I had only the symptoms of a Bronchial Infection. My wife however had all the symptoms of RSV a few days after we got home.
On the same cruise and your description was perfect. I wore a mask except when eating but sure I caught RSV and still have the nasty cough. I guess even masked up didn't work but I sure tried.

Sea Day~March 6
Another Beautiful Morning
Because of the time change, I was up early again so went down to the International Cafe to see if they had any pistachio croissants (sadly, they never have them in the buffet). On the way I stopped at the customer service desk (it was empty but someone came out of the office as I approached). I said that in the app, I had requested a handheld shower head & we were ok without it, but I was wondering if they really were available. She said that it was not a problem, took the room number & said it would not be right away. I believe we had the showerhead before lunch, but I know it was that day. The showerhead is delightful! Not only can you take it off the holder & direct the spray wherever you wish, It also, when on the holder, rains down from the center of the shower stall which is so much nicer in that tiny shower. It is adjustable with several settings & has a switch to turn off the water flow. Since we are on the subject of Princess showers, my sister loves the way you can set the temperature separately from turning the shower on & off (then the temp is the same every time you shower) so much that when we redid their bathroom last year it had to have that feature.
Breakfast was in the buffet again. The buffet is almost completely self-service now. On our recent cruises last year, we got used to things in single serving dishes. Now those have basically vanished for big serve-your-own dishes. Even things that were served in’ the days before’ are self-serve…there is a big toasting machine to toast your own bread, bagels, etc...bacon & eggs, oatmeal…even the carving station at lunch, they now will carve a bunch & leave it to serve yourself. There is also no one at the entrance to the buffet, telling people to use sanitizer & handing out plates. This is just one of several areas where it becomes apparent that staffing is not what it once was.
On the way to the buffet, I noticed that the pools on either side of the central Lido deck elevators were open & there were even people swimming that early…it is obviously getting warmer as we approach Hawai’i. The Stanley Bears even changed into their warm weather clothes & hung out on the balcony.
In crafting class, I finally got my popcorns done & started adding the fluff. While we were there there was an emergency announcement for some crew team to report to the Horizon Court Galley. Not long after, Captain Ruggero, who always apologizes for disturbing us, wanted to let us know that there was a problem with a solenoid in the kitchen that created some smoke, but that it was handled. He really is good about communicating at least some details about what is happening.

Thank you so very much for showing us the hand held shower. Looks just perfect. Glad you are having a great cruise. We will be boarding the Crown when you get off so really enjoying all your pictures. Thanks again.

Just wondering if there are any new movies playing on the Crown at this time or are they all relatively old? Will be on the Crown Friday and hubby is a movie buff. Thanks for any movies that you can list for us.

swells are too bad for the tender operations...it might be my favorite port, but that's cruising
Are you enjoying your modified shower fixture? I sure hope they will change mine out next week on our 28 day Crown cruise. Any pictures of it yet? Thanks

Today I am up very early, 4am-ish, due to time changes & no one was at the CS desk, so I stopped by to see if they do actually change out the shower heads, the very nice lady said, oh yes they do that... Even though I said we would be OK without it, she put in the request for the room division to change it out...we will see how long that takes.
Thank you so much for checking on this. It is very important to me. enjoy your cruise.

that is basically the same...room service is supposed to do it, but they can be very slow about it so the room steward will offer to do it to make their cabins happy...we decided to wait & room service got to it on the 2nd sea day after the customer service desk called to remind them for us
we did not need the hand held shower head, it is just nice & when I saw it on the Medallion app I said yes please so we didn't ask to have it changed, but if I get a chance I will ask if it is possible/available & let you kow what I find out.
I really do need the hand-held shower head and would appreciate it so much if you can find out if they can change them upon request. I too, requested it on the Medallion and am disappointed to hear it's not happening. Thanks so much for your great reporting. We are on the Crown March 17th.

Looking for the best and most convenient transportation from Long Beach airport to Crowne Plaza EXCLUDING UBER. Need transportation for 4 people, some mobility-challenged, which can be very convenient to get to. Taxi, shuttle, limo? Which would you suggest (and who?) Thanks for all replies.

Buy a nice bottle of Scotch, Tell them to leave it in cabin D714 for the May 23rd sailing.......
Hurricane Ian interrupted 2 ports for me on Celebrity last year. Wife came home with some jewelry and clothes, I ended up with 16 and 19 year old scotches. We had quite a bit of OBC to use on that cruise, and only had excursions at the two ports that were canceled.
Lucky you. Hurricane Ian provided you with some Scotch and wife with new clothes and jewelry. Ian provided us with a missing carport and roof since we were in the bullseye of Ian. LOL

Can anyone give me a rough estimate what a taxi would cost from the Long Beach Airport to Crowne Plaza in San Pedro? I know Uber is cheaper but am comparing costs for someone who is adverse to using Uber. Thanks for any estimates you can share.

Can someone on Crown tell me if the soap is all liquid or do they have a bar of soap and do they have the small bottles of lotion? Thanks.

Yes...and even 3+ star Cunard Princess had lobster and silver service dinner!
Isn't the bottom line that we are blessed to be able to cruise? And we will never go hungry on the cruise even if not all your favorites are listed in one venue. I don't hear many people saying they lost weight on a cruise. LOL

HA!!! There are ALWAYS FREE Shuttles to Hilo Hatties. BUT, Hattie's is WALKING distance from the Tender drop off point. It's located in Lahaina Town in an OUTLET shopping center. At least it was in FALL 2019.Well, now you have confused me. LOL Easy to do. Is Hilo Hatties not in Hilo?

If history is your thing, Lahaina was the Kingdom of Hawaii capital way back when. Lots of historical buildings to pop in and out of. All the shops are the same. But there is Lappert’s ice cream. And I’m sure Tiki Dave told you about the shave ice place (not my favorite). Look for some original Maui Potato chips or Manju. Last chance to visit Hilo Hattie’s for your free shell necklace/free shuttle.
Original Maui Divers and Pacific Whale Foundation are on Front Street. And watch for whales.

Do you know how to get the shuttle to Hilo Hatties from the ship?

By the way I suggest that you get off the Princess transfer bus at terminal 1 (Southwest). That will save you a lot of time getting to the other side plus you'll be first on the hotel shuttle. Of course you will have to endure the traffic around the other terminals on the hotel shuttle but at least you will be on your way out of the airport.
Thank you so much for that advice. What do you mean by the "other side?"

I may be wrong and someone will definitely set me straight.
I believe Princess Transfers drop you off at the upper level departure terminals (where the ticket counters are). I am not sure you will be allowed to get on the hotel shuttle that is dropping off passengers at the departure terminal.
Hotel shuttles pick up on the lower level baggage claim (outside curb).
Doesn't Princess ask you for travel information (airline/flight number/time)?
A quick google search produced this:
Where is hotel shuttle pick-up at LAX?LAX Transportation
Shuttle stops are located at the PINK LAX Shuttle signs on the Lower/Arrivals level in front of each terminal.Thank you so much for that information. My TA booked my transfer to LAX after the cruise so not exactly sure if she had to put in an airline but I guess it really doesn't matter. We can get off at any of them then go downstairs to baggage and find the shuttle. Thanks again for everyones help.

I would think they would drop you off at whatever terminal/airline that you are flying . ( i.e. arrival level) Maybe someone will chime in where they actually drop off at.
LAX has nine passenger terminals. But it sounds like you just want to ride to the airport and then catch a airport hotel bus? Hotel shuttles at LAX are located on the upper/departure level identified by red curbside pylons at all Terminals.
Thank you so very much. You gave me all the right answers. Have a great weekend

Does anyone know where the Princess transfer bus drops off at LAX? Also, any information how close it might be to LAX hotel shuttles? Thanks for the info.

I’m on this same cruise and the wellness check is still on the app for me. Just uploaded our vaccination cards today.
I wasn't referring to the wellness check. I was talking about the Health tool that used to be on our Personalizer at the top that was specific for our cruise but is no longer there. Sorry if I confused you.

I am a local...lived in various parts of Southern California virtually my entire life.
My number one recommendation--by far--is Santa Monica. Epecially if you won't have a car or don't want to deal with driving/parking in LA.
Santa Monica hotels can be pricey...but worth every dollar. First off, it is in one of the better neighborhoods of LA--better weather (and, yes, that varies greatly in SoCal from one area to another), more upscale, safer, more pedestrian friendly...
From Santa Monica, you can pick up all sorts of tours into Hollywood, etc. or you can get the HOHO bus...or, if you are brave and want to try and figure it out, you can even use the Metro to get to Downtown and Hollywood. But, most importantly, it gives you a lot of iconic LA attractions within easy walking distance or a short Uber ride. And there is lots to do in the evenings as well.
Stay in a hotel near the Santa Monica Pier/Third Street Promenade/Palisades Park. Loews, Marriott LeMarigot, Fairmont Miramar, Huntley, Shutters-on-the-Beach, Marriott Courtyard, Hampton Inn, Pierside (formerly Wyndham), Georgian, Ocean View...
You can find a lot of shops and restaurants nearby...Lots of street performers along the Third Street Promenade...walk along the cliffs at Palisades Park at sunset...enjoy the attractions on the Santa Monica Pier. The iconic Venice Beach Boardwalk is a short Uber ride (or even public bus) away. It's a quick Uber ride to the Getty Center Museum or to the Getty Villa...
It's about a ten mile Uber ride north of LAX...and 30 miles south to get to San Pedro for the cruise...really not all that bad...
In LA for first time next month and was thinking of taking the HOHO bus. Have read that it might not be a good option to see much but we have used HoHo buses in many places and have been pleased with what we saw. Where do you get on/buy tickets and are there several different routes to choose from? If so, which would be a better route for someone slightly mobility-challenged but still able to get around fairly well? Thanks for all your wonderful information.

They may be updating. Did you try voyage number and the booking no and name?
Post that on the roll call, as someone can advise if they see anything.
Did they update your travel summary or show update on the cruise personalizer? Seems past changes have come from PCL by email.
The link for health tools, voyage number, etc. is what disappeared. lol

How far out is the cruise the only one I get results for is one for March all my other cruises in June and September don’t have any info yet. Using the health too and entering the voyage number will get you the most info. I would check every few days as things can change
It is March and I had been using the link to the health tool and filling in the Voyage number, etc. and about 5 days ago, that link disappeared.
Princess disembarkation at San Pedro with airport transfer to LAX info (with actual times)

You might want to consider what happened approximately 3 weeks ago. Arrived in San Pedro early, got off the ship around 9am and then stood in immigration line for over an hour. Once through that line, we stood in 2 double lines waiting for the buses for almost 4 hours. Once on the bus it was a quick trip but that morning anyone flying out earlier than 3:30 or 4:00pm would not have made it. Yep, things happen so never expect that kind of timing, and then there is the unreal traffic at the airport at certain times. Plan carefully.
