  1. I can go on any lines, and that’s what I do. In 20 years 58 cruises were with 8 lines. Lately almost inclusively with RCI. As a devoted cruiser to RCI (with 29 by the end of this year) I propose a separate dining room or a floor depending on RCI ship (Quantum class ships for the most part have 4 rooms) for people who don’t own any pants or jeans. 🙂
  2. Who doesn’t appreciate? RCI? I’m sure RCI knows what line they are. Luxuriousness of cruise line also has nothing to do with formal nights. 🙂 Luxury lines mostly use country club dress code. Formal or near formal line is Cunard… which for the most part is not a luxury line. But they do require tux/suits during formal nights and sport coats/nice dresses after 6 pm nightly on regular nights. RCI did not have ANYTHING like this for 20 years we cruised with them. What they have is dress your best at best. 🙂 Regular pants/jeans have nothing to do with formal clothes.
  3. Why? And this is why Royal Caribbean crew isn’t doing it too. Who wants confrontation? I am thinking that NCL which I like way less than RCI does this better. They have smaller MDR where people who don’t wish to wear pants dine. However they don’t allow people in shorts in large MDR. Everyone is happy. 🙂
  4. Are you twisting words on purpose? Nobody asks to wear what people were wearing in 1970. If you don’t remember what people were wearing in Love Boat I suggest rewatching it. If you are too lazy I will remind you. They wore formal clothes to MDR in that. Not torn jeans or regular pants (slacks) have nothing to do with formal or even business casual dress code.
  5. This is a clear exaggeration. In a reality most people have good understanding which clothes are appropriate for which venue. Nobody is demanding very strict standards at that. Not in this topic anyway
  6. What? 1923? We are talking about regular casual pants including not torn jeans, not tuxedo or suit parts. In 2023 people still wear pants.
  7. It is not Cunard so there is no mandatory evening dress code in all venues. I get that. What I do not get is on the ship with various venues from buffet and pizzeria, Cafe Promenade etc to MDR if people do not want to put even minimal dress code why do they need to go to MDR? They have plenty venues where it is completely fine to be in shorts and any type of shoes. It is not like it is MDR or being hungry.
  8. Well, we usually do 3-5 ships a year 5 cruises. This year it is 3 ships Anthem January 11 days Southern Caribbeans, Enchantment - 12 days Southern Caribbeans, Liberty - 5 days Bermuda, Liberty - 9 days Canada/NE, Anthem 7 days Bahamas Last year it was 4 ships - Anthem (9 days Caribbeans) - Enchantment (12 days Southern Caribbeans) - Oasis (7 days Bahamas) - Adventure (9 days Canada/NE) - Anthem (7 days Bahamas)
  9. Last one was at the end of May 2023 (Liberty). Anthem was in January, Enchantment in March. We do cruise a lot. We hit 140 points in Nov 2021 and will have 280 in Nov 2023.
  10. Well, Royal doesn’t stop people, yes. Royalьс's approach is pretty much non-confrontational. So at times you see people like that. It’s a formal night in MDR btw. But I’d rather call it an exception. Shorts especially during Formal/Dress your best nights are too.
  11. This is a polite suggestion, yes. Most will get it. If person does not agree you can put SHORTS ARE NOT PERMITTED in large bold letters and there will still be a discussion about this.
  12. Not at All I sailed on Oasis in September 2021 and May 2022 to Bahamas and that is what I saw. Also on Anthem (Bahamas every Thanksgiving, Southern Caribbeans every January), Enchantment every March Southern Caribbeans. Just of off Liberty to Bermuda. Same.
  13. We are usually on 2 Southern Caribbean cruises a year, 1 to Bermuda and 1 to Bahamas (or 2 to Bahamas). Most of people do wear long pants to MDR. JFYI.
  14. Well, this is not the Army. They cannot make you... but interesting part is they clearly state when shorts are welcomed in MDR. More than suggestive.
  15. We have about 10 cruises with NCL and 25+ with RCI. For us many things are comparable although Oasis class is just a ship in its own league, but large NCL ships are poorly designed in our view. No quality adult only solarium with pool/jacuzzies for example... crowds everywhere. After NCL Breakaway experience if we cruise with NCL it is on medium size ships like Gem, Jewel, Dawn.. if itinerary is great. BTW most of our cruises lately are done from NYC/NJ area... and Manhattan garage is more expensive. It was $40 per night even in 2017. NJ is now $30. If you sailed on Breakaway and Oasis you know everything you need to know of course
  16. What is the dress code onboard all ships? When you’re onboard, the right look will vary by venue. But here are a few types of suggested attire you’ll see, grouped by item. Casual: You’re on vacation – relax! Jeans, polos, sundresses and blouses are all the right amount of laid back. Please keep swimwear to the Pool Deck. Shorts are welcomed for breakfast and lunch. Smart Casual: Think of this as a step up from your typical dinner wear. Dress to impress with collared shirts, dresses, skirts and blouses, or pantsuits. Jackets, sports coats and blazers are snazzy and welcomed. Formal: Make it a night out in your best black-tie look – suits and ties, tuxedos, cocktail dresses or evening gowns. There can be 1-3 formal nights during a sailing and is at the ship’s discretion.
  17. Hahahaha. Sure. I would add not just fine, but extremely fine. Why does RCI even have some stupid description of what is expected to be worn in MDR for dinner. What if someone cannot read?. Honestly I cannot imagine a person who does not have ANY long pants. Well I suppose I could, but that would not be someone who cruise.
  18. Police did not just started randomly searching cabins. They found something outside of the ship and then later searched the cabin. Yes they have a right. Ship docked in Bermuda is no different than house standing in Bermuda.
  19. Why do people think they can break laws of other countries? This is much more disturbing. Those dogs have very good sense of smell. Probably felt it from halls first. People manage to smoke it on the ship on some occasions.
  20. You do not need to have a dress pants.. Do they have slacks or just any pants even dark not torn jeans. It is enough.
  21. I do not go to such events anymore, especially on short cruises, but we did have them on 5 days Bermuda cruise on Liberty.
  22. You can check port schedule or ship schedule. I use app CruiseMapper
  23. After reading all reviews about Liberty being dated we expected to find problems. I honestly cannot say how this assessment was made. No visible wear and tear. Mind you we sail on much newer ships to have something to compare.
  24. We had to skip that night on Monday as we were in Bermuda and wanted to go somewhere. My husband knowing how I loved coconut shrimp just went to MDR and ordered it for me while I was sitting in Boleros.
  25. Liberty now has AMAZING shows. On the Air is Circus de Soleil type of show. Saturday Night Fever is a great Broadway show.
