  1. Do you use vacuum/ziploc bags to optimize suitcase space? We do this on longer trips since Royal and laundry don't do so well together. Amazing how much air you don't have to pack if you use this trick.
  2. I'm sure there are, but none that interest us. I enjoy watching the ocean go by as we're cruising, not having to worry about what we're going to eat, what we're going to do or anything else. What we called vacations growing up were usually anything but and this is how we've chosen to spend our second childhood(s) without adult supervision.
  3. We're not really that big on meeting people 🙂 and we probably DID see each other as there weren't THAT many people on board and it's a small ship. TOO small for DW to want to go again. I ENJOYED the "old school" ship more than the newer ones with all the bells and whistles, but it was her call. First time in a long taking less than 7 day trip. Usually on Freedom class, and wanted to try smaller ship. Planning to go on Allure next May to finally try a big ship. Hoping service out of Galveston continues to expand as I HATE flying.
  4. We were on Grandeur May 8th-13th and while it wasn't spectacular, it certainly wasn't horrible. "Hope for the best, expect the worst" - it's ALL about setting your expectations. We had no major disappointments. Had been on Indy back in October (to CoCo Cay) and was like a ghost ship most of the time. Not sure what percentage, but definitely "light". ANY day cruising beats the heck out of a day sitting around the apartment wishing we were cruising. I DID cancel our September booking for Grandeur (4 nights) and will wait until January for 10 nights on Radiance (to Panama/Colombia). HOPEFULLY, by then the "issues" we're seeing will be resolved or more nearly so.
  5. Saved $318 on one, nothing on the other. Took less than 10 minutes on the phone. Thanks for the heads up. Website still not working 😞
  6. Which is why I'm trying to check my two bookings and can't get past the "blank" page on either on 2 computers and all 3 (chrome, edge, ie) browsers. 😞
  7. Did ANYONE get pictures of the damage to the ship and mooring post it hit? The videos are great, but pics of the aftermath would be even better.
  8. We've been twice in June/July and seems at least once getting up to nearly 80 (in the sun and no wind) and as low as the 40's (Cloudy and windy) when we were visiting glaciers. Remember, when the ship's underway it's making its own 20-25 mph "wind" if you're outside and wind chill applies. Dress in layers then you can add/shed as required.
  9. Well, getting there early definitely makes for a less aggravating morning. 🙂
  10. I'd never noticed them before, but last week there were nearly 50 B2B guests in the pen ahead of us. We've been getting there early (drive down the night before) and have been able to walk right in as soon as they were ready to start checking people in even WITHOUT the Key.
  11. We were on Grandeur the week before (9th-13th) and noticed the same HORRIBLE problems with the App. Between the spotty WiFi connectivity all over the ship and the constant shuffling/appearance/disappearance of activities I was ready to grab the paper Compass and a highlighter and do it old school.
  12. All Cruise Ships Great and Small, Royal Caribbean has them all 🙂 🙂 🙂
  13. I've put this in our Cruise Planner for both our cruises visiting Panama, both of which were cancelled 😞 Still waiting to decide about our third attempt at visiting Panama next January. Talked to friends about this one and all share much the same experience as @kccrzr They all recommend visiting one of the landside places (one's a hotel observation deck) that lets you see LOTS of the canal and lock activity. Another is a "guided tour/narration" that was much more informational than a boat ride. Nothing in our CP yet for next year, but I'll be looking closely at options besides the Ferry this time. We're on Radiance and there's nothing in CP yet since this is a brand new itinerary.
  14. We were on Grandeur in Cozumel last week and crew was ECSTATIC that they could get off the ship for the first time in SEVEN MONTHS 🙂
  15. Was on last week, and it was fair to poor 😞 Not so much the internet, but the WiFi was REALLY spotty making the app almost useless most of the time. I was only able to stream sitting on deck 6 and then not great. Surfing was OK in the "core" of the ship, but pretty bad around the edges, virtually zero in a deck 7 cabin midship. Was bundled in the Key (never again) so didn't hassle with trying to get a refund. I did use the PC in the Internet Cafe one morning and it was on a wired connection instead of WiFi so much better.
  16. Got off a 4 night yesterday. OLD ship, showing her wear and tear, but a fun trip none the less. Not a lot of bells and whistles, but LOTS of places to sit and watch the waves rolling by. The Egg Drop Contest was quite fun to watch. Nice to be able to get from one end of the ship to the other in no time at all. Not sure what capacity we were at, but only encountered a full elevator once or twice. Voom isn't worth the money unless you REALLY have to have it. Streaming was virtually non-existent. Surf was OK at best in a few spots, dead most places. Even the Royal app's dependence on WiFi made it more a pain than a help. Thank goodness they still provide paper Compass. If creaking noises bother your sleep, I'd recommend earplugs 🙂 If you have anything specific, ask and I'll try to answer.
  17. Didn't read the ENTIRE thread, but so sorry you had to go through it, BUT it DOES seem you made the most of it and maybe even had a little fun sharing with us. We were on Grandeur this week and I LOVED getting to see Allure alongside at Cozumel. Hope you both recover and have no long term side effects.
