  1. No benefit unless you need to budget your money. I used to pay upfront when i booked but with all the cancellations i have been booking with the least deposit possible and do not make final payment until the last week. I usually book a year or 2 in advance. After feb 15 i guess they are going back to non refundable deposits  therefore i booked 2024 with only a $100 deposit.

  2. I am the opposite of these people. I pay full price ,no casino rates for us. We go  for the ports . Food and entertainment is a big deal too. We do not drink. All this switching of ports, cancelled shows and mediocre food (the food was garbage before covid) So i cancelled my 2 for this year i am still trying to use up a $1500 carnival gift card from a cancelled cuba cruise. Once i accomplsh that i am through with Carnival. My bride says she would rather do land vacations from here on out. The big ships have too many people and the small ships have too few amenities. You go to a port for 6 hours you feel like you saw nothing. You fly to a destination for a week  you are satisfied for a life time.

Odd.  So people booked up until Jan 31 can cancel and people booked April + can cancel, but Feb and March bookings can't cancel?

It gives them more time to try to fill cancellations. I would guess. I called to cancel my august bookings after you go through the menu selections it tells you to call back tomorrow.

I've been cruising Carnival for over 40 years.  Today I asked them to refund my gift cards - over $2,000.  I know they probably won't but my family and I can't go because of their vaccine policies.  I'm not here to get into a vaccination argument.  Just wanted to express my sadness that our time sailing Carnival Cruises has passed.  We always enjoyed the cruises.  They will be missed.  Thanks for the memories Carnival.

If I don't get a response I'll have some gift cards to sell for anyone that would want them.  Thanks.

I have the same problem. I am leery about trying to sell though. Too many scammers and idiots. I tried to sell some leftover msc drink tickets when they still had those.  Even after being a member of cruise critic for years i was amazed at the morons (i guess the rum runner crowd) who responded with low ball offers. I wound up eating a lot of gelato and buying mineral water since we aren't alcohol drinkers.

I guess I'm glad people do it, but I will never understand why so many people insist on eating at the buffet for breakfast instead of the MDR. I've not eaten breakfast off the buffet in several cruises now, and I'm much happier for it.

We had a bad experience on our first cruise which was carnival in the mdr. We have eaten at the buffet on every cruise after that be it carnival, celebrity or msc.. my wife refuses to eat in the mdr  and i for the most part eat low carb so the buffet works for us.i have a small farm so i am definately not a germaphobe.

Sounds like a real cluster. Glad i saved my dough and cancelled. I got my eyes on my august cruise out of charleston. I will be glad to cancel that one too.i have to use up my gift cards sometime but i can wait until 2024. I am going to put my money on the conspiracy theory i have.

It's just a three hour drive for us to Charleston so we will head down early Thursday morning.  Last night Carnival called and made us an offer we couldn't refuse and we are now in a Cloud 9 Spa Suite!  Got our negative tests results today, yay, and I've packed my bag.  I'm ready, I'm ready, I'm ready,,,,😎

With all the cancellations i guess so. I got one too turned it down and then cancelled the next day. My wife refuses to sail right now. We will see if our august cruise out of chaleston is a go.

This! They can only spend what you authorize anyway. You can lock their cards down with spending limits. It's up to you how it gets used.

I found that not to be true. I have been called to guest services twice on a 5 day cruise to pay the grandson's bills. He was not supposed to have any spending privileges at all. 2 days in the cruise they hit me up and i told them not to let them charge anything and then we could not disembark until i paid off some more last minute charges. The boy was a minor at the time. Even my wife doesn't put anything on her card. We just use mine.

I’m not sure this low price cruise strategy is woking for Carnival. Just back Thursday from a 4 Day Sunrise sailing out of Miami.  I can only describe the experience as very “Jerry Springer”.  It was only my third Carnival cruise - my prior experience is with  NCL and RCL.  I’ve never experienced anything like this. While I enjoyed my prior two cruises on Carnival, this was that bad.  I will not be back…

Our 3 rd carnival cruise was like that too . It made us jump  to celebrity.. We came back to carnival because we had teenage grandsons going. Only reason i have another carnival booked for august. I was actually on the cheerleading squad for a bit..

Love the pizza on Carnival. Much closer to the real deal you get in Naples than most. Perhaps the only better pizza is from Alfredo's on some of the Princess ships.

I disagree. I have a house south of naples. Carnival pizza is not anything like naples or anywhere in italy for that matter. I had some on MSC that was good though. Almost like my 5'2" italian grandma's pizza. Hers was better of course.  To each their own. Somebody needs to eat carnivals pizza. It just will not be me.

I will as long as they keep sailing.  Life is full of choices, you can make yours and we will make ours, all good.  I lost 18 months, I will do my very best not to repeat that.

After 51 cruises you should be tired of it.  We got tired after 6..too many other options in life.my wife still wants to travel but not on a cruise ship.
