  1. Staying in Fort Lauderdale for one day, usually we like living dangerously and fly in day of cruise but I’m not taking any chances this time. Should be at hotel by 11:00 and since I can’t check in until 3:00, I plan on securing my luggage at hotel and just hang out at the pool. Publix and Total Wine are within walking distance so even though I purchased the deluxe beverage package, still plan on bringing a bottle onboard to enjoy on the balcony. I’ll probably pick up something to eat at Publix unless there’s a restaurant close by.  The hotel does have an evening reception with appetizers so depending on the time, I might stop in for something. I know I won’t sleep well tonight so tomorrow will be an early night for me.

  2. Hi all, this is my first live review so hopefully it’ll go well with posting pictures and just being able to get decent WIFI connection on ship. This cruise is overdue by more than two years thanks to…well you know. I was supposed to do first solo cruise back in March 2020 with hubby’s blessing but well…you know. I did end up posting a virtual cruise review because I was sad, bored and mostly housebound for three months.  The review caught the eye of a reporter and somehow I ended up being interviewed and my picture and part of post was featured in Washington Post, I believe @twangsterwas also interviewed. Now on to the real cruise and since hubs started a new project at work, I’m actually going solo. I did ask a couple of friends and mostly got horrified looks and comments like “no way am I going on a floating Petri dish” and “is everything ok with you two since you’re going alone?”  I’m actually happy since I don’t have to deal with any negativity and can come and go as I please and between you and me, looking forward to 7 snore-free nights! I’m on private Facebook group for people traveling this cruise and have already “met” lots of nice people that I’ll be meeting Sunday at Meet and Mingle.  I consider myself an awkward introvert so this will be interesting, any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I haven’t signed up for any specialty dining but hoping to go to Izumi sometime this week. This will be third time on Allure and eighth RCL cruise so I’m completely comfortable traveling solo.
Tested negative today so biggest hurdle complete, sure was stressful waiting for results! Here’s some pics of who and what I’m leaving behind, our three gingers Walter, Norman and Kevin, our grand puppy Leia who is staying with us for several days and Elbo, my waiter on the virtual cruise 😄. Also included pic of Washington Post cover, my 15 minutes’ claim to fame.

Got an early flight from Detroit Metro to Fort Lauderdale, only time I don’t mind waking up at 4:00 am.

  3. I’ll be cruising week of May 7th and signed up for cabin hop, there’s supposed to be 30 people. I think I’ll cancel and let them know, the thought of being in a cabin with a crowd doesn’t sound safe at this time . Also, if someone does test positive then I’ll probably have to get tested due to contact tracing. I just got my second booster Monday due to my asthma and will be wearing mask at airport, on plane and most areas of ship.

  4. Wow, looks like you had the pool all to yourselves!  That’s going to be my plan for Costa Maya day as well.  The avocado margarita sounds interesting, I’ll definitely be trying that and I love their spicy margarita so that’s on my list too.  Central Park is also my favorite part of the ship in the evening, was there any entertainment? Love sitting there and listening to the music. Enjoy the rest of your cruise!

That testing is not available for anyone else but the kids/unvax.

According to RLC website testing is available for vaccinated passengers only of all other options have failed so yes, you can test at terminal for $99, test results take 90 minutes.

  6. You’ve got style, loving your outfits and glasses. Glad the ship doesn’t feel crowded and looking forward to your Izumi review. I bought the 2 restaurant dining package, one has to be Chops (which I love) and hoping to try Izumi for the first time. Should be interesting as I’ll be pushing my comfort level and will be dining by myself as this will be my first solo cruise.

  7. Wow the food looks delicious, I’m still trying to decide if I want the UDP. Great idea doing the safety video on the way to the terminal, I’ll plan on it just to get it out of the way. Does Allure still have the Champagne Bar and if so, can you take picture of drink menu sometime this week? Thanks for the entertainment picture!
