  1. Update: I contacted the US Government’s Passport Agency and explained my dilemma and they think it should be fine as long as my personal information page has nothing obstructed, which it does not. To be on the safe side it was recommended that I bring my “collection” of other identifying documentation (birth certificate, marriage, divorce decree etc.). I will stash them waterproofed and backed with stiff cardboard in my carryon just in case. They also told me I can renew the passport when I come back from the cruise even though it doesn’t expire until 2026. That way my new passport will have the solid plastic personal info page, not the flimsy paper laminated one that can bend and possibly tear. I just purchased passport covers from Amazon for the future instead of my usual plastic ziploc storage. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07LG3TYJS?psc=1&smid=AH2OZ2T28MCR9&ref_=chk_typ_quicklook_seeDetailsToDp Hopefully this post will be helpful to anyone else finding themselves in this situation. Thank you for the replies!
  2. I just called MSC to check in for my 2/4 Meraviglia cruise out of Brooklyn and as I was giving the agent the passport info I noticed that the right corner of my personal info page (across the A in USA) with my photo has a crease in it. It’s not ripped. On the back of the page it looks like there’s a mark on that crease line. There’s no damage to my photo or personal information. My passport has what looks like a gold microchip on the front under “United States of America”. Is this considered a damaged passport or do you think it will pass inspection? The agent told me to bring my birth certificate and driver’s license just in case but that’s not so simple. My birth certificate has my maiden name and I’m on my second marriage; so 2 name changes. I would have to bring my birth certificate, original marriage license, divorce decree and my current marriage certificate. I have all of these but would prefer not to carry them on a cruise. I’ve attached photos of the “crease” and markings. Anyone have an experience with this type of thing or any expertise? I think it might have gotten damaged when I flew overseas to Greece last year from all the scanning and handling in customs and I just didn’t notice it until now. I cruised in July with it and there were no problems but again I can’t be completely sure when the damage occurred. Does anyone also know who checks the physical passports at the pier? I can’t remember if it’s customs or the cruise ship shoreside staff. Thanks in advance! The first photo is the first page of the passport book which is the back of the personal information page.
  3. Thank you.❤️ He passed away in February, God rest his soul. His memory remains.
  4. It did look a little bit like the Titanic but happier colors and a happier ending (lol). My parents said it was truly 5 star.
  5. My Father was a captain on Greek Line. The Queen Anna Maria. My parents met on that ship; she was a singer and he was Chief Officer or Safety Officer at the time.
  6. To each his own. We love the stuff and buy the “Simply Heinz” brand at home. No high fructose corn syrup in that one. Oh, and I also LOVE pineapple (and ham) on my pizza. The sweet and salty is divine in my opinion.
  7. I’m hoping they exceed my expectations but for the price I’m already not disappointed. I shall ask away for my ketchup!
  8. It seems like they know they’re a no frills, low cost cruise line and that’s it; you get what you get.
  9. That’s good news. I never heard of such a thing happening on a cruise ship before but of course this is our first time on MSC so I’m training myself to expect nothing from all the negative reviews I’ve been reading. This way we will be pleasantly surprised when things turn out otherwise. I’m trying to stay positive while at the same time be prepared.
  10. Say it ain’t so! I’m hearing in recent reviews that there is a lack of ketchup on board! We will bringing our own just in case. We are “ketchupholics”. Any suggestions on how to get this on board? Are packets or bottles easier to bring on board? Will they confiscate the contraband or are sealed items like ketchup allowed?
  11. No. I’ll check that out. Thank you! I did a search but I think I was in the wrong forum.
  12. Gee thanks. I’ve been doing that. Was looking for recommendations.
  13. We’ve been to Disney (don’t want to go anymore anyway), the Pontoon Boat, the whole Space Center thing. Was thinking Cocoa Beach but it doesn’t look that interesting. Is there anything else nearby the port that is fun to do? We like nature, amusementy things and quirky things. Are there any shops or restaurants near the port?
  14. Looks like they’re kicking the Christmas decorations up to high gear now.
  15. Thanks! Are there any fun things to do there besides the beach? I don’t know if it will be warm enough for that in February.
  16. Anyone know recent Uber costs from the port to Cocoa Beach area; Ron Jon shop and shopping? We just wanted to walk around there and have lunch. The excursion will cost $150. I think that’s a bit high.
  17. Thanks! Those prices are not bad for our situation. Don’t think a drink package will be worth it for us.
  18. Thank you for all the info. I think we will need to try to be as flexible as possible and just take it as it comes. I put in the special needs form and we’ll see what happens there. I was going to buy us all non alcoholic drink packages (my husband and I don’t really drink alcohol) but we don’t drink many sweet drinks. Juice and coffee in the morning, water and tea at lunch and dinner and possibly a soda (mostly my son) here and there. I think we’ll buy our drinks a’la carte. Does anyone know the current pricing for soft drinks?
