  1. Weirdly, when booking Saga states the you must have a UK passport. You don't have to. At least not if, like me, you're Irish. (And, yes, I did ring them to make sure!)
  2. Loungers on the jogging track? Sounds like ad hoc steeplechase to me.
  3. She's a beauty, Terry. Lucky new owner. And lucky dog to have found you.
  4. In the UK that would mean something very different...
  5. I've just reread this thread because we too have been upgraded from standard to deluxe for our Fjords cruise starting a week today. The news came in the form of a letter. We also felt concerned at the position near the lifts but the above posts are reassuring. I must admit that we are very pleased, indeed delighted, to get this upgrade especially as this will be only our 2nd Saga cruise but with another booked for next year. Happy days.
  6. Of course in Ireland they drive on the left but some years ago it was suggested they should drive on the right like the rest of Europe. This meant a complete change of driving side for all road vehicles. However, so as not to have the big change all at once it was proposed that all cars start driving on the right from 1 May but heavy vehicles didn't have to switch until 1 June.
  7. Replace the words kids with adults and that sentence still works.
  8. Kids are great. But I couldn't eat a whole one.
  9. Mysty really does seem to have a great restaurant on tap. And a World Cruise too? Mysty - will you adopt me?

Plus the hot stone is a very effective method of drying socks.
  11. Matched with fairisle tank top, khaki shorts and wellies?
  12. Nope. Gonna need more than that.
  13. Les is a Brit. You'll need to explain what "sun" is.
  14. We'll....you know my feelings on these people. It would be a shame if someone spilled something sticky on their belongings. Accidentally, of course.
  15. I tell you what: he wouldn't stand for people reserving a lounger with a book and sunglasses.
  16. Phew. Standards have slipped at the Captain's table.
  17. You don't want to have to walk too far to the exercise facility. 😎
  18. I thought it was 4200 per tent not per person. At 4200 I'd say it's worth the blow-out but not at 8400. We stayed at the Park Hyatt. Totally unbeatable location: https://www.hyatt.com/en-US/hotel/australia/park-hyatt-sydney/sydph Shame you can't go with your partner. Australia is made for sharing!
  19. Every bit. We had 2 nights there 15 years ago. It was the highlight of our holiday of a lifetime.
  20. You're probably on top of all this already, but if you are looking at where to stay at Uluru then take a look at: https://longitude131.com.au/ It's amazing.
  21. You might be pleasantly surprised. I always have a bottle on each cruise and, so far, every one has been excellent - complex notes, sweet (but not the cloying sugariness of cheap Sauternes, say) but with a distinct, almost citrus, tang. I'd also add that the sommeliers have always ensured the open bottle is properly stored. I drink very little alcohol so a 375cl bottle lasts 5 nights. Sadly, dessert wines, at least here in the UK, have a tendency to be syrupy and therefore often an ignored treasure. A good Eiswein or Tokaji will hold its own against d'Yquem - as you alluded, however, it's finding a good one that's difficult. (Incidentally, in my opinion, the Tokaji and Chateau d'Yquem on the SS connoisseur's list are a bargain. Well under retail.)
