  1. We've been rerouted from Bermuda. Just when I thought we were in the clear from the tropical systems. We’ve been closely monitoring the development of inclement weather systems along with our Chief Meteorologist, Craig Setzer, for our September 30th, 2023 Liberty of the Seas sailing. The storm’s path makes it hard to provide you with a safe and comfortable journey to Bermuda. So, after exploring all of our options, we’ve decided to sail to Saint John, New Brunswick instead. Please see our updated itinerary and some details about our sailing below.
  2. I know from watching Jordan Bauth's videos that crew members sign up to work Voom to get internet access minutes. What you get is quite probably not an actual IT person.
  3. Was curious about where the status was of the actual marine traffic and found that site. Most of the stuff that makes the regular news sites is just about the bay bridge and CBT with car/ truck traffic.
  4. https://homeport.uscg.mil/port-directory/virginia It only matters what the captain of the port says not what they actually do on the bridges themselves with cars. Right now seems like the bay is closed.
  5. The thing about the Chesapeake and bad weather is the closure of the channels over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. With the storm projected to hit it they will surely close the channels and thus access in and out of the Bay. I remember in the past a cruise has left and had to anchor in the bay until things opened up a couple days later.
  6. The bigger question is what will security say this time about all that coffee and paraphernalia! You've certainly improved your process.
  7. We rented a car in Port Canaveral with a car seat and drove to the zoo. In Nassau we usually take the bus.
  8. Your vouchers should still work at the coffee shop if you haven't gotten off yet
  9. We bring every medicine we have and things we need when the little one might be sick. Snot sucker, thermometer, Bluetooth otoscope, nail trimmers,/buffers. Lots of diapers and wipes with extras. Bring some favorite toys and books but not many. Also their blanket or sheet and stuffy. Bring some of their favorite snacks along with drink and snack cups and kids sized utensils. Ziploc bags are also huge. Battery operated nightlight, sound machine are also good if they're used to those. Sleeping wise at that age I would not count on finding a crib/ pack and play big enough for them so you'll need to make alternate plans. We have brought our own full size pack and play in the past and also tried our best to build a safety barrier around a sofa bed. They will have an absolute blast running around the room and my kids were both overly fascinated with trying to get into the bathroom so watch out for those doors. Plenty of things to do on the Freedom and you will probably see the other parents pretty quickly at the early hours. Early stroller walks are great and the Cafe opens up pretty early. The water play area is more than enough for them and my kids loved the little pool chairs they have. Also outdoor kids movies were a hit. The crew are always great with the kids. The AO/RBT staff is awesome too. You'll hear a lot from crew members missing their loved ones back home. Plenty of things to do in the Bahamas. We've taken the local bus to the zoo in Nassau a couple times then eaten at the fry and also hit Junkanoo Beach. Last visit there was a day pass at the British colonial that gave us some nice easy beach time they loved. Cococay the zero entry pool, kids Waterpark and the pirate ship are favorites.
  10. We went there when DW had a business trip and it really is a great city. You are not kidding about all of the breweries. We're on the 9/30 Bermuda sailing so we're following along on your alternate journey.
  11. The area is small but it's enough to entertain the little ones. It will also keep them contained that way they can have some freedom of movement. There are some really cute little kid deck chairs by there too that my kids loved. All of the water is open to them on Cococay in a diaper including the zero entry pool, mini free water park, and pirate ship plenty of beaches in nassau for them to swim at too. Also the zoo.
  12. The pack n play they give you is half the width of the regular ones. Depending on how big your DS is he might not even fit in it. When our DS was about that age he didn't really fit into it so we had to cocoon him on the sofa. Luckily we had a room with a pull out one. We have always done the shower curtain from the ceiling thing and it has been fine. You get a little bit of room to walk by but you need to be very careful to not hit the pack and play. You'd also be able to just keep the royal king configuration and he can sleep between you in the bed. Would advise trying to bid up to a higher level room.
  13. If you're ever by (or in) Key West you'll often see both our current navy fighters practicing but also a lot of custom painted OPFOR planes that are the enemy. Had to do a lot of looking online to try figuring out what they were. Doesn't tipping a wing on a fly by mean something?
  14. We bought magnetic black boards and stuck them to the front of our fridge using the command strips. The kiddos asked why we couldn't hang their art on our fridge like Bluey does.
  15. The liberty panoramic oceanview sofa bed was a trundle type. We brought inflatable bumpers and our 18 month old didn't fall out. They are indeed low to the floor. They remove the sofa cushions so you could always use those in a pinch?
  16. Having taken our 1 yo on it last month I can confirm there is a bit of the splashaway water park that is for those in swim diapers. It has a side by side waterslide and a couple of water spray features. Adventure had a slightly different set up but was a similar size. Enchantment did have a splash spray feature at the front of the pool deck but don't think Vision has that. .
  17. They will also typically allow you to book a limited number of spots on the first day or two but then you can book more later in the cruise as others have had a chance. So if you don't get what you want right away you can always check back.
  18. Some tour operators have car seats. We did Native choice in Costa maya and they had one. We also usually wear the little one on shuttle buses or taxis that don't have anything.
  19. The hotel did close and is being refurbished. The property is owned by the same folks that own Margarittaville next door. You check in there at the water park and then walk over. The pool is empty at the hotel so you're really just getting the beach, some nice clean bathrooms, bar service, and then you can order food from next door. No food voucher included. It was great for what it is, a nice beach close to the ship with sparse other amenities. It's also tough to get to with there being a small set of stairs down from the walkway to the beach. You can certainly stop by shops on the way there and sort of do a picnic kinda thing.
  20. We were on a couple of weeks ago and they were taking down a lot of canopies and other things on the pool deck when we were getting off. I thought it was just for the legends of rock cruise but maybe it was to also prep for this.
  21. They definitely get the wifi but not the picture. Also minor drinks only although YMMV on that one.
  22. There were some that were broken but most were working. There were also several trees around. Apologies for the quality but here's what it looks like from the water. there are normal loungers and then there are the beds with the palapas. We got the passes here https://www.resortforaday.com/ and it was just over $50 for 2 of us.
  23. The walk to Junkanoo is fine, the port is currently under a lot of construction though so there is a huge bottle neck with leaving the actual port area. Once you get past that it is just normal city stuff.Highly recommend you go in a street to Bay St and walk on that as those sidewalks are better than the ones on the street closest to the port. We have definitely seen some positive changes in the area over the last year+ and a lot of things have re opened. We have no problem walking around with our 2 young kids and stroller through most of the areas. A couple of weeks ago we did a day pass at Serenity Beach at British Colonial. It was well worth it for some pretty chill beach time. It is tough to get to though with a stroller or mobility issues. You go to the Fins up water park and check in then follow a walkway back to the beach at the BC. There is a narrow wooden stairway at the end down to the beach from the sea wall that then puts you out on a tiny spot without much beach to step down to. We made it with carrying the stroller down and I didn't mind a slight step into water with my sandals for the 20 or so feet to the rest of the beach. It was great for our few hours there with some food and bar service. DW did say though that the frozen drinks didn't compare to the ones at the huts on Junkanoo though.
