The thing is, are they going to announce this formally and publicly at some point (or did I miss a memo)?  I mean, we only know because someone was on a cruise and found out, and was gracious enough to let us all know here. If NCL is doing this fleetwide, which they certainly appear to be, they should at least own it.  At this point it looks like they are not only nickel and diming everyone (again) but also trying to be incredibly sneaky and underhanded about it.

As I said on a prior post, I contacted NCL and while they kept assuring me that they valued my opinion, blah, blah, what they most wanted to know was where I got my information? I directed them to this board and told them that people were not agreeing with this new dollar grabbing plan. When I am onboard in 2 weeks I plan to talk to the beverage director and lodge a formal complaint. Maybe if lots of repeat cruisers do that they may walk it back.

  2. Just hung up with customer service, attempted to find out if the Dawn has changed to the new pricing since we leave in 2 weeks. They couldn't tell me anything of course, but they definitely were interested in how I got my information and where it was being discussed. I told them to tell NCL they need to start reading this thread because people are not happy!

  3. Absolutely agree that this is just another money grab by NCL. They already have the highest price for the beverage program at sea and after years of people asking to include water they are going to upcharge certain alcohols that were included and call them super premium? I can just see someone in a back room somewhere, hmm let's see, more people asked for grey goose, so we will make it more expensive so they have to pay a premium to get it...cut to diabolical laughter...I wouldn't pay the $4.95 if the only other vodka was stolis!

This!!!! So many people overlook the VALUE of not having to stress about how much you are spending on drinks. It is sooooooo much nicer to just swipe your card and go and not worry about it at all. Having to sign receipts, constantly keeping a running tally of how much your are spending, feeling like you HAVE to finish a drink to get your "money's worth", not being willing to try something new in case you end up not liking it.... All of that could seriously detract from the QUALITY of your vacation. Might you save a few bucks buying drinks individually and not getting the drink package? Maybe, but think long and hard what the additional stress will "cost" you in terms of enjoyment.

    Agree 100% with you Jaimie!

  5. What happened to prime rib as a ship wide special on the first night of the cruise. For a while, you could count on it as a menu item and we used to go to O'sheehans to eat, it was also offered in both mdrs.

I do think I remember prime rib as a menu option on one the other evenings but just wondered if anyone know why this was stopped.

Any chance they will have the Austrailan open tennis tournament grand slam coverage?  The only sport we follow is tennis, and we happen to be cruising the second week of this tournament.  It's one of the four big tennis tournaments of the year.

I have seen tennis onboard on different cruises, I seem to remember a semifinal being played with Nadal, but I have no idea what tournament it was. Sorry..

  7. We were able to watch NFL football on our cruise in September and other fall cruises we have been on, as for Lobster, that particular item hasn't been offered in the MDR for years, it might be offered in one of the specialty restaurants, maybe someone else may know that, no cans of soda are ever served, but if you had the beverage package you had unlimited fountain soda in any restaurant or bar, also haven't been chocolates for some years for turn down service. When were you last on NCL?

IS ANYONE ELSE HAVING MAJOR ISSUES WITH CRUISE CRITIC AND GETTING ERROR MESSAGES?

I had this problem on the first day I started this review. I was getting an error and page wouldn't load. Something wrong with the icloud server they use?

Then in the middle of my review (from yesterday), it went down again and gave another error.

Is something wrong with the boards since they updated? This is getting irritating. I end up losing all of my work during a post.

    Yes, constantly...not loving our "upgrade"🤔

  9. I wish you all the luck on your journey with breast cancer. I was diagnosed February 1 and we had our 16 day Panama Canal cruise booked March 12. After consulting with my doctors, we decided to go on the cruise and have the surgery when we returned. As my doctor said to me, many breast cancers are a personal emergency, not necessarily a medical one. Did I have fun? Yes I did, I'd be lying if I aid there wasn't a shadow hanging over the trip, but we also laughed and drank and went new places and met new friends and I'm glad we did! I'm sorry if your diagnosis won't allow you to still go and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

  10. Just got off the Gem, not really impressed with the new menus, a lot of the choices just didn't appeal and I'm not a picky eater! I wish I had taken photos of them, food wasn't as good as it has been on our other cruises, except of course at LeBistro and Moderno.

  11. We held sloths at victors monkey business and we were on the Getaway. Did the zip and dip package, the kids zip lined first, then got to tour and hold the sloths, etc. I didn't think they smelled at all and it was terribly hot when we were there.
