  1. I am beginning to loose it it seems the whole world is against cruise ships , well perhaps its time for LINERS to come back . many airlines are going to fail and there nay not be so many cheap fares about and there may be a shortage of capacity also ... so the trans Atlantic , Trans Pacific and Kangaroo Routes may stand a chance with a liner service

Nothing like the grand days of course but 3 or 4 sailings a year

Oh well .... I am so peeved with the outright stupidity of those who have no knowledge of ships or shipping , who are just lashing out at the first large white ship they see

Better stop now before I get upset

  2. Hi Folks

After we find "The Cure" for the virus it will take time to spread the cure around the world , it will take a great deal of time before some nation states allow cruise ships in their waters ... I think we all must prepare for the news of a number of cruise lines going broke .  Fred Olsen , Saga , just a couple that spring to mind ....any other candidates you can think of??

    Regards

  3. Under the OZ Flag .... well I suppose there is TT Line (Spirit of TAZ)  perhaps we can all get together and do a round trip when things get a little better , a sort of goodbye to cursing cruise , yep I like the idea a good meal and then a long session in the bar , a walk around the dock in Devonport and back in the bar to Melb...

The Cruise Critic OZ branch farewell cruise

Most refits and dry docks would be scaled right back as well.

    Hi Mic

Well no one is going to want to linger in a far east yard are they ??

Even worse the Italian yards are not a good idea

so where are we going to see 3 or 4 large ships laid up for a couple of years

Genoa ???? where they first docked the costa concordia would hold a few ships

    Thank you David.

Always hoped our paths would cross again on a cruise.

Alas it is not to be so.

We have very fond memories of our 2010 Diamond Princess at Christmas.

    Stay safe.

Our thoughts are with you and your partner.

    Margaret and Peter

    Hope you are all ok

    Best regards

John, I'm sorry you are in so much pain. I hope it settles for you. I'm the one who goes out to buy food and my husband goes to the pharmacy if needed.

    Leigh

Thanks Leigh ....dont worry too much sometimes it helps to verbalize against the pain , force it back into its box so to speak.. I;m used to it I having had this for 5 years or so now....the main problem is that many doctors just dont listen ...my lady doctor is quite good but a bit loath to give me too many opoids  a policy I agree with

Hmmm I wonder if there will be any real cheap cruise ships on the market ??? (Grin)

I did some food shopping early yesterday morning and forgot bread. I had a small amount in the freezer so wasn't too fussed. Late this morning, son phoned to ask was there anything we needed while he was out shopping for his family. I asked if he could buy a loaf of for us which he did and dropped it off a while ago. He was amazed at how many older couples were out shopping. By older he meant over 60, he said they were just wandering around and stopping to chat to friends. No social distancing! So much for just one member of a couple/family going out to buy supplies and returning home as soon as possible.

    Oh dear

I sent the VIP'er out to do our shopping , Elsie and I are confined to the household on the Quacks orders.. we are fine  just about our only issue is my pain control or lack of it ,, I'm taking far too many painkillers ..but its either that or call the ambo's get pumped full of morphine and spend 8 hours in casualty (not a good idea at the moment)

Oh dear and even looking at cruise brochures makes me depressed.......just cast me away on a desert Island ,,,,

  8. Hi Folks

Things are not so good with me, I have nasty pain which my cocktail of pain killers is not doing much to shift...oh dear back t the quack on Monday because of an open wound on my leg, darn thing just wont heal up ...

No cruise therapy to help and none likely for years to come now our cruise ship hating government has kicked its first ship out , no all the public will remember is RUBY PRINCESS PLAGUE SHIPS and  it will be a very long time until we cruise again

It used to be that a good look round some deck plans would help me .... Darn you Darned virus!!

BTW  one of my Issues is D.I.S.H  ......(a bad back)

Kicked out  what a disgrace have they no compassion for the crews of these ships , away from their homes and loved ones and just kicked in the guts.

Well its the end of cruising as we knew it, things have got to change ..

A Fair deal and a fair days pay for the crew .....tipping needs to be banned

The problem is there are 9,000 crew on these ships.  If these people all get ill, Australia's medical would crash.  Australia is already doing modelling of best practice to handle Australians in our existing medical system, if the ***** hits the fan, with too many ill people.  That is why the Government is combining Private and Public Hospitals and staffing, to best manage handling the situation of high volume, trying not to be overwhelmed.  When Intensive Care gets overwhelmed, people die!

I don't like the cruise industry shifting their responsibility of looking after their own staff on to our State and Federal Governments.  Have they offered to pay?  Australia is already taking off ill crew to care for them.  Do they want to stay so long Australia has to change its focus from looking after Australians to looking after foreign ships crew - that is not fair to Australians.  Australians are already paying a high price with the majority of people tested positive being from cruise ships (and people from overseas, inc returning Aussies).

The issues of FOC and Multinational crews is going to close down cruising in Australia for the foreseeable future, ,,, I dont see an answer , Australia is not going to allow :"Foreign" ships to operate in its waters
