  1. The general consensus among cruisers is to do Vasa first. Vasa is unique (more or less) and while Gamla stan is nice too (except for all tourist trap stores) its not unique in the same way. Do Vasa first and then Gamla Stan.
  2. Depending on how fast you want to get Vasa , m/s Emelie I & II harbor ferries are the easiest way to get from Stadsgården S167 to Vasa. They depart from Masthamnen quay at Stadsgården (se map link below). Current schedule only goes to 23 August, dont know how much changes there are though. I would recommend you get in touch with Ressel which owns and operates these ferries. https://ressel.se/en/emelie-traffic/ https://maps.app.goo.gl/VQYcCioJ25XVPPgCA From Vasa to Gamla Stan use the other harbor ferries (line 82) from Allmänna Gränd to Gamla stan quay. Use sl website to find departure times (usually very frequent) https://sl.se/en/in-english/getting-around/ For the final leg use bus #53 from Mälartorget (Gamla stan) towards Henriksdalsberget/Finnberget. Get off at Londonviadukten. Also its quite far to walk from Gamla stan back to the ship. also the construction works at and around Slussen area might also confuse things for a tourist.
  3. I agree, stay in Copenhagen if you haven't been there before- However if you have been in Cph before and want to cross the bridge, a trip to Ystad might be of interest? Takes 90 minutes and costs 199 SEK (one way)..
  4. From S167 it's over 3km to the Royal Palace. If no shuttles I would use public transport to get around. Emelie harbour ferries from Ressel rederi stops at S167 and would provide a good way to hop over to Djurgården. https://ressel.se/emelie-trafiken/
  5. You'll be at Frihamnen. Never used uber as I on the few occasions I use a taxi uses real taxi companies. One way of getting there is public bus, but require a few hundred meters of walking.
  6. Yours is outdated. This is the current one: https://mitt.sl.se/ficktid/sommar/S82.pdf Basically mon-fri: every 20 minutes from 07.20, then every 10 minutes until 19.00, then every 15 minutes until 23.00, then every 20 minutes until the last one at midnight. Saturdays, every 15 minutes between 09.00 and 10.00, then every 10 minutes till 23.00 Sundays are similar, but every 15 minute schedule starts earlier in the evening.
  7. Stockholms gästabud is located at Österlånggatan in Old Town and it seems to have very good reviews.
  8. Yes, the central has plenty of storage lockers. Are you going home the same day or staying over night? If the latter most hotels will allow you to store their luggage at them before check in.
  9. Could be a heat wave with sun and +30 C or it could just as well be +10 C and rain or anything in-between.
  10. Yes, you have to remember that in the summer earth's northern areas are leaning towards the sun making the sunlight extra strong. Then you have to take the sunlight reflections from the water into account and add that to the equation as well. So yes, sunscreen is a must if you intend the stay in the sun more then a few minutes.
  11. You can check this link for security check waiting times (seems to be real time update). https://www.swedavia.se/arlanda/sakerhetskontroll/ Right now longest waiting time is 8 minutes a Terminal 5D.
  12. Bus will be closest. Use Bus 76 and you won't have to change. And yes buses run less frequent on Saturdays, Sundays and other red days, https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Nytorgsgatan,+116+22+Stockholm/Slottsbacken/@59.3201965,18.0662633,15z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m18!4m17!1m5!1m1!1s0x465f77f9991f2257:0xc7f3466f4c53ea23!2m2!1d18.0806675!2d59.3152032!1m5!1m1!1s0x465f9d580fab837b:0xb20c53e393dfe2ce!2m2!1d18.075233!2d59.326004!2m3!6e0!7e2!8j1682326800!3e3 You can walk /about 20 minutes), down hill from hotel to Slussen, but then slightly uphill towards the palace.
  13. The government building is Rosenbad which is located on Norrmalam. You are not allowed to visit Rosenbad. The parliament (Riksdagen) is located on Helgeandsholmen which is a small island situated between Norrmalm and Stadsholmen (Old Town). The parliament is open for visitors but only via a guided tour. Guided tours are held Monday-Friday during the summer (july- mid September), but only at 12.00 and 13.30. The rest of the year guided tours are held on Saturdays and Sundays at 12.00 and 13.30 The City hall is located on Kungsholmen and houses both the city parliament (kommunfullmäktige) and city government (kommunstyrelsen).
  14. Nobel prize dinner. CIty hall tour requires you to buy tickets on the same day: https://stadshuset.stockholm/en/visit-stockholm-city-hall/guided-tours/
  15. HoHo boats doesn't go to Frihamnen, Also HoHo boats (and buses) doesn't use a direct route but rather a multi point stops clockwise from Vasa so they are a quite slow way to get around. From Djurgården/Vasa there is also harbour ferries (public transport) that departs from Allmänna gränd. https://www.google.se/maps/dir/59.3286049,18.0921955/Allmänna+gränd/@59.3284197,18.0927239,171m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m9!4m8!1m0!1m5!1m1!1s0x465f9d5547c2528b:0x30c914a4f5a65e1d!2m2!1d18.0946181!2d59.324081!3e2
  16. Vasa museum website have dedicated language versions of their website for some language and those are not auto-translated.
  17. The two biggest risk as I see it are the cruise ship arrival into Stockholm due to unfavourable weather conditions. The sail into Stockholm from the open sea takes about 5-6 hours. Due to the fairway/route being very narrow/tight on many places it has lots of restrictions for conditions with poor visibility and/or strong winds. The other risk is long queues/delays at the security check. It was really bad last summer. but it might have been improved now.
  18. I'll try to give you some answers. It's way too far to walk to the museum from the pier. What you can do is travel by bus since bus #76 goes by Frihamnen. It won't pass the museum but you can get off at Djugårdsbron stop and walk a few hundred meters across the bridge to the museum (there are signs to show you the proper direction). The bus stop is on the right and the bridge you have to cross is on the left. The Vasa museum is to the right of the big building with small towers (which is another museum). https://www.google.com/maps/@59.3318634,18.0931717,3a,90y,209.24h,89.01t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1suJRHDD2RTjo6HItzgESUug!2e0!7i16384!8i8192 Ticket info for public transport: https://sl.se/en/in-english/fares--tickets/ Other things to do is to walk around Old Town and visit the Royal Palace- Lot's of other museums at Djurgården (like Nordiska museet which is next door to Vasa). So if you are into museums, you could spend one day at Djurgården and the other day at Old Town + Royal Palace. There are also walking tours in Old Town, both Stockholm Ghostwalk and Christopher O' Reagan. Both of these are usually very popular so book well in advance if you are interested.
  19. Some restrictions yes: https://thenorwayguide.com/there-could-be-a-stop-to-popular-fjord-cruises-in-2026/ https://ferryshippingnews.com/norways-bold-environmental-decisions-catalyst-for-change/ I assume Norwegian posters can provide some more details.
  20. IIRC for some of the commuter trains stations subway and some harbour ferries you can blip your card at the gates (spärrar/automatic barrier). However this only work for VISA, MasterCard and American Express https://sl.se/en/in-english/fares--tickets/
  21. This is from last year and it looks like one queue for groups and one for non groups. There is more then one ticket sales line though so I would assume that the single line splits into several close to the entrance. https://www.google.com/maps/@59.3287663,18.0926294,3a,20.3y,258.17h,87.57t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sooukNhc2uT4x6wu3Nh1wyA!2e0!7i16384!8i8192 I also think that going with Emelie harbour ferries might be faster then hoho boats (depending on if you can time Emelie's departure). It will require walking about 600 meters once a shore though. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Allmänna+gränd,+115+21+Stockholm/59.3285674,18.0921917/@59.3263304,18.09401,789m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m9!4m8!1m5!1m1!1s0x465f9d5547c2528b:0x30c914a4f5a65e1d!2m2!1d18.0946181!2d59.324081!1m0!3e2 HoHo boats will drop you off just north west of S:t Erik (icebreaker) so you will re-gain some time there compared to Emelie.
  22. M/s Emelie I and II are harbour ferries on the route Hammarby Sjöstad - Stadsgården - Djurgården (Allmänna gränd) - Nybroplan. https://ressel.se/emelie-trafiken-tidtabeller/ Personally I do not recommend the HoHo buses because they don't use direct routes and you also won't see much from a bus window.
  23. Probably not. However this is Scandinavia so it can be anything from +12 C and rain to +25-30 C and sun. Impossible to say until at the best a few weeks before.
  24. Actually for Stockholm only the absolute largest ships have some difficulties getting all the way in but even ships like Regal Princess, Britannica, Norwegian Breakaway are cleared to go into Stockholm, but for some reason the cruise lines operating them decides not to for most of the cases and when they do they leave much earlier then other cruise ships.
  25. A small correction. CET and EET are normal time. In the summer half of the year clocks go forward and CET time zones switches to CEST and EET switches to EEST.
