    Hi

Where are you sailing that you need a test?

I thought all that was done away with for almost all cruises

Here in California we get tested at cvs pharmacies

You make appointments in their web site

The Enhanced cruises out of San Pedro still require the test, unfortunately.  I have called Urgent Care.  Won't do it for anyone with insurance.  (yeah that's what they said) and CVS doesn't do it at the location in San Pedro

Would you be able to get it before leaving home?   I booked Walgreens at home as a backup. Then, didn’t need it, as we did emed and then I cancelled my appmt.

I leave the 15th of March.  Cruise is the 17th of March.  Perhaps if I got it late in the day on the 14th, it would count as 3 days??  LOL

Most of Princess’ Hawaii cruises are going to Lahaina.  This is one of the few that did not.  Lahaina is the gateway to the Kaanapali region, which has long been ranked as the go-to place in Hawaii featuring the best beaches in the world.  The other side of the island isn’t as nice but  was built up more with luxury hotels.

The area where the ship docks is the turd of Maui.  Not sure if they have a rental car shuttle but it’s only a 35-45 minute walk to the airport to pick one up.  Or you could walk 10 minutes and take a direct city bus for $2pp.  Takes 90 minutes to get there although it’s a scenic drive.

When the ship ports in Lahaina, do the shuttle boats drop you directly downtown?

So, have I got this correct: they automatically charge your credit card that you on file immediately without you accepting the offer? I  know other cruise lines do this, but I thought Princess sent an email and you could either accept or deny it. I only ask about this because there seems to be some confusion whether or not you have a grace period of a couple of days to accept.

Thanks in advance for the clarification.

Hello, thinking of taking my 82 year old mother onboard.   How high is the step into the bathroom ?   No Handicapped cabins available and this is my biggest concern.   Does anyone with knee problems find getting in difficult?

Specifically interested in the Discovery Princess if anyone has personal knowledge.   Thanks so much

Almost every Princess ship seems to have the same size step up into the bathroom which is not that high at all BUT I have a much harder time stepping down out of the bathroom.  Yes, I am old and have mobility issues but I have to hold on to the side of the door to step down.

Princess has stated that part of the Sancuary would be for Suite guests.  As with many other things with the Sun we the devil is in the details which we will not see for months.

Months sounds like a long time not to have any details.  I am really shocked that the buffet is so close to the IC.  Makes no sense to me.

They are still showing the Sanctuary and pool on deck 18.   So, yes, I can see that being the Aft pool as the adult,  since this is aft instead of forward on this new ship.  So, that Wakeview Club with the small infinity pool very well could be the exclusive suite/signature area.   That is my guess.

There had been talk of half of the Sanctuary being exclusive.   But, if what is showing, and my guess is right,  The Wakeview Club could be exclusive.   And the Retreat Pool on deck 18 the adult pool.  There would be no direct Wakeview Bar for all access, like on all the other ships.  As the Sanctuary would block that.     BUT, there would be now be full bow view access in The Dome area on deck 17 forward.  So, that would be a switch-off.

I think there are a Lot of these things still to be worked out!

What exactly is supposed to be located in the dome area anyway?  For some reason I thought there were pools there.

I was on the Sky in 2019 and the Wake View Pool was accessible to everyone. That was on the Lido Deck.  According to Cruise Mapper the Wake View Club and Infinity Pool is on Deck 8. It looks like the stairs go to Deck 9 along with other access points. My guess is it is accessible to everyone. The only thing is the Deck Plan doesn't show a bar near the Infinity Pool area. Closest bar is Crooners in the Piazza. The Princess Deck Plans show nothing.

Let's hope it's not exclusive. With multiple access points to this area, it would seem highly unlikely. But then again.

I have never been on a ship that didn't have food and drink near the pools and I'm sure they will also have them on the Sun.  I think we will see those spots become visable in a little time.

We’ve been cruising on Princess for 30 years.  When they came out with the original Crown and Regal, we hesitated as they were too big. We tried them and loved them.
Then came the Sun class ships.  Nope, too big.  We tried the and loved them.

Then the Grand class ships.  Same deal.

Then the Royal class.  Now these were just too big and they eliminated the wrap around promenade deck.  No way we’re doing that.  We’ve sailed on the Royal class ships now 5 times.  We love them.

My point is, you don’t know until you go!
And yes, I’m hesitant about the new Sun Princess! Lol!

Being a Gemini I love change.  Looking forward to something different.  I may love it and if I don't I can always go back to my old favorite, the Regal.  Someone mentioned that it was a 3 story dining room.  Did anyone else get that impression?  Looking forward to experiencing something different and yet, some very familar places.

I am pleased to share the the bid prices for our upcoming cruise finally hit Earth, for some categories at least. Based on my experience, it seems like they start out high, and the closer you get to sailing, the lower the bid prices MAY become.

Did you bid at the higher price or just wait until they came down?  Did they send you another invitation to bid with lower prices?

I suspect your mentioned price is on the high side, but you posted insufficient info in order for the members here to form an opinion.  Which Category of OV are you in?  Which Category of Balcony are you bidding on?  Most important - how long is your entire voyage so that the cost is relevant to the cruise length?

It is a 28 day to Hawaii/South Pacific.  An obstructed oceanview to a reg. balcony

  12. Was just offered a bid option but not sure if it is a good figure to go from an Oceanview to a balcony for $1035. pp.  We have 4 months until cruise and there are a ton of rooms available.  First question:  if I wait a month (or more) is there a chance that the price will come down?  Also:  has anyone got a room location that was really bad and your TA had success moving you to a better room?  Thanks for any info.

Bidding should open for my 1/11 sail date in the next day or two.  As of now there are about 700+ rooms and suites open (50%), MOSTLY balcony or above, that show on the booking site. That might make it interesting.

I'm in an inside for now.  The bump to an obstructed balcony would have been $360 total and was the cheapest upgrade when booking. Paying more for the upgrade than I did for the total cruise for 3 didn't excite me.  Mini suite would be amazing, but my realistic goal will be a deluxe balcony for the sofa.  I'm hoping for the opportunity to upgrade us to anything better than a forward inside at a cost that makes me feel like I got a bargain!  If not...eh...it was worth a shot and we're still happy to be on the ship and escaping the January cold.

How could you possibly see 700+ rooms available on your cruise?  Every time I check my cruise I rarely see more than 25 total.  What am I missing here?  Thanks for the info.
