  1. Seating in The Dock is also very less than optimal. There are bar stools, weird chairs that are essentially on the floor, and a very few chairs that older people, people with mobility issues, etc. can even get out of. Again, if he is in his own device, he will be fine, but you may not find seating that works for you. We left a couple times due to no appropriate seating.
  2. Will it happen this time? I think we've been hearing this for about 18 months, but it sounds like they are closer.
  3. Oh my.....we have had very little success in dealing with my daughter's mobility issues and VV. I was hoping things would get better since they hired the new guy (after treating him like dirt on a cruise) as disability director. Red room--on the upper level there is wheelchair seating, relatively limited numbers. On the lower level the venue fills quickly and there is no reserved seating on the lower level for those who can't climb stairs, I don't remember wheelchair seating on the lower level, but it has been a while.... Dance party thing is totally standing. I took one look and decided to not try it. All eating venues are accessible and even those with quirky seats have places where wheelchair transfers are easy, or obviously you can choose to stay in your device. Manor--there is seating on the main floor, but get there early as things do fill up. The stuff on the pool deck is generally stand up. Obviously there are places to sit but depending on your physical abilities, it can be awfully hard to get up from some of those seats. Again, plenty of chair/scooter space. Elevators are big and we didn't have the issues of elevator hogs or racers that we've encountered on other lines, maybe because this is adult only. The fully accessible cabins are great. Despite anything you may have read on line, the beds do separate, but in the usual twin configuration that you'll see on other lines, not the L that standard VV cabins do, There is no auto open button on either the cabin or bathroom door, which can be a problem for some. Odd, since my favorite 25 year old cruise ship has an automatic door open device and VV in general is so high tech. Wheelchair assist with embarkation and disembarkation has been nothing short of a disaster on each of our cruises IF you need someone to push the chair. If you are self propelled in your own chair or scooter, you are good to go. I sent a lengthy snail mail about the issues we encountered. 4 months later, I got an email that had a photo of the web page. Gee, thanks. I do understand the difference between ship crew and terminal crew; please no comments about this. I know where and why the problem is, but we've cruised at least 3 other lines with NO difficulties. We have encountered difficulties at both Barcelona and Miami with Miami being the worst. We have one cruise booked in 2024, and if the same issues persist, it will likely be our last VV for a long while. That's sad, because there are a lot of good things about the line. Depending on your wheelchair needs, you might look into purchasing one at thrift stores or even borrowing one from a local church (they often get donations when people no longer need them). They fly free, and purchasing one can be cheaper than renting for the cruise. Obviously, this works for transfer chairs only; someone who needs a chair all the time would want a custom fitted and designed one, If you have any specific questions, please post and I'll share our experiences. Sorry, no experience with scooters on board...stuck to wheelchair and rollator, You will need a fully accessible cabin for a scooter as, unlike some other lines, there are no scooter charge areas outside of the cabins for people who only use rented devices for long walking issues. The "ambulatory accessible" cabins will not meet your needs--they basically have shower and bathroom bars added and are for people who can get around on there own but just need grab bars.
  4. DJs--no idea. Festival Entertainers can have contracts for one sailing, a few weeks, or a month. THey change quite regularly. And they may do 2 or 3 sailings, have a break for weeks or months, and come back again.
  5. Probably the same way they do the Moet--not at all. The bar will likely quit serving at 6, but whatever you have on your table before that is yours....even if it is several "extras."
  6. It is a charge against your bar tab. If you had $100 on your bar tab and ordered bottomless brunch, you will now have $75 of bar tab left. It is only a charge to loot (first) or credit card (last) if you have no bar tab left.
  7. Days may change, but not usually events. Events change very rarely from year to year! Yes, there have been some shows and events dropped and more added, but overall not much difference.
  8. Strong dislike for the new RD menu. Our top 2 favorites were removed. Yes. the desserts are better, but the rest of the evening menu needs "secret" help. Breakfast is good though.
  9. I just checked 3 random sailings and all had lock it in rates. You don't see these till you go to the "select cabin" part of the web site. They typically show up on most VV sailings. I think the terms are the same as most other VV bookings except that you can't apply MNVV to them and they normally don't include the perks of other bookings. That's why you need to price it both ways--it can sometimes be less cash to book with MNVV in a Sea Terrace than regular price in a Lock It In and the perks are extras,,.but you need to check each sailing you are interested in. Do double check the policy with a Gold Tier travel agent to be sure.
  10. We walk the stations to see what the specials are, then decide what we want. Most specials are at lunch, but there is a nightly dinner special and occasional breakfast specials.
  11. Sorry....but at least you got something worked out at this point.
  12. You are aware that many special offers are not included in the Lock it in rates? For example, you cannot apply an MNVV certificate to these. Depending on the goodies you have available to reduce your costs, it can be better to book a Sea Terrace rather than a lock it in; you need to evaluate each offer separately. Since you are in the UK, things may be different than they are for me.
  13. Technically, I guess you are not losing DBE...but if it ends when it is currently scheduled, it will likely be replaced by the program that VV has supposedly been developing for the last few years. The perks that VV gives thru agents are sporadic, some are based on the time you book (it agent has done a recent Zoom thing for guests with VV sales dept), and sometimes based on how many bookings they have on any given cruise. And what you get varies. That's not a thing to book for, but is a nice little extra. I suppose you could move to a 2024 sailing, but most of the prices have increased. Ask yourself which of the DBE perks you actually use and what they would cost to buy, then decide if it is worth changing your dates.
  14. Sorry--they called it Full English and it was very like the thing that was called Full English during our most recent stay in London (which we loved!)
  15. I stared at BDE for ages before realizing that was Deep Blue Extras. I thought that was valid thru 2024....have they extended it thru 2025? Hard to keep up as VV has extended it at least 4 times already. 1-transfer your reservation to a gold tier agent. They can help you with all the crap that VV might pull between now and boarding the ship and might even wind up adding a perk (depends on how many bookings they have on a given cruise, etc which can change given how far out you are)
  16. Ditto to never needing to buy a tab. THanks for the update!
  17. Custom made omelets are available...selection of cereals, fruits, to go boxes of fruit and yogurt, full English breakfast, and many more options. Sometimes it is a matter of figuring out where things are being served, but they are all there.
  18. Exactly as above--if you purchase a $300 bar tab, there is a bonus added. If you purchase $100, normally there is no bonus. SO, if that's all the bar tab you want, don't buy it. Once purchased, a bar tab is a "use it or lose it." If you travel without a bar tab, any drinks you buy will be charged to loot first (if you have any) and then to your "folio" which becomes a credit card charge when the cruise ends. THe advantage is that you'll be charged exactly what you spend (and remember that on VV, the posted drink price already includes the gratuity). If you buy a $100 tab and only drink $90, you are still paying the $100.
  19. This was likely the week that Carlos was sick....at least that's my guess.
  20. Celebrity has made a celebrity of her and is benefitting from their marketing campaign. Nothing wrong with that. VV does the same with Richard, and as far as I can see, he doesn't perform a real job on the ship.
  21. Not sure what you mean by "don't participate." No one will even know if you don't show up and opt for bed instead. Many people show up in shorts and t-shirts. Like most things on VV, there is no "out of place."
  22. But they don't have Rover, the ship's dog, on Symphony.
  23. I would seriously recommend using a Gold Tier agent to book thru VV. These people have completed VV training to the top level and have cruised on the ship(s). Even if you are an experienced cruiser, they are there to advise you, use their portal to book things when the app dies, and provide a million other little services. In addition, there are some perks that are only available thru them. These vary, but I've gotten a discount for booking after they have held a zoom conference with VV (you can, but don't have to watch the zoom), and various "goodies" when they have 10 cabins booked on the same cruise--loot, a bottle of bubbly, or whatever the current deal is. They will also be up to date on the current sales, any cruises that are better values than others if your dates are flexible, and sometimes have a little advance notice or when the next sale is coming out and what it might be. We aren't allowed to name agents or agencies here, but they are easy to find on other sites. Tootles.....
  24. You can purchase alcohol or specialty drinks thru room service till 2am.
  25. It is listed each day in the paper program that you can get at the big red desk, sailor services, or either Grounds club locations--either glance at it to see the special or take one with you. The server will be happy to bring it to you. I thought the location for the special was part of the diner.
