  1. Always it will depend on many factors, streaming to me means a streaming service like Netflix or Youtube. You might want to see if you can download the videos/audio ahead of time. There are extensions and plug is for Chrome and FireFox that allow all sorts of downloads. https://www.wired.com/story/10-browser-add-ons-extensions-download-videos-photos/ If it does not work for you then you might want to upgrade aboard the ship. This does not mean that site will work, if it is a free site you might want to reach out to someone that is on your ship now and have them try it. You could find them by the roll calls and see if anyone is posting or just port to the roll call. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/20-roll-calls/ I know if I was on a cruise I would be more than happy to answer ship specific questions and be able to provide a current answer.
  2. Just have someone that is back home do the check in 🙂 Much like checking in for a Southwest flight!
  3. I looked at the NCL site and they show this: Large Batteries, Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRB), ham radios, satellite phones, transformers, lasers and laser pointers are not allowed onboard. https://www.ncl.com/faq#!#what-not-bring-onboard But if you look at the full list it does not have transformers, which is good since virtually every charger is a transformer unless they mean these?
  4. One thing to note it does depend on the airline and what they paid but in my experience I could upgrade my seats for money but not points. The whole NCL is always YMMV, I have had good flights and so so flights.
  5. Try doing an Eastbound TA you keep losing an hour and your body clock is all messes up. Going West is much easier.
  6. I have taken 5 TAs and we have found that 5 days at sea is usually enough for us so I would suggest picking a different cruise. Also for a TA you want to take the cruise home so the flight back is easy!
  7. The insurance will pay you but NCL should still have their money.
  8. Does she have insurance it could be moot of course if no refund, could cancel and get some fees back, Swapping rooms is pretty common.
  9. Yes, will be faster than old NCL but judging by what I have read I am no sure if it will be faster than RCCL. But it should make the internet usable for most everything, latency should be better too but I am not sure how the system handles changing satellites.
  10. We have sailed quite a few times in the fall and always had good weather heading westward. Leaving from Rome, Barcelona and Lisbon. Look for a route that hits the Canary Islands vs the Azores.

  12. I have found that it is better and a better rate to get money at the airport from an ATM my wife has a debit card we use before that I would overpay a credit card and use that to get money without paying interest. You need to be creative at the ATM to avoid large bills ask for 100 euros and you will get a single 100 euro bill ask for 80 you could get all 20s or a 50 20 and 10. We have stayed for as long as 5 days after a cruise and never come anywhere near 500 euros spent but we do use credit cards wherever we can, make sure you have at least 2 cards that have no transaction fees.
  13. Plus the way it works for me: have a tracker no issues, no tracker bags misplaced. I had trackers on my last cruise, bags delivered to our door. The one before bags were on the other side of the ship and about 10 cabins down, no idea how they were placed there.
  14. Make sure you have a tracker in your luggage to make sure it goes where it should!
  15. But if you live in the US it is a short flight home, end in ROME you have a long flight back even if you stay for a few days. Also don't do a TA either to or from the East Coast in the fall.
  16. Just go ahead and get a lounge pass or a credit card that offers lounge access and relax, not really enough time to do much with a 1-2 time to get to the airport and get to your gate.
  17. I am ASSUMING since they booked you into the hotel and a few other people they will arrange a van or bus depending on how many people book the hotel, you may stop at another hotel too if the cruise line offers more than one hotel option. What different answers are you getting from customer service, worst case you would go back to the airport to meet the other passengers.
  18. I have taken several TAs almost all to the US since that is where we live and in the fall , we have used our balcony a lot. Also always going to Florida or further south and use our balcony all the time. Choose a cabin on the South side of the ship and just enjoy watching the ocean go by.
  19. Contact your travel agent or whomever is working your booking it could be possible since it is the same country. Don't make it difficult you will probably be transferred a few times but it is better to work your way up.
  20. By smaller I meant of those ships a 3000 passenger ship cannot usually go the same as a 2000 passenger ship. I have been twice once on a 1000 passenger ship and the other was over 2000 we were able to get further up into the bays. That is the reason to go later too, if you want to save money and go off season later is usually better. I went the end of June and in May June was a much better cruise.
  21. I would look for a smaller ship and you did not mention the dates, too early you can still have too much ice.
  22. You can upgrade once onboard as far as I know but may want to call to check for sure. The premium is just web sites not blocked not faster is my understanding.
