Hi
Now that airborne droplet transmission has been proved it would not be safe to continue with that arrangement (My thoughts) .... but who can tell

How do you handle Visas? Not every passenger can easily transport through every country. Just a thought.
I think they could be fast tracked back to the port of embarkation which I think was Singapore and that is not yet on a do not travel alert

The report also states:
"Close contacts of the infected passengers are asked to remain in quarantine for 14 days from last contact with a confirmed case. Thus, the quarantine period will be extended beyond the 19 February as appropriate only for close contacts of newly confirmed cases."
This is good news for most passengers. However, it looks like folks sharing cabins with those people who recently tested positive will have their quarantine extended.
I doubt that Practique would be granted until the entire ship was clear .. so all on board will have to wait until the last case is clear

The issue with the Westerdam is not only finding a port but finding a safe port that would allow for safe transport to home countries.
Turn her round and take her into Sydney Australia, she should be well past the quarantine period on arrival

Hi Folks
Just a word on quarantine its not there to protect those on the ship , but to protect those on shore from getting what is on the ship.. be clear about this there is no way that they can totally stop spread of infection on the ship..In the days of the Black Death a plague ship would be cast of to drift until all on her were dead and then the ship would be destroyed by fire
This is of coarse all good fun I dont expect Diamond Princess to go up in smoke but those on board her will have to wait until at least 15 days after the last case of infection , this could turn out to be a long wait.
Australia and New Zealand appear to be safe at the moment so I suggest holidays down under would be ok

Thanks very much ... sorry everything dried up had some drug issues also came down with head cold and chest infection
Arrived home very tired Qantas having one of their days ..over all we enjoyed our cruise some small niggles mainly food issues the ship needs a new baker and a chef that serves margarine in a fine dining area needs to think again
More later when feeling better

Thanks for sharing your cruise on the MS Maasdam. We have sailed her several times and are anxiously awaiting 84 more days on her starting in January 2021.
We last sailed on her last spring from Auckland to San Francisco and her crew still exceeds the “Standard Of Excellence.”
Your live reports have been very appreciated.Thank you.
Happy Holidays!

Not going ashore here isle du expensive de frog. And to be honest a bit too much oh a risk being steep steps wet with rain and sea spray. Too large a fall risk for the mobility challanged despite crews best efforts

Zodiac Questions: how many ports have Zodiac excursions, what is the cost, do you land on the islands, are landings dry or wet?
We have done Zodiac excursions in the Galapagos islands off Silver Galapagos, great experience and adventure.
Your comments are appreciated.
Thank you
I will have to ask Kaye the cruise director fot that info ///stand bye

Hi Folks
BTW We were on board MAASDAM prior to Christmas when she was refused Practique in Fiji due to the outbreak of measles in the pacific ,, that was" great fun" when only Golden Oldies were allowed on shore
