  1. I'm just wondering which excursion would be best to do in this port? We want to see Dunns River Falls but there's not one for just that. Can anyone recommend a good excursion with this included? Thanks you. We are sailing May 11, 2013. Just me and my husband.

Dont know if you got a good answer but If you book thru Moby Dick Tours they have the cheapest ( I think) and best Dunns River falls adventure. You also get a great lunch with all the Red stripe beer you can drink! Good ppl, Mark is awesome and his Guide is great. Ive went with them on several excursions.

  2. So, we are booked on the Breeze in a couple weeks with my parents. Today my stepdad had a heart attack and was urged not to go anymore. No one has insurance since we did not see this coming. Since we are so close to leaving, is there anything that can be done for my parents to get money back or credit for another trip at a later date or whatever??? Clearly we should have had insurance but do not so would like other helpful answers if anyone has one other than "should have gotten insurance" Thanks:)

It never hurts to call and ask, and ppl don't think that insurance is insurance against the impossible. I used to think the same but Dan has me convinced that anytime we travel we get it. Lesson learned here, I sure hope you can get future credit. Maybe you can get a name change for the cruise? I have no Idea. Can someone go in your dads place I mean.

  3. IT will be ok, My youngest two who are 23 and 22 Dont really like going on Vacations with me anymore, now my oldest has never been on a cruise and we are taking her for a wedding present on January 18th ! 35 days! So i always feel a lil sad that they aren't with me BUT things get so much better once your on the ship!

  4. If you are comfortable with what you paid then just delete this thread and move on with your cruise. It doesn't matter what we sday because there will be people here that would never pay for a suite.

I'm sure that the $500 is cheaper than the normal suite price so you probably got some sort of a deal. But seriously - you paid it because you wanted it. That's what matters.

Someone else will always get a better deal than you. DOn't play this silly game about how good of a deal you got.[/QU

    Better deal

  5. I don't intend this to come off as rude, genuinely, but I thought I explained that live music and nightly entertainment is important to me on a vacation. I certainly didn't love everything about Carnival, because I booked with others. And I have cruises on Celebrity as well but find that line to be a bit more "biz cas" then I want on vacation.

I listened to the RC costs more speech a million times, then I went and booked 3 RC cruises, two of them for cheaper than anything Carnival had running at the similar time/itineraries. Why should I sacrifice being entertained when I spend EVERY night at home base, so to speak, and only a few hours of a few days in port?

I really have to wonder in all these forum posts when people (not specifically aimed at you, but included) claim they don't care that this was cut, they don't care that that was cut, they don't care, it makes no difference, who cares, blah blah blah. Well then what DO you care about?

But, not to go too far off track, there have been some good suggestions made in here. I can put up with a lot of cut backs if there are some good tunes and a show to dazzle me. Carnival used to offer a great all around product and I don't feel like they do anymore. Incorporating a deck band (when there is already bandstands for them) and more shows when a theater already exists isn't like asking them to completely re-model a ship or add new infrastructure that would be costly/downtime.

I like nightlife and entertainment, nothing not to get. Someone said put the comedians in the theatre. 100% agree! Maybe a steel drummer for sail away. The DJ can waterski behind...

If Carnival were half the price of RC I'd look the other way, but they really aren't. In fact in a lot of cases they are more expensive. So even the old rules of thumb are changing.

I dont know how you got so lucky and booked with RC at the same cost as Carnival! Ive never seen anything close to balcony pricing. Right now go do a mock booking and there is a 1000 diff in prices for two ppl. That to me is a HUGE difference in pricing! Yes Ive looked at other lines BUT im a more cost cautious person So kudos to you booking cheaper with RCCL! I would love it to cruise other lines but I love Carnival also so i wouldn't give up on them

Example. RCCL 2 ppl Balcony 2585. Carnival. 2 ppl Balcony 1600.. Same itinerary

  6. I've never been on a cruise before and never been out of country, so three months ago I booked a may birthday cruise. Only princess and carnival had cruises near when I wanyed it and departed on galveston.ended up picking carnival magic and was so excited but then as months went by I hear from more and more people..even family members saying carnival is bad cruise line and should of booked princess (heard that was owned by carnival so doesn't make sense) .I understand for the price I can't expect high class but did I really make a mistake choosing carnival over princess. Or is this all over hype over that one bad cruise and the concordia. I'm on low income and just going to applebees or chilis is considered special so I am not hard to please. That being said has anyone been on carnival magic in last year or so that can tell me how it went. Is carnival really a bad line ? Should cancel my booking and book princess?

DO NOT Cancel Your cruise and have no fear. A cruise on any ship is how you make it and what you take away from it in IMO. Their will be haters of Carnival as haters of other cruise lines. The price per vacation is a deal I think you cant beat. My cruises have been Awesome even when I was sick once ( Cold) IT really is how you yourself take it. Have a wonderful time. Ive never cruised the magic but The reviews are pretty decent for the ship itself.

  7. Ok so I love Dr Seuss. Really, Im a adult but i think Kids of all ages will enjoy. Kids of all ages enjoy Disney right? Just a lil entertainment sometimes goes a long way.So.. Thats fine and dandy, ( Was hoping for a lil more tho) BUT I don't agree with the extra 5 dollar charge. That seems ridiculous tho, Carnival I mean really, We already pay for the Steak house and other specialty Restaurants and of course my um Spirits... So why that extra charge for kids??

Rethinking some things will be better for business....

  8. Thank you all for the fast Responses! Well Im gonna make sure they stay very very close to me in the ports lol! They uh lets say like to drink... alot... So do I but well this is all new to them. I know my daughter well. She can wonder off after a few .......Gonna have to get a collar and Chain for them I guess.. Kidding :o

  9. AM I the only person who cruises who likes the Red Lobster?

I like the salad. I like the Thousand Island Dressing. I like the cheese biscuits a lot. I like Walt's Favorite Shrimp. ( We live in Jax. We buy shrimp a lot, boil it with shrimp boil and enjoy. We are not Shrimp Virgins. My husband grew up in Florida. shrimping with nets and such.

Fried Shrimp. The Red Lobster does it fine IMHO.)

I like their coleslaw. Mayo based. a little sweet. I like their baked potatoes. they stay warm.

why are they always the restaurant put down? I have eaten at restaurants that are five stars. and where the food is served on a saucer sized plate. Not much food. Not that much better than any average restaurant.

At Red Lobster you get what you paid for. Real. Honest Food. Cooked well.

and I confess. I like the Olive Garden too. Their salad is great. Their chicken Pharm...really good.

I actually have to agree with you on that Amber,

And I myself don't know what all the fuss is about. Its a stupid table cloth!! as long as the tables are clean AE not sticky and the food and service is good Im a happy camper. Now I don't like Red lobster myself ( not a seafood fan but the cheese biscuits are the best ever there!!! ( Did you know Walmart sells them now to make yourself:p) Delish, As for Olive garden I love Love Love The soup and salad. So for Carnival haters and Lovers alike.. Its a piece of cloth that really doesn't change the way the food tastes! and apparently on elegant night the table cloths are back on for a more formal way of eating. Its all good! Just don't take away the WCMC EVER or the bread. please don't take away the bread! lol!

  10. I only have a dumb phone so I would be lost without the paper Fun Times. :o

On the Freedom in November we did not receive a final invoice, I found out that if you wanted a printed invoice you would have to print one out at a kiosk.

    Haha Runner!! Your to funny!

  11. I just asked this question on my Roll call but Id like to get as much info as possible.. Thanks!

My DD and SIL just got the Passport cards. This will be their first cruise. after reading about passport cards the only thing I see that is good about them is getting thru customs. Even tho I think it is the same as just a birth certificate and ID. I read that if something happens in a port ( god forbid miss the ship or get sick) the card wont work to fly back home? Is this true? Would they really be quite "screwed" ? Please say no!! has this happened to anyone or has anyone heard of this?

  12. We're on the same Carnival itinerary (different ship) with the short 7 hr stop in CM. We're busier in the other ports and wanted the same thing here - relaxation and rest on our last port day.Originally I considered this port a waste of time as the reportedly nicer, secluded spots are a drive and unless you're off the ship first thing the limited time just doesn't work for that.

So finally after much (too much:o) research we reserved with Steve at Tropicante for our February cruise. The reviews in another thread here are all extremely positive in regards to the service, food, and overall experience. And there's no cost to reserve but you would buy drinks and food there of course. His site has a ton of helpful information as well as instructions for getting to his place and a helpful video he made showing many of the other vendors he recommends.

So for us it was a no-brainer and we're all looking forward to enjoying some time at Steve's place. You may want to find something different and there are several options.

    Good luck!:)
