a good chance you would have been moved if needed. Once in awhile when booking a guarantee such a cabin will be assigned but rarely. If this will be your first balcony you may never want to go without one again. Have a great trip!

No. The original poster did not have a HC 4J.

The poster that said the bathroom was enormous is the one that had the HC 4J.

Plus, the OP has stated twice already, that she upgraded to a balcony.

  8. Friday the 13th, no she is not footing the bill nor were we doing this for our kids! It came highly recommend by her as she's had this type of room before. She thought that we would enjoy it as well. Besides selling out and being billed as a "secret they don't tell you about" we went with her recommendation.

I just got off of the phone with our PVP. He can indeed get us into a balcony room with money remaining. Over $100 left over! Apparently during this 35 hour sale, the prices has dropped quite a bit. I was excited so that I didn't ask if that meant OBC or a refund. My guess is they have our money they will keep our money. Either way is good for me and my wallet.

Thank you all for your help and support. I just wasn't sure what to do and how you all felt about this type of room (4J). I guess it will have to wait for another time for us to experience.

    YIPEEEEEE.....congrats congrats congrats.

You are going to be sooooo happy with your decision. I see you are going on the Conquest, so I looked up the REAL actual pictures of 4J. Sooooo tiny. No couch. Just like we had on the Glory. You are going to love the extra room, the sofa, and the amazing balcony.

  9. IMO, they sell out because they're basically an ocean view at an interior price. And the bathrooms are GIANT.

Did you have the HC 4J.? I know these are giant, but the standard 4J are the same as any other cabin we have ever had

  10. It's crossed our minds, but DD insists we need to try this type of room. "They don't sell out for nothing mom" is what she tells us.

She is wrong. They sell out fast because there are only a few of them. We have stayed in them twice. Depending on the ship, most 4J's do not even have a sofa.

    Did you book Early Saver?

  11. How do I go about doing that please??

Only asking this because my hubby is not very good with the computer, but are you "new" to this? If so, do you have someone that can help you? I know when I started learning the computer 10 years ago, I was constantly calling my kids.

  12. We went out in our boat last July and cruised close to both Summit and Breakaway that were both docked at Dockyard at same time.

Summit - ugly ship - rust shown on hull.

Breakaway - nice ship - ugly hull design - but no rust shown.

Whenever we cruise on older NCL ships we do not see rust on hull - they keep on painting here and there all the time.

You have not even been on the Summit, so not sure how you are able to say it is an ugly ship. The Summit is beautiful.

You are comparing the outer rust?????? The Breakaway is brand new, so of course it has no outer rust.

  13. Sorry to doublepost, I missed this before my last response. Our cruise on Breakaway was our first after many on other lines, including RCI, X, and Carnival. I actually felt substantially less nickle and dimed on the Breakaway than I did on either of my two immediately preceding cruises, on RCI's Allure and X's Silhouette. I know NCL has had that reputation for many years, but it didn't ring true at least on my one NCL sailing last week.

I left this part of your question out of my post also. I VERY much agree with this poster. I do not remember ONCE being bothered on the Breakaway. On the Summit (which I told you we loved) we were CONSTANTLY hounded by the cocktail waiters on the lido deck. Even if our drinks were half full, they would still say "Mr. Karl, are you ready for another" (never asked me...lol...just my hubbie)
