I hate to sound like a doubter here, but there are several things in your post that make me question.

    • If you were truly Diamond with Carnival, you would know what that is!!
    • You aren't sure if your money is kept for a future cruise.  Didn't you ASK?
    • You called your Carnival "agent."  Carnival has PVPs (personal vacation planners) or you could you have had a TA that specializes in Carnival cruises (they are out there).  Which one?
    • You say that you cancelled 3/16, but not when the cruise was scheduled.  There is no way that 3/16 could be WAY before final payment for a June cruise unless it was the very end of June.
    • Carnival is slammed with phone calls.  I have been dropped a couple of times, but the only way they are hanging up on you is if you are abusive with them.

The upshot of all of this is, we really can't help you.  YOU HAVE TO CALL CARNIVAL.

you are right we are platinum status. I canceled 3-16 and cruise should have been 6-20-2020 so finals payment date was after 3-16 yes I did talk to my vacation planner. I did book a refundable deposit and called my vacation planner to cancel. While we cruised quite a bit I never knew were to find small details. More than that I had 2 different surgeries within 2 months. Hip replacement in the beginning of March, and than I had a fall and broke my fumer Bone at the end of April, so I had no time to look into this. I have no reason not to say exactly what happened since I’m asking for advice.

When did you cancel this cruise? If you canceled it after March 6 you would be eligible for a refund per Carnival's website. Click at the very top of the home page for the information.

"Carnival will honor this offer for any guests who were previously booked on voyages departing September 30, 2020 or prior and canceled their booking on or after March 6, 2020. "

If you cancelled prior to that date, I'd check your confirmation paperwork for anything that indicates you made a refundable deposit. Good luck in getting your money refunded.

what do I need to do???

  3. I had a cruise booked over a year ago for June 2020 was for my mom 86 birthday. No question asked I booked refundable deposit especially cruising with an older mother. Way before final Payment date I called my Carnival agent to cancel the cruise. After keeping me LONG time on the phone he finally canceled my booking but said it was a NONE refundable deposit. I know it is not true but nothing I could do about it. I didn’t book any thing not even sure if my money is kept for future cruise. It is $500.00 so disappointed with Carnival. We are elite/diamond (Not sure how they call it). I cancel a paid in full cruise with Princesse and got my $5,000.00 back. Canceled RCCL and it took few days to get $1,000.00 back and same with Celebrity. Only Carnival when I try to call they end up hanging up on me. I wrote I. Facebook and they deleted my post. It’s been few months now. Can I do any thing about this????

  4. While we have so many things to worry about especially us in the Los Angeles area I do worry not to get my money back. They canceled our Hawaii cruise for April we ask for the money back and yes it close my mind. It is an expensive cruise and we have at least 5-6 more on future cruise deposit. We also had a cruise for June with carnival booked more than a year out for a birthday so the other day when I canceled it before final payment date they said it is not refundable deposit $500.00 I know it’s not true. No way I will book none refundable with a mother who is 85 years. They said the money kept for next time. I called again and they hang up on me.at least I know it is not going to charge the rest. I never did get canceled emil but the cruise is no longer under the manage. So I hope they stay in business and we love to cruise again

I am currently waiting along with all the other passengers to board onto the Emerald.  They are being Mum about what happened.  All I know is, I've never seen such a bad check in for a Princess cruise.  So far, we are up to #18 for people to board, but the thing is ... no numbers have been called yet ... and the area for all the passengers to be in, is now packed to capacity. People who are mobile, are sitting on the floor, or standing.  So not sure what is happening with not even the 1st group being called.  Very bizzare. It's currently 16h00 - which is when the ship was supposed to depart.

We had a check in time of 13h30, but for some reason Princess when we arrived, said it made no difference.

They just asked Group #1 to board ... 16h01!!!!

Hope you all have great time. Once you all be in the fun will begin. We are booked on this ship to Hawaii end of April hope all will work out. I’m cruising with my mom she is at an older age and she already telling me she is scared and I don’t what to hear none of this as we all look forward to our cruise especially if we book long time out to ports we never been. You all have great time

Sure, but there's a difference to me.... these days especially... between 4 "injured" and 2 "injured" + 2 with an "illness".

Curious to see if everyone disembarks tomorrow.

Prayers to those sick and injured.

agree with you. This is why I’m asking. We are booked with same ship to Hawaii also. While it’s few weeks away it matters. I pray for every one well being

  7. Thank you all, love the ideas. When I said island tour I didn’t mean to go around the whole island but more like sitting in the bus for most of the excursion and see the important sights. I hope I will get more ideas the public bus sounded good also.

Check your "personalizer" on Princess website for your Hawaii cruise.  It should list all the tours (with level of activity)  for each port that you reserve.  If you have sufficient on board credit,  your on board credit will cover the cost of tours.

Don't know the correct answer if you have to pay with your credit card to book the tours.

it is listed and I see the level but not sure what is an island tour of them I thought may be someone did this kind of cruise and can recommend an excursion. Not able to rent a car

  9. Hi all, hope I can get some help. We are taking the emerald princess to Hawaii in April. I was trying to call princess for excursions but they don’t answer so I thought may be you all can help me. I’m trying to sigh up for an island tour in Maui, Hilo and Kauai. I’m looking for around 4-5 hours mostly in the bus easy to moderate. Any recommendations? Also I have to have surgery in the beginning of March so if from any reason I can’t make the cruise will they refund my excursion money back, I do have insurance. Thank you

You mean August 10 right?  LOL

The 2nd and the 5th nights are formal nights. I don’t remember if they call both of them formal but both these nights are dressing up nights and people take lots of pictures. 5th nights at the dinning room they serve lobster. I wouldn’t miss dinning room 5th night.

This happened to us.  We showed up at 11:30 for our 12:00 check-in and was told by a port employee that the garage wouldn't be open until noon.  He at first directed us to park along the curb to wait for the garage to open, but his boss came out and told him to move the few of us that were waiting.  It's a complete mess and Carnival needs to address it.  If the first check-in time is noon, parking should be available earlier. The excuse is the previous cruisers have taken up all the parking in the garage.  Yeah, well, when they start disembarking self-assist at 7:30 in the morning, I'm quite confident there will be plenty of spots open by 11:30. I need to find a public area (grocery store?) near the terminal where we can sit and wait for the garage to open.

There is construction along the 710 exit ramp to the port, but the signage is still very clear as to where you need to go to get to the port.

I’m handicap person so may be you are right. They allowed me to get in the Garadge so I don’t know if I was not a handicap. There were people who were directing the cars I thought it was because we arrived later than usual

Did you by any chance park at the terminal garage?  If so was there any issue with parking?   Have heard that if you arrive before 11:00 the garage is closed and they send you off site to another garage.

Did you notice any construction in or near the garage?  They will definitely need to expand parking to accommodate the increased numbers of the Panorama.

Glad to hear you had a great cruise, too!

There was no problem with the parking. Matter of fact I parked in this parking garage many times. I try to get there around 10:30 because if you get to the parking late you will need to truly look for parking. Around 10:30 late enough for people who left the ship and early for people who are getting there. This time I was late arrived around 11:00 and parking was full. Sure I found parking but had to go to higher floor. We NEVER ben sent to another parking lot. The price is $20.00 per day so 7 days we paid $140.00 it’s a lot  up better than having to fly. I didn’t notice Constraction

  13. My mother and myself are seasoned cruisers and for the past year or two we have been cruising locally out of Long Beach or San Pedro with Princess. We have done many 4 days with Carnival Inspiration and the Imagination. We did few of the 7 days but honestly the 4 days were just more fun. This time we celebrated my mother’s birthday so we decided on the 7 nights with the Splendor and what an amazing time we had. The ship was full. Also the ship had many kids for the summer vacation, but they were well taken care of by the crew. Also the adults area was very quite. There was never a dull moment. We had the most amazing cruise director Lee. He is so full of life and any event he hosted was just jam packed. I think the cruise director can make or break the cruise when it come to fun and activities. While my mother and myself don’t join the dancing and the high energy activities we love to watch it. Shows were good. It is amazing how a group of 8 people can run so many activities. We are sorry for that ship will be going to Australia but we can only hope that the new Panorama will be high energy and fun. I hope that Lee will return to the west coast as we will take any cruise he will direct.

    • Thanks 1
  14. We turned platinum and we will be cruising the royal princess. We would like to go to the happy hours. What is the discount of the drinks for beer and wine. We don’t drink much a wine now and than was just wondering if the disconnect is worth it. Also do many people go? Is it more of a social thing?

    • Thanks 1
  15. Just returned from the Royal princess and we didn’t noticed the smoke. We only went to the casino just to see it. We went all over the ship but we had no issue with smoke no place, but some people are more sensitive than others
