$3300 (with port fees and Select drink package) for a 10 day Med cruise in a GS cabin seemed like a good deal, even though initially I had an inside cabin for the same cruise for $1600 (without the drink package).
wow- is that for the cabin or each
-
doing 9 nights on med cruise in large (new OV cabins) in early Sep for $2300 that includes taxes, service, and select drinks pack - I think that's an OK deal that's $128 pp/day but includes drinks service and port. but was hoping for $100 :D

You must take the one given to you - The only way to change after assignment is to upgrade and pay the difference in to new price on the upgrade day. That may be cheaper or more than the day you booked on - You will also loose any offer that is no longer available.
-
note you cannot change the room you have been assigned if it is a uk booking - just info in case someone reads this and makes the mistake I made. last year after reading that I could on here.;)

By no means a cruise expert only 3 cruises to our name 2 in Carnival and 1 on RCCL - Carnival was much better in terms of the main dining room for both diner and breakfast (far far better for breakfast)- But we are not big fans of any fast type food - so cannot comment on burgers pizza etc. RCCL had very good specialty restaurants with Isumi being my favorite one. Did not try any of these on the carnival cruises as the MDR was very good. However in neither lines MDR are you getting top end food- but Carnival presentation and taste was better for every MDR meal for all 4 of us. Service was also far far better in the Carnival MDR. On saying that the food on RCCL was fine and we have booked another cruise with them the ports are the main attraction for us - we can fine dine at home :D

It will never show up on the "Manage My Booking Section"
It's on your paperwork, so it will be on your seapass card when you get to checkin :)
what paper work will it be on - is it on anything that I will print off from royal or only on the original invoice from the ta.
thanks for any help
-
In the same boat -but only got the select drinks offer- never came across the premium one. Only showing on my invoice from TA not not Royal web. I will leave it until before final payment then chase it up if it has not appeared.

It is different for us in the uk- dealing directly with RCCL means phoning a call center in Guatemala - and they are a nightmare to deal with - and get every thing wrong - My last direct booking cost me $165 and hours in calls to sort out all the problems they created - wrong names & dob, lost OBC - wrong price on 2nd invoice, deposit missing - In the end I got a persons name off this forum and had to email him to help sort out the price and missing OBC - he also compensated me for call costs after I sent a copy of my phone bill. His reason for all the problems was that the computer system was new and the booking business had newly been transferred to Guatemala. Thus I will never ever book direct again.
-
Call RCI and book this directly with them....they will have the certificate on file under your passenger information and the certificate #...If you then want to transfer the booking to a TA you will have a timeframe to do so....I personally would not and own your own booking.
Note no transfers to TA allowed on UK bookings

It cannot be used on line with RCCL we just used our on the phone with a major on line travel agent. But they had to put our cabin on hold and it took 2 day to confirm the new price (not the full value of the cert against the agents original price as the agents price included a discount over RCCL on line price which was a % of total costs and this discount is not given on the cert part of the price). I have had too many issues on the phone with RCCL thus used the agent (also cheaper)

Only if you're planning to get pregnant soon. Also, Zika has some confirmed cases of blood transmission. So, both of you need to take precautions. The big problem is a huge percentage of people that get it don't have symptoms.
I don't know if the birth defects happen if you contract it while pregnant, or have had it in the past.
Check w/ doctor.
The worry about past infections is that they are not sure if this virus has the potential to lie dormant or hide in some organs (ie chickenpox - re-emerging as shingles (rough antidote - as not the same type of virus) then re-attack if pregnant in future. (Due to the type of virus this would be thought of as unlikely but needs to be ruled out). The latest evidence seems to support the link, as it is now know that the virus crosses the placenta. Also researchers have now re-looked at data from some of the previous outbreaks and now are able to confirm that the birth defect rate of microcephaly did in fact rise (It was missed at the time as the out breaks were much smaller.). We have re planned our Xmas hols as I am not willing to take my girls (one 23) into these areas until more is known. (Now have been advised not to go for me too as I take immuno-suppressant drugs but we had already decided against it for my girls ). To put this in context before some shout scaremongering , my back ground is + 20 yrs in drug/medical research.

lots of info on the internet - I would only worry if
a. GF is pregnant or if either of plan children within next year or so
b. Either of you is immuno compromised- new guidleines in UK have just been issued for advise to those in this category (I read them yesterday - As I am in that group) .
At this point in time not enough is fully know about this virus that is why there is a time of 2 years being put against the gap of visit to these areas and pregnancy - It is not that there is a time that is definitely safe or unsafe - It is that they do not know - The 2 years spoken about is to give a stop gap to find that relevant info out.

or next cruise they were older one was turning 18 the other graduating we bought 2 photo frames which had 3 diff shapes for pictures -in the outside 2 my DH drew pictures (he is very arty) of places we would visit on the cruise and of the old Tuscan villa we would stay in then in the center one we made a collage of the ship and the itinerary. the 3 frames came mounted on a rectangle base to which we placed small metal plaques with engraving of which each was celebrating - they opened them on the 18th b.day (3 weeks ahead of the eldest graduation) - good may to surprise and also a great keep sake

On our 1st cruise we carried out a treasure hunt on xmas day - all clues linked into a cruise some way (films etc) and the end point was a cruise ship xmas decoration. I suppose you could do an Easter one each small egg could have a different clue to the next egg but be linked to sea/ships -
ie clue 1 to take them to one small egg attached to a dvd of prates of caribeen and clue 2.
clue 2 to the bathroom and have small egg floating in a toy boat and clue 3
so on and so on
until the final clue takes them to lager eggs sitting on a ships wheel (could be made out of cardboard) and be placed in the steering wheel of the car so clue would take them there. and a big blow up picture of the ship.

Many moons ago individual states set the drinking age in the US, Then the Feds changed it to 18 for all states and the children went out and began killing themselves and others with irresponsible drinking and driving. So the feds changed it to 21. Privileges can be abused and lost as was this age thingy.
On board ship they can't drive drunk but they can and do fall overboard doing dumb things. If one "needs" an adult beverage before they are of legal age one might consider that to be a problem in the making.
before you accuse people of "being problems in the making" - remember that in other countries 18yrs IS an adult and it is quite acceptable for them to drink in these countries in moderation in the same way as is it in the USA at 21yrs.
-
The cruise was 10 years ago
she won't have a problem now then as they will definitely be of age !!- lol

We're on the Voyager out of Barcelona next month, My sister and DH are with us along with their daughter & friend (both 19 years) They are not big drinkers but enjoy a glass of wine,
Q1. the drinking laws in the UK are 18 years which is the same for most of of Europe, Which applies on this cruise US or European legislation?
Q2. If US legislation applies based on jetladys quote, how do we get a waiver for her friend
You will not have any issues the age is 18yrs on cruises leaving europe ports (as long as not transatlantic ones). Had both girls last year 18 and 22 either could buy at the any bar (sent them for my drinks a few times :)

still mandatory if a uk booking

In san Juan it seemed you could bring on whatever you wanted. We tried to delcare a couple of bottles of stuff we were bring home as a gift and were told just to take it on the ship - Canival cruise- So we got alcohol on that we didn't even want to drink- just our luck :D
-
Just to let you know mine is a UK one - I got sent the small print through in the post ( which is the info I put in above)
-
The one I had was cruise only - not taxes or travel - It also was not allowed on inaugural cruises or over main holidays (ours was also for problems on board)

Can you recall the name of the company you used for the Naples tour - thank you

Hi I was on her last Aug and if you click on my name you will find a post in which I compare it with the only other 2 cruises I had been on and sort of do a mini review at the same time. I did not find the ship run down in any way, in fact I thought she was lovely and also had no problems with service using my drinks package- I did have issues on the ship but they were in the main due to a room change before cruising. The only things I felt lacking were the food in the MDR (but I eat gluten free so it was may be that the choices for me were not so good) and the entertainment in the main theater was quite poor - my daughter school shows have been far better lol and at the ship is dead by 12pm (at least in Europe - not a bad thing for us but may be for younger cruises)
can you try for a different guarantee cabin if booked in UK
in Royal Caribbean International

they would not put us back in last aug - phoned several times
