  1. Same with us, one time use then gone! We clean our phone all the time also, if we have touched with dirty hands or if we have had to hand our phone to someone else it gets wiped with a clorox wipe. Sounds like we both may be a little over the top, 11 separate cruises since the re-start, so far so good. Doug
  2. It amazes me after all of us have seen the lickers and no hand washers that almost no one wears gloves in the lido. We take tons of the thin plastic gloves like you can use at gas stations. We put them on immediately after washing our hands as we enter. We get the strangest looks, but so far so good. Even the lido servers are touching everyone's plate. So a licker has handed their plate to the server, who hands it back. Then it's your turn, you hand them your plate and then they hand it back. Ready to wear gloves now? Doug
  3. How recent was your cruise and what ship, please? We are on 3 b2b's on Discovery starting next Sunday. Thank you so much for the current situation, knowing it could/might change at any moment. Doug
  4. We are also on the NA, Oct. 8 but from SD to FLL, 17 days, then staying on for 5 more days, then transferring to the Rotterdam the same return day in FLL for 3 Caribbean b2b's, 53 days total, should be a blast! Will be very interesting to see and feel the differences in the 2 HAL ships. Doug
  5. Ha, thanks. I ordered and prefer lamb rib chops almost medium, between medium rare and medium. Clearly, not close, but oh well, still on a great ship, only one meal out of many, e pluribus unum, only different application! Doug
  6. Just saw your post about booking the trip from Vancouver to Fll this October! Glad you will be joining, as you know, this is, I think, a wonderful itinerary. I bet we will run into each other, maybe in the retreat or some other spot. As far as the ports new to you, as you probably know, in Skagway, a lot of people take the train up into Canada but the route has been shortened for track repair and also not having to do all the Canadian entry requirements. As for San Fransisco, we were there a few months ago on a California coastal. We walked along the embarcadero up to the Ferry building, about a 20 minute walk where there are small shops and take out restaurants to grab a bite. Next time for us, we would probably go to Fisherman's Wharf and wander, lots to see and do. Later, we did take an Uber into North Beach, an Italian neighborhood about 10-15 minute ride. We met my niece who lives in the Bay area and we chose a wonderful, very local Italian restaurant Sodini's, maybe 15 tables or so and an old time bar. Food was great, not crazy expensive, opens at 5pm, and tables were full by 6, no reservations taken. In Avalon, we stayed on the ship, so no help there. Lovely harbor, a tender port. I am already excited, and your food pics make me hungry. We enjoyed many of the same dishes from Canaletto, PG and Tamarind on our NA cruise last October. Take care. Doug
  7. Thank you for all the info and pictures! Really fun to see, getting even more excited, as I mentioned, we did this same cruise last year from Seattle and are booked to go again this October from San Diego. Thanks for the refresher and bringing back wonderful memories on NA and the ports, was a great journey! Doug
  8. Same changes in departure time for the Discovery Princess from 4 to 3, operational reasons cited out of Seattle.
  9. Thanks for taking us back in time. We did this very cruise, with a few port variations, on NA but from Seattle to Ft Lauderdale last October and are doing it again this October from San Diego to FLL. The first time we had the family cabana on the other side from yours, but this upcoming cruise we are in "your family cabana". What a treat that is to have such a terrific setting to view the world going by, not to mention the service from our attendants, Christian and Norvick, both great guys. You are bringing back wonderful memories of our trip down the coast, through the canal, into the Caribbean, the Bahamas. Your descriptions and pictures are adding to my excitement to be doing it again this October. Thanks for the refresher course, thanks for sharing the adventure. Doug
