  1. Has anyone been in this family inside 4479- If so what is it like for 4 adults. How much space , wave noise and noise at docking. I found some really old photos of this room but have the spirit rooms had a revamp recently.

Also can the materess be removed from the bunk above the double bed and placed on the ground below the other bunk (one dd has medical issues which means we may easy access to her in the night) or can we request a roll away.

Does it have a fridge- if not can we request one as we meds that need to stay cool.

Docking time on the med cruise. I have read that docking will be noisy in this cabin- that's OK as long as we dock after 6am (its port intensive any we will be up and out to see as much as possible- I can see the happy teen face of dd in my mind already ;)) - can anyone tell me the actual arrival times in port

    Thanks

  2. In the new OV panorama view cabins- what and where is the 4th bed is it a double pull out sofa bed or is there a pullman if where is it - above the double or above the sofa bed.

Is there space to store a fold down wheel chair if 4 adults are in the cabin.

We are looking at the Rhapsody if the actual ship makes a difference

    Thanks

  3. Ok trying to plan a family cruise for next Aug- there will be 4 adults in one cabin.

At the moment we have a choice of booking OV 2102 on deck two which is a wheelchair accessible cabin or instead going for the new panoramic cabins.

I can walk (with help) about the cabin if we choose not to take the accessible one but will still need enough space to put my wheelchair somewhere. Is there enough space in the panoramic cabins to do this. Also can I request shower seat to use in normal cabin.

Our eldest daughter is quite claustrophobic and this will be the fist time she will cruise without a balcony- so if we choose the accessible cabin do they feel dark and closed in (this is a bigger issue than it may sound and the reason I am trying to find out if I can manage in the panoramic room)

  4. I am switching to this cruise as the ones I wanted that were full were Caribbean cruises just for DH and I. As a result we are now completely changing our plans and instead of a grown up break we are now taking our daughter as the new cruise we are looking at now goes to places she really wants to visit . However, our budget unfortunately remains the same - thus our first inside

It will be DH and I the next time - and I will book it very early!

  5. Please does anyone have info or pictures of these cabins. I have just tried to book a few cruises for next October but have had no luck on getting the ocean view/ balcony adapted rooms I would have liked - I didn't realize that the adapted rooms sell out so fast. So I am now looking at an internal room (never been in one before). I need grab rails in the shower and at the toilet. Also enough space to put my wheelchair somewhere without blocking my husband and daughter in or out of the the cabin. I would like to see the size of these rooms as I am a little claustrophobic and worried about no window or balcony.

Next time I know to book as soon as the cabins are released.

    Thanks.

  6. we are looking at doing the same to go on the infinity on the 27th of October. The distance isn't an issue for us as we usually have to drive that to get to any airport that would do the flight with out stops. Also last year we met family in west palm beach for lunch while staying in Orlando.

But car hire is quite pricey in Florida (compared to the EU). How much is the bus?

  7. I agree there is no justification for the lack of hand washing. However, I expect that most bugs and viruses are picked up in pools and tubs or off the sunbeds after others have used them post being in the pool. I am on long term immuno suppressants and I am under doctors instructions not to go into pools or tubs. Also to only eat the cooked in front of me food from buffets. Oh and to try and never use the public toilets - so its long treks back to to the cabin for me :o.

  8. I gave you my opinion on the RCI board. I am early 50's and now prefer Celebrity over RCI. Regardless of cruise line, in most cases the longer the cruise the older the crowd. Celebrity is not HAL.;)

Being a cruise novice is Hal a cruise for oldies. They are usually the cheapest option for us, but when I looked them up on youtube and review sites they seemed a bit sedate for us.

  9. OK we are trying to decide between Celebrity Infinity - st croix - st barts- san Juan- Haiti or RCI Vision- Haiti- Curacao- Aruba-Cayman.

We are a couple in our mid 40's and have only cruised twice before on Carnival

The legend - new year with our dd's 15yr and 20yrs. ( chosen as dates suited school hols and we could get to get to cayman to see my new born nice:))

The Valor - just me and my DH (chosen last minute as our planned holiday got canceled and need to fit already booked holiday dates and budget)

    What we enjoyed on carnival

The vibe on the cruise from San Juan- watching all the people salsa dancing and the atmosphere they created.

I thought the gluten free food on the Valor was great no so good on the legend

The Service was good on in the MDR on the Valor

Shows were mixed - some good some dire

Our girls loved the legend esp the teen club for my youngest (although I had to wonder about some of the parents who seemed to both hardly see their children and also allowed them to roam un-escorted day and NIGHT!)

    What we disliked-

Some of the music on deck especially on the legend- and the volume or should I say VOLUME !!

The silly games/ entertainment on the pool deck- not for us at all! - Butlins at sea!!

The comedy show- We mistakenly went to an adults show thinking that at worst it would be a little risky - I walked out - it was racist and disgusting.

The most important aspects to us

Food- quality, pretension also gluten free food options

Shows- professional type stuff - not Haven or Butlins.

Atmosphere- don't want spring break stuff but also want fun and good vibe

Which would suit best- both are the same price but the celebrity includes the drinks package in that price-thanks for any help.

  11. We have just booked our cruise for next Easter, the package we booked included a free "cheers package" do you know if MSC will allow us to upgrade to the Allegrissimmo package. We had this package last year and it suited us really well.

Has any one done this already

    Thanks

did you find out the answer to this

  12. CCL doesn't really do special order/customer service MDR anymore. We had a great maitreD last year on the Conquest that helped us with our Gluten Free requests the night before, but this year on the Dream, it never happened and not only did we not get special requests, we just didn't even get the normal orders right. CCL is really turning more into a value service one-size-fits-all style operation, not special service like most of us decades long cruisers remember the industry used to be. Thankfully, other cruise lines absolute excel in this regard. Perhaps its time to move on.

I had the exact opposite experience last xmas the legend was just OK wrt my gluten free MDR meals, however the valor a few weeks ago was fantastic. The hostess and waiters were fantastic, and the service I got was better than I have received even in 5 star hotel

  13. I had mine sent to my room last week- I didn't even ask for it they offered. My DH went to the dining room to cancel my special order and get the menu so that I could choose for the next day (need to do this due to gluten free requirement). I had been out all day and due to health issues I was way to tired to try and get ready for dinner, so was just going to get dh to grab a gf free pizza for me. They offered to plate up my meal - all 3 courses and my DH brought it back, I was go glad as it was the best meal of my cruise. I am not going to say which ship/ hostess now in case it leads to trouble for them if the policy had changed.

  14. I am guessing allergies or diet needs ?

No my main issue was that I am on medication that can make me feel quite sick in the evening so I would have preferred ytd so that if I was feeling ill early than I could wait a while before going to diner. Or failing that I requested a table for 2 in any sitting so that if I sat down then felt a bit ill then I could just leave the table without feeling rude towards any others still eating. I offered to send my chemo script to special needs but they still wanted the docs letter so I just gave up on them. (my doc has been amazing to my family over the last few years so there was no way I was going to get him involved in something as petty as my dinning on holiday- I'm just glad he okay-ed the trip if I see him again he might change his mind:D)

The buffet is actually nice during dinner when everyone else is in the MDR

Hopefully- I sure I will gave a great trip regardless of where I end up eating - I'm more worried about the weather at the moment.
  15. the maitre-d never replied to me and I have a very good reason for my request, I then tried the special needs department and they got back to me but wanted a doctors letter. I have had my doc write letters many important things for me - insurance , blue badge, health care, adaptions for my home etc so there was no way I was about to bother him for a dining request.

In the end I have contacted JH and he has forwarded the request to the MD. If that fails we will pay the MD a visit at the time posted in the fun times- And if all fails will probably eat quite a few of our meals at the buffet. I will know soon so will post back on here after my cruise.

  16. I really liked St. Kitts. We did take an island tour, then got dropped off at the beach. We saw the Brimestone Fort, Caribelle Batik, Timothy Hill, we even drove past the vet college that a lot of American kids go to school - and we saw a lot of them at Shipwreck Beach (where we were dropped off at after the tour).

St. Kitts has a lot to offer, there are a number of other things you can do on the island too, even take a trip over to Nevis. We would love to go back.

which tour did you do- we are trying to plan for a few weeks time- thank you for any help.

  17. more please! more please!- this is the best review ever!! -I am actually waiting to see what you got up to in St Kitts before I plan my day there!!!- we go in a few weeks.

I haven't booked the jailhouse break- I booked the land and see with the ship (its only our 2nd ever cruise and I was worried about going away for such a long day on an independent trip) but I am now wishing I had book spencers trip.

We can't wait to go and your review it getting us soooo exited - your photos are amazing. My DH who never usually bothers to look at what I am planning - he just goes with the flow -kept asking last night if you had written about St Kitts yet.

  18. I am enjoying this review so much- I keep checking on it all day to see if you have written any more. I can't wait for St Lucia and esp st kits (as we don't know what to do there). We were planning a our in St Thomas but after your review we may just do Sapphire beach- was it easy to get a taxi there and especially back. In Barbados was there anyway onto the beach at the hilton without going through the Hilton hotel (as all beaches in Barbados are public ones) we will be touring about so will only spend a 1/2hr or so on the beach so do not want to pay of a day pass.

  19. You are missing the point, with the 100% guarantee, Carnival would officially release you paper work wise to customs, meaning they would allow you to leave, by just leaving the ship at Aruba, they would not give the release. I can't chance that, without a definitive letter in hand showing permission.

I am not suggesting just leave that would be crazy, I said get legal advice if carnival will not discuss/help !!!- what we were trying to say -is go back and discuss with carnival again as they CANNOT change terms and conditions after you book- that is the law. If they have changed their working practice and introduced a new contract, you are entitled to any out of pocket expenses that their change has created, or they must make an exception for you (you would get that in writing of course).

Leaving the ship CAN be done but does not suit them as it creates work, fine for future bookings but must not be applied retrospectively without consultation and recompense where required.

  20. Ridiculous...shameful advice. Sounds like issue is solved. Fyi in Aruba they have US customs...when you enter the country at the airport you fill out an Aruba entry form that is matched up when you leave...have spent many months vacationing there over a dozen times and find customs there to be very thorough.

What you are saying has no link to the fact that the cruise contract they signed up for has changed after they bought their cruise. This is not allowed by law!!! If they had already looked into leaving and it was allowed when they booked no company can change the booking conditions after you book. If they could then they would be free to do what they want.

Shameful how exactly - I would not like to be in the position of buying things and then conditions linked to the purchase being changed. If those changes meant I was out of pocket then yes I would do something about it.
