1. Kusadasi is still on for the Reflection for the current cruise, I don't think they will be changing it for this season. It would be like canceling a stop in Nice because of the Paris attacks.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

To me its more like Tunisia beaches after the earlier museum attack. I really think an attack on the coast resorts in Turkey is just a matter of time- I truly hope I am wrong. Glad to hear of the security at St Mary's house (ironically a place of worship for several religions)

  2.

I am going to start leaving my shoes and vacation bag in a chair I want in the Schooner bar. That way, I can go to the windjammer and eat, go up to my room to get something, or go get photos printed and when I come back my seat is saved.

    P.

Do not need to remove medical pumps when going to the windjammer so would have no need to leave in the Schooner bar - NOT the same as going in the pool- not everyone is the same different people have different needs

  3. I would disagree that Kurdasi is no more safe than home.

I was their last month on the Reflection...the security at the port entrance was pathetic and the same at Ephesus.

They had unarmed security at entrance to port shopping area that leads into cruise terminal

No armed security at Ephesus entry either...made me feel very uneasy.

Ephesus really worries me too especially as most tours also do the holly shrine for st Mary (very close by) a religious shrine for Christians and Muslims which is run jointly but mainly funded by the church much to the distaste of many Muslim groups. I am staying on the ship here luckily I have been before many years ago

  4. I don't know if that is a real question. You place it on the ground, in a cubby, or literally anywhere except in a chair where someone might want to sit. We do it every time. Why do your flip flops need to take up a chair while you swim?

not all people can do this- some have electronic medical equipment and that they could not risk getting either stood on or wet so wrap it up in a towel and place it on a bed that they can keep there eyes on the whole time. They also have emergency stuff that theyor a member of their party may need to get to quickly while they are in the pool. Not everyone is just leaving flip flops and books.

  5. The simplest solution to this is to not allow anything to ever be left on an unattended chair on sea days. Even to get up, walk to the bar, and back.

Have attendants constantly removing items from every chair the moment they are unoccupied. No tags, no timing, no exceptions. Unless a human being is laying in a chair, it is open.

Seems like it would be a pain in the neck, but seats would constantly be opened so even if you got in the pool and someone got in your chair there would be open chairs available elsewhere.

how would that work- what about people going in the pool they cant take their stuff in the water with them

  6. We are touring Slovenia and Croatia just prior to cruise - will be flying Turkish Airways to Ataturk Airport in Istanbul and connecting to Slovenia. We are not changing any plans - !@#$ the terrorists!

some cruises have already changed to start and end in Athens instead- not sure how far into summer this continues- but I would check with celebrity before you book your flights

  7. It is moments like these that reinforce the adage that as soon as you make an overseas travel booking book your travel insurance at the same time. At least then if you are caught up in a mire similar to this you can get your travel costs refunded.

It is also not prudent to check the small print regarding one's travel insurance policy as many insurance companies are now issuing their own travel advisories about which countries they will cover for insurance. Our insurance company for example will cover Turkey but not Ankara, Istanbul and the Syrian border. It is also timely to check out one's host country's travel advisories as these statements by one's govt could also have a bearing on travel insurance coverage

UK insurance policies do not cover terror attacks (get out clauses also include act of nature - (reminds me of the film the man who sued god), also our polices become void if a do not travel is issued by the gov.

  8. also on a similar note on our first sea day we did not realize there would be an issue over loungers (even chairs) so went for a relaxing breakfast. then went to pool deck not a single chair to be had. Worse some people had a chair for each child and did not even think to make them share and offer them to older people or those who really needed them. MY dd and I sat on towels on the ground (I am in a wheel chair and dd was in crutches with leg in plaster (thigh to ankle). Not one person helped us out. - We survived it lol but went to pool deck at 8.30am on 2nd sea day.

  9. We were on the June 1st Jewel cruise and I saw a pool attendant ask two young men to leave the adult pool. They seemed to be about 13 or 14. They were not creating any problems, either. I guess someone "reported" them.

Also, my sister and I were in loungers in the Solarium and there was almost a fistfight between two women over a chair next to ours. Security was called and names were taken. I don't know the official outcome except that one woman "got" the chair....

A similar thing happened to us on the Rhapsody last year. My dd's had gone to lunch and had been away about 20 mins when a woman came over and started shouting at me as my DH and I had a towel on their longer (they were sharing it). I explained she was at lunch and would be back five mins or so- but she went ballistic- I tried to calm her saying my dd is on crutches with her leg in plaster, so needs the chair (and also why she was slower at lunch as her sis had to get her food etc). In the end she was screaming so much a guard came over- we explained the situation and that my eldest had already given her chair away to an elderly lady and so we were already sharing 3 between 4 (and I am in a wheelchair and youngest who at this point had come back was on crutches). He told her to calm down or leave. 10 mins later we saw her arguing with another family with a very very disabled girl about 13yrs - she was shouting that as she had a wheel chair sitting empty she didn't need the sun longer and that teens should give them up for adults. The mother who was not an English speaker was trying to explain that a whole day in the chair is very uncomfortable for her daughter - My dh went over and told her to get lost or he was getting security a few others also joined him and someone went to get help. The girls mum was close to tears. I was ashamed to be from the same country as the aggressive woman. Luckily never saw her again

  10. We are booked in one of the new cabins on deck 4 ( 4580-4590) can someone check if there is a door between them and the centrum / dining room.

Also if anyone is in these is and would be kind enough to post pictures for me or even confirm that the bed does not run from the window towards the door. (ie runs parallel to the window)

    Thanks if someone can

  11. our fridge never appeared- (probably due to all the issues we had with our cabin switch) and when we asked on board, we were told none left :(. However, we never travel without our frio packs so it was manageable. I would always have these with us in case of any power loss on holiday (we got caught up in a storm once and lost power for 2 days). They work for stopping meds getting too cold too- used them in Lapland husky dog safari. Can't recommend them enough!!

  12. On her now new DL & CL. That's about it.

I hope there are more changes than that or we will be sleeping in the dinning room:eek:- if anyone has a chance can they check out that the new deck 4 rooms have been added and if there is a door between them and the atrium and a door or a wall between them and the dinning room. Also if any are open have a peak and let me know the layout (are the beds running from the window or parallel to it. Thanks to anyone who can have a check for me.
