I believe he is being truthful. My table mates on a recent cruise were on their 2nd free cruise (from the casino) and had a 3rd booked a couple of months later. They really didn't gamble excessively, but definitely more than me.:( No free cruise, ever, for me.

I would definitely take the new ship with the lower price, especially since you enjoy that cruise line. The Sunshine is nice, but I'll never be able to think of her as anything but the Destiny. I know the redo was nice, but I guess I'm not good with change. LOL

You can actually buy a waterproof, reusable, digital camera from Walmart for $44. If you cruise a lot, this would be a much better buy. Just thought I'd let you know about it.:D

Sometimes, Carnival will call you with an offer. Usually it's when the price of your current room has dropped and it won't cost much more for a higher category. Other times, people check rates daily or weekly, and when they see the price has dropped, they ask for on board credit or an upgrade to a room in a higher category. Rarely (but it does happen) people are moved to a higher category at no cost. I was lucky enough to have that happen to me. I'd booked an inside cabin, but when I got to the port, they had moved me to a Jr. Suite. I've never figured out why that happened, but I certainly enjoyed the room.

You can buy them at Walmart for $14.27 (made by Kodak)

Would this be a Jones act Violation and would the passenger pay the 300 or would CCL?
Yes, I needed more information since the Splendor's first port isn't always Port Canaveral. But, the answer to your question is Carnival will pay the fee.

You might as well flip a coin. The ship never seems to dock on the same side. Sometimes they dock head first, sometimes they back in. Just go and enjoy yourself. I'm sure you'll enjoy the view, regardless of which side you are on.

Great attitude and I'm delighted you had a great cruise. Yes, people leaving certainly gave you a less crowded ship. Glad you could enjoy it. Thanks for posting.:D

Without a doubt, I'd pick the Victory. I LOVE Half Moon Cay and I'm sure your children will too. Either way, I hope you have a fabulous cruise.:D

Well, my cruise was November 10th, and I still don't have it. I'll call for sure
-
They were out of platinum gifts when I was on the cruise in November...they told me that they were mailing mine...I filled out the form...and wrote on there for the Tervis Tumbler if possible.....and it took a couple of months but I did receive mine in the mail.:)
Great. It was November for me as well. Perhaps I should call again. It's been over 4 months.:(

I really am sorry about your disappointing cruise. Unfortunately, the contract you accept when booking clearly states that Carnival can change or remove ports as necessary. I know Nassau is nowhere near as nice as Cozumel so I would have been sad about that as well. Over the years, I have been on many, many cruises where ports were changed (or deleted) after we were on the cruise. I have never received compensation, except for port fees when we missed the port entirely. I hope your next cruise is much better and you have a fabulous time.:D

Has anyone been told the ship was out of Platinum gifts and they would be mailing it? They had me fill out a form back in November and said the gift would be mailed. It is now the end of March and still no gift. I called Carnival and they said the 'shipment' had been delayed and I should receive it in a few weeks. Any others had this happen?

That's great news!:D I'm seen a few people post it was cheaper to stay with the way they booked originally. I"m so glad it gave you credit.
Anyone else???

It's been many years since I sailed out of Seattle, but it was Pier 91 when I did.
I forgot to mention, we had gotten conflicting reports before we flew out there, but the minute we told the cab driver what ship we were sailing on, he drove us right there. Very easy.
-
Do you get a huge savings booking same day the ship sails out?
It really depends on the ship, etc. On our Ecstasy cruise, we rode the shuttle with a mother and daughter who booked the night before, drove all night from Kentucky, and parked in the same remote lot as we did. They paid $139 per person and had no idea where their cabin would be. At that price, I wouldn't care either.
