  1. If your cruise is entirely within EU then any purchases during cruise are liable to be taxed. Sailing from Barcelona you will pay IVA (Spanish Value Added Tax) where appropriate. Also ship will not sell "duty free" bottles of alcohol.
  2. Edge class ships have an outlet box with 2 USB, 2 US and 1 EU outlet. USB outlet on one side of bed too.
  3. We were on Edge in August. We ate in 3 of the MDRs. We found plenty of choice across each MDRs menus. Each MDR has its own set mains, plus the daily 'specials' and the standard mains, giving a wide range of dishes. Food quality was good, portions appropriate for a multi-course meal and service excellent.
  4. If you just go to the MDR of your choice they will either seat you straightaway or give you a pager. On Edge we often asked the hostess on the way out to reserve a table for us next evening.
  5. Walk up and wait will work but the wait may be lengthy, depending when you want to dine. Early (1800) or laret (2100) should be fine. In August on Edge staff were giving out pagers to those without reservations at peak times (1930 - 2030)
  6. At departure points with large numbers of check in desks it should not be an issue.
  7. I was on Edge a month ago. Ther MDRs have a few tables that can take 12, although you should get in quick to reserve them. Any of the MDRs will serve you any dish from any of the others on request. The "special" mains in each MDR do not change. The menu is in 3 parts: * the special dishes for that specific MDR * the standard dishes always available (salmon, NY strip steak....) * a few different dishes each night (same in each MDR) Enjoy your cruise.
  8. We were on EDGE in August. We found the choices across the 4 MDRs to be very good, as was the food quality. Service was excellent. We also loked the Cruise Director, who was very engaging. It's all a matter of opinions.
  9. We were on Edge in August. We ate in 3 of the MDRs. We enjoyed every meal. There was plenty of choice and the meals were of a good quality. Service was always excellent. We are looking forward to Apex in February.
  10. So, not the original one? 🙂

  12. Why stop there? Those with balconies, those with windows, those with inside cabins, those with drinks packages....... We could have dozens of fora 🙂
  13. They were always available on Edge a few weeks ago.
  14. We were on Edge at start of August. We ate in MDRs every night. We found there to be plenty of options and we usually had two or three dishes we were very keen on. Each MRD had 3 or 4 special starters, mains and desserts plus the permanent standbys and other choices, so there were over a dozen different options for each course. We never went hungry!
  15. August is peak holiday season for many European countries. It's not surprising there are families with children on cruises at that time.
  16. Yes, you can. Earlier this month we were on Edge, dining mainly in Normandie. Our waiter, Isacc, regularly brought us an "additional" dish from one of the other MDRs to sample.
  17. Drop the top pane of the window down and close the bi-fold doors. You then have a balcony. We liked the IV on Edge. We had breakfast there some mornings, with window down if appropriate. with window closed and bi-fold doors open it adds a lot of space to the room. Air con goes off with window down but IIRC same thing happens when you open balcony door in normal balcony cabin.
  18. We were on Edge in Mediterranean. Disembarking in Civitaveccia. We paid for a late departure, which allows you to remain on board until 3pm. It is sold as an “excursion”. You swap your sea pass and passport for a lanyard card. When disembarking you get sea pass and passport returned. Still out of cabin by 7:30am but get access to soft drinks and food until departure. Only available in some ports. It suited us as we had a 5:30pm flight, so we left ship around 1:30pm.
  19. We used the showers in the spa on Edge on our last day (we bought the "stay on board until 3pm" deal). Towels, shampoo and shower gel provided. Lockers too.
  20. Just off Edge. Saw tables with 10 and 12 guests many nights.
  21. This is a trend across all social media and many news platforms. "Bad news travels fast". I'll make two comments: 1 I still get some benefit from this forum, although I have to filter through what I consider 'trivial' matters. Generally when I've asked for specific information , it's been forthcoming. 2 I'm just back from my first Celebrity cruise since before Covid. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The restaurants were very good. Edge was amazing and staff very helpful. I'm looking forward to my next Celebrity cruise in 2024.
  22. We disembarked Edge on 19 August. We had a Concierge class IV cabin. We got chocolates left every night and canapés every afternoon without asking.
  23. Buffet on Edge a few weeks ago was good: plenty variety to choose from. If you are referring to "brunch" when Celebrity would lay on a massive buffet one day, with ice carvings and show cooking, that was ditched many, many years ago.
