  1. Got an email from Captain Tuvo - we are sailing Star Princess 5/26/18 - Alaska NB. Don't know what the email signifies! Talking about filling out travel documents!

We used to get numerous precruise emails in the past, but they stopped a few years ago.Am the only one they stopped emailing?

  2. Thank you all for such great information. It sounds like we should buy my wife a watch on the cruise. Also, there seemed to be indications of sale pricing on the first day. We will check out the Citizen Eco-Drive watches before the cruise to have something to compare to the on board watches.

They will have a few sales during the cruise so don’t jump in on the first day.Normally prices only go down.

  3. We did our first guarantee on HAL last year and received our cabin the day before we sailed.Since we were in Sydney,I had printed luggage tags with no cabin #'s an just filled them in.The ship was showing sold out for weeks before the cruise so I can't figure out why they waited till the last minute to assign cabins.

  4. No one? Would really like to hear from someone who has done a TA in one of these rooms..

We did a TA in April,2016 on Regal from FT Lauderdale to Copenhagen in M108.The balcony was fine for most of the crossing but when we hit the coast of Europe we had rain everyday and it got quite cold.I would say we used the balcony for 60% of the cruise.

  5. I agree with you, and the comment made earlier about a blind man being in charge of an art gallery? That's him.

I think he must use a dartboard to make a lot of his decisions, because no rational person would make them.

I am very disappointed the Officer's Reception has been discontinued. That was one brief event that I always made time for. I suppose it cost too much to give frequent guests and suite passengers free drinks for 30 minutes.

If there are any activities on the ship during the day they are usually a yawner. I miss the games with prizes. Sure golf putting on a moving ship has a lot of luck to it, but it was fun.

I didn't always agree with Stein Kruise but he was a thousand times better than Ashford.

I miss the poolside bbq’s.The excuse for ending them was something about food temperature, but it had to have been the cost.My wife won’t even discuss going back to HAL for another cruise. Mr Ashford is the greatest example of the Peter Principle that I have ever seen.

  6. I am guessing that those yet participating in the ***** experience will be issued the standard cruise card that can be punched if using a lanyard. Just to be safe, I am packing some card holder sleeves that can be used with a lanyard for our upcoming late February voyage on the Regal and be in good shape for our December voyage on her.

We disembarked Regal on 12/3 and were not in an ***** cabin and they would not punch my card as they are all the new cards that will malfunction if tampered with!

  7. Radical? I see her as about as mainstream as you can get. No matter what your opinion may be, the woman is extremely popular. Her TV show and specials, book cub and magazine have millions of followers. Much like using the BBC Earth name HAL is trying to reach out to more people with different interests.

Try doing a web search and read her comments. She was driven out of Chicago and closed down due to poor viewership. Not liked by anyone I know here in Chicago!JMHO

  8. Just enrolled in Medicare so we lost international coverage. We are doing 2 Princess cruises next year with a total insurance cost of approximately $700.We are purchasing an annual Blue Cross-Blue Shield(Geo-Blu plan)for $220pp for $250,000 of medical and $500,000 of evacuation. We also have some international coverage on our Plan F Medicare supplements. We do not care about losing the cruise cost, luggage or trip interruption as that is something we self insure. After over 50 cruises that cost would have been enormous. We carry higher deductibles on all of our other insurance.I have been selling insurance since since 1975 and feel I understand the risks.JMHO!

  9. Hi folks,

About to take my first cruise in over a year, and just booked the Regal out of FLL in March. I've noticed the last year or so they show the arrival at 6am (it used to be 7am). Are they starting express walkoff before 6:30am now?

I'm looking at using an award ticket for a flight down and back from home, but the return time flight is at 7:45, and I wanted to see if express walk off does begin at 6:30, I could probably make that work.

Anyone done express walk off around 6:30am?

    Thanks!

We disembarked Regal on 12/3 and were in the 6:20 walkoff group that began at 6:30.We have Global Entry which includes TSA precheck and we were seated at the gate at 7:10.We had a 9:00 flight but I wouldn't book anything much earlier then that.It can be done but the stars have to be aligned.Good Luck!
