  1. Hi everyone

Since I've gotten some great info reguarding hotels in a previous thread. I have another question to ask.

Is it possible to just get a taxi from the Louis Armstrong airport to the Hampton Inn & Suites Hotel on Convention Center Blvd instead of using a shuttle service. If so, do they run the meters or is it a fixed price negotiated up front?

Same goes from the port after the cruise directly back to the airport?

    Any info greatly appreciated.

  2. What was the talk if you heard some from the officers.

Or was that just what he said .

    Thanks

There was an informational meeting one of the days to just tell people about the upcoming things Royal has planned in the future. Lots of slides and dates and places. But so many you couldn't keep track. Someone raised their hand and asked about the different ships and sailing dates and he said certain ship iteneraries weren's set in stone yet.

  3. DH and I have sailed the Canada/NE route twice and look forward to a third. The age may be a bit more mature, but we had a blast. May I suggest the following sites/activities... Alexander Keith brewery tour and a pub crawl in Halifax, the zip line in St John, an aerial tour in Bar Harbor, Shipyard brewery and 2 Fat Cats bakery in Portland, as well as, a quick run up to Freeport.

Sailing soon on BOS, too. Will check out the park café for you.

Thanks so much for the info. We did the zipline in Belize and loved it so maybe we can do it here and compare. I know the pubcrawl in Halifax would be a big hit with the bf as well.

  4. Was there any information from Captain/officer staff about Liberty/Navigator deployments in 2015/2016?

There was a talk about the future cruises coming but it isn't set in stone. The first officer said your best bet right now is to keep checking the website.

  5. Hi,

Thanks for posting. Sounds like you had a fantastic time. We're on Apr. 26th Liberty & staying on for TA. Did they offer the 3 drink vouchers for Diamond members?

    How was Cruise Director?

    Thanks!

    NJ :)

The cruise director was great.. we are not Diamond level so I can't answer for the drink vouchers:rolleyes:

  6. Well, you won't be. As the others have said, it is a more mature crowd and that's OK! There are always some children on every cruise, even if it's just a handful of youngsters. Brilliance is a gorgeous ship with lots of glass, and you will have a wonderful time. :)

One thing I will mention is that Brilliance has shower curtains as opposed to shower doors; if this bothers you (as it bothers me due to the smallness of the space), then I would suggest taking along a new plastic shower curtain liner and some clothespins from the dollar store. You can pin the new curtain inside the regular one and leave it there for the duration of your cruise. Your cabin steward will not move it. Just a heads up. :)

    .

Hmm good to know. My bf can be a bit ocd when it comes to his shower. I'll have to toss one in there just in case. Thanks for the info

  7. Sorry to hijack this thread...

But cant seem to find this information. Will the Park Cafe be open on embarktion day? Does anyone remember what time? We are Diamond and will probably be on by 11:00/11:30 or so if all goes well, and will opt to eat here instead of fighting the windjammer crowds if this is an option on the first day. Hoping to avoid some of the pushing and shoving and get my "roast beef" sandwhich fix.:D

    Thank you,

I'm with you in your thinking.. last thing we want is to feel like one in a heard of cattle in the Windjammer once on board;)

  8. I just booked a suprise trip on BOS from the port of Boston going to Canana for my bf's 50th birthday. I'm wondering if anyone who's done this trip recently can tell me what the 'average' age range is onboard? I've read there aren't as many kids for this itenerary, which is fine with us, but i've also read the passengers are 'older'. While we certainly have no issues with cruising with others older than ourselves, i'm mid 40's, I don't want to be the 'youngest' onboard either:rolleyes:

Also was there a club you could do some late night dancing in? I can't seem to find any info saying there is?

    Thanks,

    Any input is greatly appreciated

  9. Transportation should not be an issue if you are in the Quarter, CBD, or Garden District. Taxis are fixed rates from those locations to the cruise terminal, $7pp.

So we would be able to get a taxi from the hotel to port then back to the hotel after the trip without a problem?:)

  10. Hello all you New Orleans folks. I need some help!

We are flying into NO Feb 20th 2015 for a cruise leaving Feb 21st. I've been looking for hotels on my own (instead of the Hampton Inn which my on line cruise website offers as an extra) to see if there is something cheaper available. We didn't realize Mardi Gras was Feb 7th so it seems everything is either booked or much more in price.

Can anyone recommend a clean, safe, decently priced place to stay for one night before and one night after the cruise. Preferably one that has a shuttle to/from the hotel-pier, or close enough for a taxi ride.

Also, should we stay with places in the convention center area or can we branch out to the French Quarter as well?

Thanks in advance for you help.

  11. Thanks for the insight! We cruise next Saturday:). How was the food? What ports were you in?

Have a great time... we did the my time dining and it worked out well for us. We went to Portofino's one night and the meal was great there. We did breakfast and a lunch in the main dining room a few days and it was delicious too. You were able to order from a standard menu but there was also a buffet you could go up to if you wanted something not on the printed menu.

Even the Windjammer was decent. We eat lots of fruit and veggies and aren't incredibly picky so this was the place for some nibbles and snacks.

We went to Belize and Cozumel. We did the Aerial Trek in Belize which is 6 ziplines through the jungle. Bit of a long ride to get there, about an hour, but worth it for the fun we had.

We didn't end up doing any excursions in Cozumel, we were too tired so we just went shopping in the ports right where we docked.

All in all a fun trip and we're looking forward to our next one.

  12. Just left Liberty in Ft. Lauderdale ...what a great time!! If you are sailing her make sure not to miss the In the Air show. It is amazing. The other show Saturday Night Fever is also wonderful. Make sure to sit as close to the front of the stage as possible. Its worth getting there early.

  13. Are the other couple very good, reliable friends? If so, the Feb 2015 cruise, you might book yourself in one cabin (along with one person from the other couple). Then book on board a separate cabin for boyfriend and other person. Both cabins will get OBC. If you qualify for a C&A discount, both cabins get that, too. simply go to guest services once you board to get everybody keyed into the correct cabins. If the other couple bails out, just change names so you and BF are in one cabin while canceling the other cabin. If something keeps you and BF from sailing in 2015, the other couple can still keep one of the cabins with a simple, free name change (though they'd lose your C&A discount, if applicable, they keep the OBC for booking on board). and you might catch a price drop between now and your October cruise. Mind you, I'd only do this for a good friend or relative, not some flaky aquantenace.

Yes the other couple are two of our best friends.

I really like the idea of putting one of us with one of them. Especially since they have never cruised before.. :)

  14. Well, I fly out this evening to Ft. Lauderdale for Liberty tomorrow.

Everything has been swept, washed, emptied, remade, put away and made arrangements for.

My packing is rolled and ready. All I have to do is leave work, put my dresses in the suitcase and zip it up. If I don't have it I don't need it.

    Here's to a great vacation:D

  15. If you don't mind me asking did you get the balcony for less than what the website was showing for the price? I'm leaving April 3rd on the Liberty and the prices have dropped since I made final payment. I'm not sure if I should call and see if I can upgrade for a small fee.

I paid one price for an oceanview room and after my final payment it dropped so I called my TA. She added RC online and because it was past the final payment time frame they wouldn't give me a price adjustment or an obc, but they did offer me the upgrade to a balcony for a small fee.

Totally worth it for us. I'd say call your TA and see what he/she can do for you. Worse case scenario RC says no and you stay where you are. Good luck!

  16. Thanks for all the responses everyone.

Rignt now i'm leaning towards the on board booking for at least the trip in October. My bf told me last night another couple is interested in coming with us for the Feb 2015 trip so maybe i'll hold off on that one for now, gather the info I need and book that one while we're on the ship in October. Unless something good comes along before that and I'll just book it online.

  17. Hi all,

I've asked a few questions about booking a future cruise while on a cruise in the past and have gotten some great info. I'm needing a little help/advice again.

We're leaving this Sat on Liberty and I was seriously thinking of booking a future cruise to Canada in the fall and another one for Feb of 2015. Originally I was so psyched to do it but now that it's getting close i'm getting nervous.

I know the dates, what type of rooms and where we want them on the ships, etc and I keep telling myself I could end up getting some great deals if I keep doing my homework right up until we leave.

The little devil on my shoulder keeps telling me it's too 'risky' to book now, what if something happens, etc. All those things that keep you from taking the leap.

So I guess I need some friendly words of wisdom from those out there who've done it and whether you were glad you did or wished you had waited until you were back home. Or those who didnt and wished they had.
