  1. Unfortunately no, you cannot be able to choose whether to accept or not. I bid on an upgrade and it was accepted, we had no choice, in fact, you have to provide a credit card when you submit your bid and the card is charged before you are even notified. You have no recourse after you are assigned a new cabin. We went from an inside to an obstructed deluxe balcony, so for us it worked out. We only found out by email after Princess had charged our card. Good luck with your decision. Doug
  2. We spent 35 days in a Marina deck cabin, no issues at all, but we checked a ship deck plan before so we knew exactly what was above us and it was a men's restroom just as you entered the buffet area, do there are great cabins on Marina, just check it out if you have any choice. Doug
  3. Just received accepted bid on b2b#3, for those of you interested. On b2b #1&2 we were able to stay in our same cabin, an obstucted deluxe balcony, but on#3 we were assigned a regular deluxe balcony so will have to move, oh well, worked out better than I had hoped. Doug
  4. I have been pleasantly surprised as we booked an inside on a b2b2b in Alaska on the Royal and made 3 separate bids. The first one came through to a deluxe balcony and on the second leg, our bid was also accepted to a deluxe balcony.... to the same cabin, so no move! Standing by to see if we can stay in our same cabin for cruise #3, stay tuned. Was not sure how the bid system would handle b2b's, I guess the bidding algorithm has figured it out, must admit I was surprised.
  5. That's what I thought, but good to get confirmation. Doug
  6. Barely above the minimum, not sure b2b had any impact on the amount, but was very pleased that somehow the system knew we were also booked for the next week to give us the same cabin at the same bid amount. We shall see about week 3! Doug
  7. I don't think you can use gift cards as the bid process is handled through a 3rd party vendor. I imagine they require immediate cc payment information but you can ask your CVP. Doug
  8. We successfully upgraded on 2 of 3 legs of our b2b2b with no news of #3. When bidding, you must supply credit card info and believe me the moment Princess accepts your bid, your cc is charged, even before they notify you. The notification arrives very quickly and there is no turning back as you have already paid. For us, it was an ok upgrade from inside to obstructed deluxe balcony. Even better, we were upgraded to the same cabin for both voyages! Doug
  9. Hello Hank, @Hlitner, we recently added Premier to our Alaskan bookings after already paying for specialty restaurants and Princess refunded our payments within a couple of days. Was easy for us to get our money back for the 2 free specialty bookings per cruise. Hope this helps with your decision. Doug
  10. We did this in Feb/Mar and it was great. Heartily disagree about Fanning Island, a real dump. The natives don't care about much except begging for stuff, usually sending their kids to be the front beggars. Island is filthy, garbage everywhere, no pride at all. Imagine Haiti. No pens for the livestock, pigs tied to trees with ropes, with broken legs, totally disgusting. HAL should skip this stop, depressing attitude and culture. Compare to Dravuni, night and day, pride versus no pride, night and day. When we return to the South Pacific, will not waste our time being depressed by the i nabitants of Fanning Island. Took baggies of treats and supplies to share, afraid we just encouraged the current give me something mindset. Doug
  11. They will provide a corkscrew but no stopper. Many of the bottles are screw top, so, more and more are moving that way, won't need a stopper. Doug
  12. In theory, yes. However, as it is Holland we are talking about, you just never know how strict it accommodating they may be. All wine must be in your carry-on when boarding and they may send you to the alcohol table to pay the corkage and place a sticker on it proving you have paid. At that point you may drink your wine wherever you please. We have had it happen both ways, corkage and no corkage. Have fun! Doug
  13. We also have all our wine delivered to the cabin at one time. Another advantage to us is when we go to dinner ( or Pinnacle Lunch) we just take it eith us. No waiting for staff to locate your bottle and bring it to you. I'm sure many of us gave seen folks waiting for their wine way past starters and sometimes till after mains arrive. I like to start our meals with a nice cold white, then move on to a nice red depending on entree order. Keeping it with us in the cabin saves and bringing it to dinner saves time and frustration! Doug
  14. You say this as if there is something wrong with that! LOL Doug
  15. I see that, but on Rotterdam from Oct.30 to Nov.30, no 10 oz on the menu.
  16. No, I believe you have it backwards, it has gone from 10 oz to 8 Oz, only filet choice now. Wonderful recently on our Rotterdam adventure, maybe once a week for 4 weeks, not including sea day lunches! Service, food great, not fond of the $7 extra charge for extra app, but oh well, $7 for a nice wedge salad or a nice shrimp cocktail, or clothesline bacon not a deal killer for me. Doug
  17. Just did this from NA to Rotterdam with 2 bottles kept from wine package purchased on NA. Had NA sommelier put a sticker on each bottle, took over to Rotterdam in carry on, no issues! Doug
  18. Yes, I believe so. Have flirted with it, but Volendam is not my fav. Doug
  19. Volendam round trip from San Diego Jan 4, 2024 ......94 nights sail around Australia Doug
  20. I also just checked health protocol tools and our Oct 7 Panama canal cruise from San Diego to FLL shows no test required if fully vaccinated, wonder if we can really trust this new info. Site says updated Sept.21. Doug
  21. We are on NA Oct 25, a 5 day from FLL, had a port change TO Key West instead of Grand Turk. Always something, ok with the change, it is what it is. All good! Doug
