I also sent one to our Vancouver consulate. I wanted them to realize that we understand that you need a visa but make it user friendly. Especially for people coming off cruiseships for a few hours. We have to get back on the ship so there is no fear of staying and requiring thousands of dollars of banking proof. I think the cruiselines should play hardball and threaten to avoid Brazilian ports. I wouldnt like to miss them but some pressure is required I think. I cannot imagine how many people who are not computer literate or not versed in Portuguese or English can accomplish this. We speak English and are computer literate and it is not simple. A Mac doesnt work well.

It said 14 days on website but the cruise is actually 15 days. The issue is people could miss the payment as they assume that the second leg TP is due after the first leg when it is actually before.

Too late already booked non refundable. I will keep it in mind for the future. I think these two cruises will be sold out relatively quickly.

FYI check your Tokyo to Seattle final payment date. It is actually before the Singapore Tokyo leg. I just called and they said that RCL is now increasing the time before final payment to 120 days for 14 days and more. They also charged higher deposit amount by approx 50%. Just wanted to make everyone aware in case they missed final payment date thinking it was 90 days out.

Have you discussed with Oceana? I think this needs some massaging via a collective effort from the cruiselines. I personally do not feel comfortable giving banking info for a port stop where we Re only dropping cash and getting back on the ship. I fully understand if we are staying in Brazil and they lose control of your whereabouts but the crew would be more likely to stay and not get back on board. How on earth do they get their visas for port stops only

Have any on here received their visas? It has gone very quiet. Please update if you have time. I read a travel article the other day and the editor said he would not trust individuals with the banking info in Brazil. He was concerned about fraud, potential kidnapping and other disturbing possibilities. I myself have concerns about sending this info also. He thinks this will discourage people from holidaying in Brazil. On a cruise you have to return to the ship, so why do you have to show that you can afford to stay in the country? My cruise is literally there for 10 hours.

Maybe a collective letter signed by all of the cruiselines with the economic benefit that may be lost would give it more clarity and efficiency. I have no problem paying a reasonable fee but it should be easy to apply and confirm.

Yes mine is Air Canada and Latam from Miami to Santiago and are non refundable. The only reason I took that option is to cut an extra 6 hrs of time from Vancouver. United cancelled my original booking.

I booked on Saturday and I do know that you cannot book seats until the fare is fully paid. So maybe the airline confirm code coincides with that. That being said I had a seamless booking seats process after I received the code.

Thanks for the tips. It does say Valparaiso on our itinerary. I was sceptical also about that but others have assured me that Celebrity uses Valparaiso. I will ask again at final payment.
