  1. Those stairs! Kudos to you! We did the zipline-don’t want to take over your thread by posting the video. They have a very strict weight restriction, usually 220 lbs but as there was a breeze that day, September 5, limit was 200 lbs-so my husband who’d been so diligent with his weight the past month, wasn’t able to do it😭😭. There were two other men while we were there, who were refused as they were only 2 lbs over-very strict.
  2. We love them, but usually simply can't stay awake that late! But definitely, they're tons of fun - the few that we've managed to see, anyway! 😜
  3. https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/cruise-ship-stuck-tug-strike If you google, there are a lot of good articles out there right now, giving up to the minute updates.
  4. Thank you for your reporting! Super fascinating! This is quite a big deal - wow!
  5. We'd have been super bummed as well. We also love the games shows and have countless medals, water bottles, lanyards and all sorts of varied Celebrity bling won as prizes, to prove it. And like you, we love the entertainment - we never miss a show, even if we think hmmm, maybe not for us, we go and are generally always very happy! We board in two days, will be taking our covid tests today. Thank you for your live thread!
  6. Simone Biles has been named the Godmother of the Beyond, so she will be on the Beyond in early November for the naming ceremony......so interesting to me that she was onboard the Infinity, now!
  7. Hi, Jim, you said that B2B testing will be happening again for you on this leg. I know you mentioned that it's because of the number of cases currently on board, but could it also be that it's a Canadian thing? We have to test to board on 8/31 since Canada is requiring it, so maybe, the B2B testing is essentially linked to that - it's technically a new cruise for you B2Bers, so Canada say, you must test again, just like the new passengers. Would be interesting to hear from cruisers who are B2Bing on cruises that don't include Canada or Bermuda or other countries that are still requiring testing to board.....
  8. Thank you so much for your live report onboard! We board the Infinity in October, and as someone posted, we also have not been on a non-revolutionized ship in since forever, way pre-covid, and with all of the negative reports that were circulating when Infinity returned to service this year, we were very concerned and thought about cancelling. For us, we will be doing a pseudo side to side, as we will be on the Beyond in Retreat, the Bayonne to FLL cruise, then one night in FLL then boarding the Infinity, Aqua Class. Will definitely be a bit of a shock, haha, after a suite on the Beyond! But thanks to your honest report, we are feeling good! Today is your disembarkation day - safe journey home!
  9. Yes, the Spa Cafe has an amazing breakfast and lunch! We prefer it greatly to the Captains Club breakfast. I feel it's an underutilized eating venue on all of the ships, but that's ok with me, lol, never ever a wait.
  10. Thanks for posting this......a moving/sad homage, very well done. Haunting!
  11. No matter what class you are in, just ask your steward for the pillow(s) of your choice. Years back, we asked to see the actual pillow menu and the steward had to stifle a chuckle, because such a thing did not actually exist on paper. In any case, we always ask for our preferred type of pillow, and et voila, they are there in our cabin before nighty night time.
  12. Are they still serving the house made limoncello as a digestif? Was always super yummy!
  13. Agree 100% - that's the whole point to Select dining, in our opinion. We do of course make reservations for specialty restaurants - but not until we board - we book the first day for evenings the rest of the cruise. We have never had a problem booking specialty restaurants the day we board for evenings throughout the cruise - even for Eden! And as far as MDR Select - sure, sometimes we have to wait, but that's ok, no problem at all. We do usually try to come close to the same time every day in order to get a preferred service team, but if our plans interfere, that's fine. In any case, the real point here - is that we NEVER book in advance. This also prevents problems in specialty restaurants with the added fees - we have often had problems with that - our elite plus discount never figures in on the times we have pre-booked in advance, so we have to have a discussion about that every time. And then there's the first night specialty restaurant discount issue......always easier for us to book and reserve, once we board. And we've never been disappointed. Including - being assigned to a main seating time but we want Select, but from home Select is booked for the cruise - once we board, we immediately see one of the many restaurant people who are floating around, and we have always been able to switch to Select.
  14. Thank you for the reality check - reading Jim and Iain's thread, you get lulled into a sense of amazement, but that's the Retreat for you! We board August 31 and we will not be in Retreat, nor Aqua, simple veranda with Select dining. We've had this cruise cancelled so many times due to covid that our original booking in Aqua got lost along the way. This will be our sixth cruise this year and what you are reporting is not at all the experience we had on Edge, Apex, Millennium or Equinox. But, each of those cruises were max 3/4 capacity. I know we will have a marvelous time, but your reporting is extremely helpful in order to manage our expectations. Thank you.
  15. Great news that as long as nothing changes before August 31 when we board, that we will be able to serve ourselves in the buffet. Thank you! And, we also love the sunset verandas - we were in fact just on the Millennium in June in an Aqua Sunset Veranda, deck 11, cabin 1130, in Alaska - the convenient location to the buffet is such a perk! The views are obviously the draw, but the location is great. And you crack me up, you are like us - we bring food to our room like you and just don't feel right leaving the plates for our cabin steward - we take our plates back down as well! (I can't get over how some people leave their dirty plates IN THE HALL - but, we won't get into that here!). Thank you for your posts and amazing photos - like you, we love the theater, love the entertainment, and generally sit in the first row - so definitely appreciate your posts!
  16. Oh yes, people were up in arms! And for a while during that chocolate-less period, as a compromise, they gave chocolate covered oreos, not every night, just one or two a cruise. That didn't last long, though. Those were great! I do miss the original chocolates though, the various flavors and colored labels - and thus, my "X" photo for my account 🤗
  17. Same, I have a baggie of them here in the kitchen cabinet - I use them in baking! I break them up into chunks - chocolate chunk cookies or chocolate chunks in banana bread, yummy!
  18. Just curious Ken, as we will be boarding in Boston on 8/31 - in Ocean View, are the guests allowed to serve themselves or is the staff serving? And I sure don't want to start a fiery debate, LOL, as there was quite a heated thread about this a month ago, 🙃. I am just curious how this is being handled on the Summit currently. Thank you!
  19. Remember when they had the flavored chocolates, and the various colored wrappers? Refer to my "photo" - the X is made up of all of the chocolates from one of our multi-back2backs some years back. We never eat them onboard, always bring them home and I thought, hmmmm, these would make an interesting photo!
  20. A very fun little island. People drive golf carts all over the island. We rented one very near the ship, a short walk away. We did not reserve it in advance, they had plenty. We drove all over, very fun, then had a great beach stop at Radio Beach - beautiful! Great local BBQ shacks there. Do a bit of research and have a great time. We will be back in Bimini in November and will do the same thing! OH, we did also go to Resort World and though very posh, we had a much better time renting the golf cart and staying at Radio Beach - more authentic - and a LOT cheaper!
  21. Captain Costas, on the Edge TA this year, during one of his amazing talks, recommended the app, "Windy" to keep track of the weather. We downloaded it and refer to it frequently. And WOW, Iceland is definitely currently getting slammed with powerful winds to the NW, and essentially circling the country to a lesser degree - fascinating. Definitely recommend this app - hey, if Captain Costas Nestoroudis not only recommends it but uses it personally, it's got to be good! And it is.
  22. Thank you, @takemewithyou, I was just going to reply, I thought I had been very clear - so I appreciate you backing me up.
  23. Haha, I am sure you saw my post on Jim and Iain's live thread! Alejandro is on the Apex now. He was on the Millennium in June with us in Alaska. He was going on vacation and was hoping to be assigned to the Infinity, because of her South American itineraries as he would have been able to bring his family on board. But at least for now, he is on the Apex. I don't know who will replace Rich. We board the Summit on Aug 31, and will leave with Rich on Sept 11. We have never cruised with Rich so we are looking forward to it.
  24. OH, I was pretty sure he was on the Apex with Flori.....I follow him on Instagram, "cruisedirectoralejandro". But I could be wrong, of course!
