No we don't fall in any of the categories. We are both mid 40's and healthy. My gf works as a teacher though and I think the other teachers talking to her about it plus the news media has caused her to want to cancel. I still want to go, but I don't want her to be uncomfortable.

I still don't know what to do. I understand everything they have said about the virus, but I think we are bordering on media frenzy panic. UGH

We are on the same cruise and struggling with the decision as well. I want to go, but now my gf wants to cancel. Most likely will cancel now, unfortunately.

Do you guys fit in one of those categories of people NOT advised to cruise? Or are you doing it out of precaution?

  3. We are leaving Sunday for 7 days Western Caribbean on the EDGE. We have until midnight tonight for the Cruise with Confidence FCC. I keep packing yet I am still "on-the-fence" UGH! I want to go, and I am not so much afraid of catching the virus as I am Trump and/or his administration getting more unhinged and not allowing back into the country. Well I have 12 hours, unless RCI/Celebrity decides for me.

I absolutely LOVE our CVP!  He has called us when there's a good deal to be had, even though I follow prices on our booked cruises every day, sometimes it's hard to figure out all the details by doing a mock booking.  I'm not looking for more OBC - we never use what we have and are always looking for something to buy on the last night to spend it all.  I love that I have someone specific to call, knows me, knows what I'm going to ask ahead of time (I swear he reads my mind), can book all my dinner reservations ahead of time, sends me extra info on all excursions, emails and calls me back on time, and has saved me a ton of money. I also like the control that booking directly accords...when there are issues with the cruise, it's much easier to deal with than a TA.

    THANKS!!!!

My CVP's were young and eager...also VERY patient....I'm usually prepared from online investigation and provide details so they don't have to do a lot of work initially.  But, if I want changes - cabin, price decreases, etc - they have quickly honoured my requests if valid.  Also follow up phone calls may be a little later than I'd like, but I recognize work load, so I have to be patient also.  I usually communicate by email which gets faster results.  Hope you're successful with your change if that's what you elect to do.

Thank you. I am even on LinkedIn searching for Celebrity Vacation Planners

  7. I was curious as to how people got connected with their Celebrity Vacation Planner? The guy I use is a dud, and I know we can not solicit referrals for CVP's, so I would like to know how you got connected with them, and how long have you been using them and do you you use them for every cruise?

    Thank you

No matter how it gets on your card, you have to make sure to cash out frequently otherwise you will have not only played all your OBC, but any winnings over and above your OBC (which is what you're could to be taking home).

Thank you!  We always cash out if we are ahead, even if it's only 20 bux. We will check the card first and then go see the cashier if its not there. I know on Holland you can charge it to your account....which is convenient, but can also be dangerous if one is not careful. Thanks again.

  9. We’re the carpets new in regular veranda cabin?

I sure hope so. As far as beds go IMHO HAL’S “Signature of Excellence” brought very comfortable beds to the Vista and Signature class ships. I thought they were more comfortable than those on Celebrity, Royal, and no doubt Princess(worst beds at sea).

We were on Konigsdam in a vista suite for 10 days over Thanksgiving and to be honest, they are all the same to me.

  10. Beds in terms of comfort are subjective I suppose - we have always found the beds to be fantastic (4 cruises on Noordam/Eurodam). Are you referring to the sofa bed or main beds?

Regular bed. It is very subjective, I agree. It did not keep me awake mind you, it's just not like a regular bed.

  11. Based on this and your other posts, I notice that you're focused on the newness of the rooms. If this is your priority, I recommend you book a sailing on the newest ship, the Koningsdam. I'm worried that you will be disappointed with anything else.

The only thing new was the sofa bed. I did not pull it out, and my spouse insisted it was just reupholstered, but it was very firm to sit on.

No, just in the public areas, except for the lido forward near the spa....they still have that ugly seafoam green

  13. Thanks for the update. I’ve been asking on previous posts if the carpeting and furniture have been replaced in veranda cabins? No one has answered yet.

I am happy to learn that the sofas have been replaced and that the casino is smoke free. I’m not a gambler but the smoke always pollutes the areas near the casino.

Also are the flat screen TVs mounted on the wall?

    Thank you.

I think the only thing new in the Verandah cabin that we were in was the sofa bed. The TV's are the same, but mounted on the wall and not movable/tilting. The beds are still dreadful though.

  14. Also wondering, is the Screening Room gone? It still shows on the deck plans on HAL website.

The screening room is still there with the big plush leather chairs. I am not sure if they are going to change that. It is not called the screening room either and when they had movies, they were in the big theater.

  15. Many thanks for the update on the NA. Wondering if the new sofa bed was in a regular verandah cabin? New flat screen TV? Love that the casino is now smoke free - yay!

Yes - we were in a regular Verandah cabin. My spouse insisted it had just been reupholstered, but it was very firm, making me think it was brand new.

  16. Yes, the TVs are mounted on the wall. As previously stated, the NA received new TVs a while ago. They are not a part of this refurb. And I still doubt that all cabins were refurbished- that would be a massive project, and given what was already planned, would require much more time and/or manpower. But I will let a recent sailer confirm this.

In our Verandah cabin, the TV was mounted on the wall between the bed and the sitting area (desk and pull-out sofa bed)

  17. Just got off today. Here is what is new:

Billboard has been added directly across from the casino.

Northern Lights is wholly transformed into a Gallery bar, which is a combo lounge/bar, etc. with lots of art to view.

Explorations Cafe is gone. Crows nest is gone. It is now Explorations Central with large table-sized interactive displays. It is also the explorations office and desk. There are lots of tables and chairs to sit/read/play. It takes up the space of the old exploration cafe. The cafe/bar is in the old crow's nest, still serving coffee drinks and alcohol, but no finger sandwiches, cookies, etc.

All new carpet and furniture in public areas.

Brand new sofa bed in the cabin.

    The casino is smoke-free.
