  1. Have you any details to back this up? I’m booked in Feb 23. My holiday dropped by £1000. Also, I had £360 OBC and P& O added another £150 in October but new bookers get £650 OBC P&O insisted I cancel and rebook to make a saving. So I lost my deposit.
  2. We cruised from Brooklyn in September. Boarding was available from 11am.
  3. one of the contributors to this thread is getting a refund on a cruise in April on Arvia.
  4. We are on Arvia in Feb in Carribean. We had booked over a year ago. Price dropped by £1000 and OBC increased to £650. P&O said only recourse was to cancel and rebook. I did that (lost £343 deposit). I'm not happy that P&O are giving refunds to some and not others.
  5. I am interested in this as I'm on Arvia in Feb and P&O told me to cancel and rebook to get savings! Could you show the relevant bit of email (without any personal info)? Thanks
  6. Are P&O proactively giving partial refunds to early bookers where fare have dropped? I'm interested in this as P&O told me to cancel, lose my deposit and rebook, which I did and saved £800.
  7. My Caribbean cruise on Arvia in Frbruary 23 is now £1000 cheaper and comes with £650 OBC P&O and TA both say ony option is to cancel and re-book. Disappointing that P&O seem to be giving retrospective discounts on Arvia's maiden voyage.
  8. The Medallion has great potential but is let down badly by poor conectivity on the ship and by a slow back-end IT system. I found connectivity patchy throughout the ship. Waiters had similar problems. In days gone by a waiter could remember my order or write it down and head off to collect my drinks. Now he or she can wait an age to get connectivity for their handheld device, scan my Medallion then scroll through to order drinks. Same if ordering at a bar. Once served the waiter is scrolling through hundreds of drinks at the till to select the ones I ordered. There appear to be two problems - firstly poor wifi connectivity lets everyone down, secondly the back-end seems badly designed for fast service. Should the staff devices not be on a separate wifi network? I wonder how much testing it went through, particularly volume testing? Also is there a back up, beyong pen and paper? My impression is that the App slows down the waiters.
  9. The original poster is correct. There are several Commonwealth countries where the Queen was not head of state. India and South Africa are republics, as are several Caribbean nations.
  10. Princess are saying Greece requires a test administered and certified in presence of testing staff. Where it gets confusing is that UK gov says no testing needed to visit Greece and Greek government say no testing needed https://travel.gov.gr/#/ Princess needs to clarify.
  11. We are embarking on a cruise from Brooklyn after flying in from Scotland. Can anyone recommend where we can get observed Covid Antigen tests in NYC. We are not US citizens and so don't have US-style medical insurance (We do have travel insurance!).
  12. We are flying in to EWR from Edinburgh a few days before the cruise, giving us time to explore NY. After cruise we have an evening flight home so we have booked a Princess tour which drops us at EWR mid-afternoon.
  13. I found this in another site. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/12whWAkXXP7K8Al6zWXT09134H-8PwZdr?fbclid=IwAR0oT5kdD8DHNbseXj1oGUfiZzJJnTaaQ7BuPpQn2w3wORZqBbVBHoxY1Ww Malbec available in MDR
  14. I appreciate what you say. However my post was intended to be about booking a holiday before you were aware of any changes incircumstances, then finding that insurer cancels when informed of subsequent changes in circumstances. The Financial Ombudsman Service has considrered this and states: "If your insurer withdraws cover entirely, we’d expect them to offer to cover the costs of cancelling any holiday which was due to be taken during the policy year. Even if cancellation isn’t medically necessary at that point, we think this is the fair and reasonable thing for insurers to do."
  15. Why would they cancel your policy? Is it an annual policy and circumstances had changed at renewal but after cruise booked and company declined to provide cover for coming year? If so there may be a get out if, when the cruise was booked the insured were not aware of any adverse circumstances.
  16. Yes, you no longer need a certificate ton show the negative result. From 24 July they accept your word regarding negative Covid test, just as they have always done with the health questionnaire.
  17. P&O are impementing something akin to this from 24 July.
  18. From P&O "Testing requirements For holidays from 24 July 2022 Unless otherwise communicated, all guests aged five years and over must take a lateral flow/antigen test within two days prior to embarkation of the ship. This can be at any time in the two days before or on the day of embarkation. Guests will be asked to confirm the test has been taken, with a negative result, as part of the pre-boarding health declaration at the cruise terminal/airport. Guests under five years of age are exempt from pre-travel testing." Until recently P&O required a certificate to confirm a negative antigen test. From 24 July they will just ask you to confirm you have done a test.
  19. You can book a test at the terminal from 10 days before boarding for $60. In addition if you have taken a "2 days before" test and not got results back, Princess will give you a free tst at the dock.
  20. I’m on Azura next week and we have booked all the shows we want to see. Cannot book speciality dining, can only book on ship.
  21. We have cabins near this in few weeks time and are not being moved. When we cruised in April all aft cabins (701 up) were reserved for quarantine but now it’s only on some decks, not B. However things can change.
  22. Is MDR busy for dinner? How is the P&O booking app working for tables?
  23. If you sail from Southampton, probably not as you won’t be asked for you passport at any port in EU. However if you fly to an EU country to embark, you will need one.
