  1. You don't have to be paid in full. RC has not open reservations for your cruise yet. Just keep checking your Cruise Planner, there's no set time for reservations to open.

    Thanks for answering Bob!

I am really not trying to be difficult, but the reps shouldn't tell people that reservations could be made as early as 180 days out. This adds to my level of anxiety, because I would like to finish my planning. I have made many tries on my planner and I have made many calls, and get different answers. That adds to my anxiety because I don't know who's info is correct.

  2. We are in the same situation with a May5th sailing on the Harmony. I have been trying regularly since 180 days out. I was told the date to start when I booked. We are now 120 days out---still nothing. Not able to book entertainment or dining.

I have called numerous times only to be told, too early, glitch, try back we will get it fixed soon, call back, don't know what's wrong, etc.

Not really sure what to do next. We have cruised Oasis twice and have always been able to make plans by now. Frustrated.

  3. As others have said, it is a great way to try new things. We are pretty adventurous eaters but occasionally we see something on the menu we would like to try. We have asked and received a smaller portion to taste. We have even had a waiter bring us a sampler "platter" of each of the appetizers, because we couldn't choose. When the waiter discovered my husband loved scallops he brought out another serving.

We have always found that the staff is eager to make us happy and comfortable. We feel pampered. That is one of the things we enjoy in cruising.

  4. I think at one time you could get a bowl of pretzels in the Crown and Anchor lounge on the Oasis.

My husband and I were on the Splendour and we noticed the Asian passengers would take a crazy amount of citrus fruit every morning at breakfast. We wondered if it is a hard to get item in those countries and maybe they wanted to get plenty to enjoy. Funny what you see while traveling in Europe compared to the Caribbean cruises we have been on.

  5. Just returned from 2 weeks on Splendour. She may not have all of the glitz and glamour of the big new ships but she is still beautiful and everyone seemed to be having a great time.

We've been on Allure twice and really liked her. However, going on the "smaller" Splendour once again allowed us to experience a crew that had the ability to get to know the passengers and interact with them on a more personal level than is possible when you have 5000 passengers.

Couldn't agree more. We sailed on her in Sept. as a part of a 2 week stay in Italy. We have been on the Oasis several times and enjoyed her. However, we loved the Splendour for her crew and the ports of call. The ship is beautiful and the crew was very attentive, and they knew us by name and the wine we had at dinner. We will miss her.

We too just returned from a dream vacation to Italy, which included a cruise on the Splendour. We too have been on one of the "big girls". We loved the intimate nature of the smaller ship. The staff was very present and just awesome. Now that she will be gone we are very sad that another trip on her is not a reality. We will still have wonderful memories.

  7. Get to a Physical Therapist, one specializing in vertigo. There are special treatments that can be done to help with it.

I copy this. Our son is a PT and he knows of several. I have had many bouts with vertigo. I have always been given a prescription of Antivert. It really helps with the nausea, but the vertigo has to run its course.

    Good luck to you!

  8. We were just there last week. We went to Ephesus including the Terrace Houses, Basilica of St John and Virgin Mary House. We are Catholic and wanted to see the Christian sites.

Forgive me for going a little off topic but, we have a friend who is catholic and would love to have a keepsake from Virgin Mary House. I read somewhere that you can get water from a fountain there. Do you know if this is true? Do you need to bring a bottle to collect?

    Thank you

  9. We were in 8520 earlier this year and did find there was some noise from above but to be honest it was not enough to bother us. Cabin was nice with enough space (and we used sofa bed as there are three of us). Have a lovely time

Good news! We won't be bothered by small noises. Plus we will be so worn out by the activities of touring, I'm sure we will sleep like rocks.

    Thank you!

  10. My husband was worried at first. The media hype in the US is over the top. After we settled down and read some of the posts here, we decided to go and enjoy.

I have always been the type to not worry about safety when on a cruise, thinking the cruise lines would not take us to dangerous ports. Now, with shootings in churches and theaters in the US we can see that something bad could happen to us at home. We are going!

  11. If you really want to do these two sites, I'd bite the bullet and do the ship's excursion. We usually limited our shore excursions to $100 pp.

When we went to the Med in 2008, I had planned to take the train from Katakolon to Olympia independently. We arrived in Katakolon and walked to the train station only to find out the train was broken down, so no transport available to Olympia.

We went back to the pier, but of course all the taxi's were gone, so we just shopped in town then went back to the ship for lunch.

Disappointed that we missed seeing Olympia. Only you know how disappointed you would be to miss it.

I think you make some good points. We have managed to arrange excursions on our own for the other ports and save some money in the process. We have decided to go for the ships excursion.

    Thank you for your insight.
