  1. My first gripe concerns the purchase of a 4 night dining package at $250, only to be charged $275 because of 'Spanish Tax'. I accept the tax is mandatory, but I complained to Celebrity that they have a duty to inform guests that the tax will be charged. Guests can then decide if they still want to go ahead.

I found Celebrity were not interested in accepting my point and their reply was quite patronising.

As part of this package, we chose to dine one evening in the Lawn Club Grill. Unfortunately the day we chose was the coolest day of the cruise. As mid afternoon temperatures were only 17 deg, it should have been obvious to them that dining in an outdoor venue that evening was going to be too uncomfortable. They should have cancelled and let us reschedule. We tried hard to endure the cold conditions, even returning to the cabin for jackets, but eventually had to give up and leave mid meal.

This takes me on to our next concern. I complained in writing that our money was wasted on this meal (I really felt we were due a refund). However Guest Relations only past our complaint back to the Lawn Club manager, rather than the Hotel Director. The LC manager duly defended his position ( nicely) and dismissed our complaint.

We also felt the standard of entertainment was very low.

The 3 guys on first night who made 'drumming noises etc' were mildly interesting for 10 minutes, but for a full show? No thanks

Similarly, the guy who did card tricks for 45 minutes was mind numbing.

It was also a concern that any alternative music was played in the atrium, rather than a comfortable lounge.

We also could not understand why the ship overnighted in Ibiza , not the most interesting of places.

Transfers in each port were expensive.

Lots of other moans, but these will do for starters!

Very concerning as we sail on her next month. Who was the Captain and CD-I think they are both changing. How much were port transfers?

  2. Celebrity does not deal with their onboard vendors. They gave me the email of Starboard Cruise that handles their "fine jewelry" purchases/complaints, etc.

    I have emailed them.

If I don't get a response from them, I'll just have it repaired at a local jewelers, rather than aggravating myself any more.

In the future, if I have left over OBC, I'll drink it or eat it.:D

Wow....wouldn't expect that response from Celebrity-especially since you used OBC! Buyer beware for sure! I will never purchase anything of significance on board again!!!

  3. That's not necessarily the case in all instances. I have a AUS/NZ cruise booked next February. They recently were offering the military discount, which resulted in a $2300 reduction in the fare I originally booked. Only problem, I had to give up my free gratuities and bev package to get the military discount. They told my TA that I couldn't combine. Anyway, the $448 gratuities + whatever I would consume in alcohol (we're Elite+) wouldn't come close to the $2300 reduction, so I gave them both up.

I just came across the cruise that you're referring to. Amazing pricing for military discount. We are thinking about it but would be flying from California I'm not sure with such a long flight especially since we will be doing a Europe cruise in October. Waiting to see what choice air will have in the way of fares once they are up.

  4. I am looking for suggestions for an excursion from the port of Invergorden. In port from 8 to 5 on the Prinsendam. Can you help with suggestions?

Go on TripAdvisor. We used a guy named Gavin. He's super super tall and will be in one of the top choices on TripAdvisor. We had a fantastic day. Invergorden Tours I believe.

  5. She should be back before that so yes.

You both are very lucky to have her!!!!! :D

So glad to hear this. I wish I paid more attention to the names of the captains we have traveled with. When we traveled the Mediterranean we had a wonderful captain who participated in everything and we saw him often. The last cruise we did we never even saw the captain [emoji22]

  6. As of last year B&B was on the classic list. This is a very limited list of cordials only

    Cordials

Campari, Dubonnet, Pernod, Punt e Mes, Vermouth Dry, Vermouth Sweet, Anisette, Frangelico, Kahlua,

Liquor43, Ouzo, Peppermint Schnapps, Peach Schnapps, Pama Pomegranate Liqueur, Southern Comfort,

Sloe Gin, Tia Maria, Frenet Branca, Pimms 1, Limoncello, Aperol, Lillet Blanc, Lillet Rouge, Aquavit, Alize

Gold Passion, B&B, Benedictine, Cointreau, Chambord, Galliano, Goldschlager, Godiva, Hpnotiq, Bailey's

Irish Cream, Drambuie, Sambuca, Disaronno Amaretto

    happy [hic] cruising

Thank you so much for the confirmation.

  7. Hopefully, someone on a current cruise will get back to you. Best I can tell you is that Benedictine and B&B are not on either the Classic or Premium list of cordials - the Premium list is the same as the Classic except for the addition of Grand Marnier and St. Germain.

Only thing else I can tell you is that I had rusty nails (Drambuie and scotch) recently using the Classic. So if Benedictine is available and included in one of the packages, but B&B is not then they would be able to mix it with some brandy without an additional charge.

Yes hopefully someone currently cruising will get back to me. Interesting that you mention rusty nails as a friend mentioned that I may like that drink! I guess now that we have a package, I would be able to play around a little and see what else I enjoy.

  8. I am trying to find out if a B&B (Benedictine and Brandy) would be on the classic or premium package. I had it last time we were on a Celebrity cruise but we didn't have a drink package. I can't find the answer anywhere. I even called Celebrity to ask but they said it depends on the price of the drink and that I would have to talk to the bartender when we get on board. Really?

Is there anyone who knows for sure or anyone who is currently cruising who can check on this for me?

    Thanks.......

  10. We were on a 14-night Celebrity cruise last January. On the Evening Chic nights, my husband wore his tux, and I wore an evening gown. It certainly wasn't required, but we rarely have a chance to dress like that, so for us it was fun (and a chance to see if we still fit into our wedding attire, 22 years later...). There was an eclectic mix of dining attire in the MDR and most people seemed to step it up a bit, even if just with accessories.

    Enjoy your cruise!

How many formal nights did you have? Looks like the maximum is 2, regardless of cruise length

  11. Just booked a couple of B2B Celebrity cruises for this fall. We will be traveling on land before and after the cruises, and want to travel as light as possible. We haven't cruised with Celebrity for several years and we were thrilled to find the new (to us) dress code. Wish RCCL would adopt this approach:

Q: What is the onboard dress code?A: Formal Night gets a modern luxury reboot. Say goodbye to Formal Night, and hello to Evening Chic. It’s your time to shine—your way. Get glamorous. Get chic. Be sophisticated. Now, on up to two nights on every cruise, Evening Chic activities have been introduced, and Evening Chic attire has replaced Formal attire. While dressier than Smart Casual, Evening Chic is intended to be less dressy than Formal attire.

    Women should feel comfortable wearing:

    • A cocktail dress

    • Skirt, pants or designer jeans with an elegant top

Men should feel comfortable wearing:• Pants or designer jeans with a dress shirt, button-down shirt or sweater

    • Optional sport coat or blazer

Evening Chic means that you can get glamorous and be sophisticated in your own way. If you would like to still wear a tuxedo or formal gown on Evening Chic nights, you absolutely should.

All cruises that are 7 nights or longer will feature two Evening Chic nights. Any cruise 6-nights or shorter will feature one Evening Chic night. All other nights of the cruise will feature Smart Casual attire. Celebrity Xpedition will continue to feature casual attire for the entire cruise.

Smart Casual attire can be enjoyed every other night of your cruise.

Women should feel comfortable wearing: • Skirt, pants or jeans with a casual top

    Men should feel comfortable wearing:

    • Pants or jeans with a sport shirt that has sleeves

Note: T-shirts, swimsuits, robes, bare feet, tank tops, baseball caps and pool wear are not allowed in the main restaurant or specialty restaurant at any time. Shorts and flip-flops are not allowed in the evening hours. The dress code will be enforced at all restaurants. And guests are asked to follow the Smart Casual or Evening Chic dress code in the Celebrity Theater for all evening performances. The daily program, delivered to your stateroom and available at the Guest Relations Desk, will be your guide to the correct attire each evening.

    Wahoo wahoo!

We will be on a 12 night cruise this fall. Am I to understand that there will now only be two nights that are even close to formal? I am probably one of the few who enjoys putting on a gown with my husband I a tux. Last time we did 12 nights there were three formal nights.

  12. On Silhouette there is a traditional Cafe Al Baccio on Deck 5 and a Cafe Al Baccio #2 in the Oceanview cafe. Also for just good old Lavazza coffee in the morning- if you want to avoid Oceanview Cafe- there is a coffee service (self-serve) in the Hideaway (deck 7) just off the elevators.

Is the self-serve coffee any better than what is served in Oceanview?

  13. Someone had asked what an "Igloo" was. It's like a Frappuccino from Starbucks or an Ice Cappuccino from Tim Horton's if you're Canadian. Difficult to take an Affogato back to your cabin as its a scoop of gelato served in a martini glass, with a shot of expresso coffee and drizzled with chocolate. By the time you get it back to the cabin it will have all melted. However and Igloo can easily be taken back to the cabin and enjoyed on your balcony along with a nice pastry, cookie and/or slice of cake (free at Café al Bacio regardless of whether you have a drink package or not). Perfect "stop-gap" between the end of an excursion and heading to MDR for dinner.

Geez, better diet in advance 🤣

  14. You can find wine in most every bar and restaurant on the ship. Each usually has a menu listing their wine options - and basically anything $9 and less per glass is covered on the classic package. If you look at many of the cruise reviews posted on this forum, you will see that many people have posted pictures of various menus. This will give you an idea of what is available.

And yes - you can get a drink or glass of wine and take it back to your cabin any time you want :)

    Thanks!!
